Happy New Year. Back story, I havend played ams2 since last May. In the meantime I inverted my pedals. So 7 months of inactivity but always did updates on PC and game. I go to play and my throttle is out of sorts. When on full throttle it will just drop off and then pick back up. Also times there is a massive lag when I begin to depress throttle. I tried recalibrate, re bind. Etc. What could it be? Was workout g grewt 7 months ago. Maybe uninstall and reinstall from steam. Thanks for all help. Cheers
Hi, Happy new year to you as well. Have you tried the following? Verify Cache (Steam) Right-click on Automobilista 2 Select Properties Go to Installed Files Click Verify integrity of game file Once done, boot up the game Rebind peripherals if needed Test ingame and see if your issue is fixed Backup & Delete AMS2 Folder Go to My Documents Back up the Automobilista 2 folder Delete the original folder Boot up AMS2 Reconfigure settings (graphics, FFB, controls, etc.) Test in-game Please don’t hesitate to reply if you need more help with your issue. Marius
Wow thank you for fast reply. I am pleading ignorance lol. I just bought. Y 1st computer last summer and its all new to me. My wife is shocked I acrwully have this rig running at my young age of 56. I wholeheartedly appreciate you helping me out. I will try and do what you have mentioned. So I should not uninstall and reinstall in steam? Sounds like your way is much more in depth, no? Thanks again as i know I will need guidance. May I ask, has this issue i am having been a problem for others?
Hello Frank, Thank you so much! And welcome to the world of PC gaming; it’s a fantastic journey and hobby to dive into. Of course, we do face some challenges, like the insane price hikes for video cards and RAM. But luckily, our current setups will keep us going for another 8–10 years, and there’s always a treasure trove of older and retro games to enjoy. Now, to the main point: you don’t need to delete and reinstall the game. That’s really the last resort if nothing else works. Often, verifying the game cache and deleting your AMS 2 folder in “My Documents” will fix most common issues. I suspect your AMS 2 folder is quite old, and there have been several patches and new content releases since then; not to mention Windows updates, driver updates, and so on. So, if you start with the steps I suggested, you’re already off to a good beginning! Edit: I saw your new post pop up. I haven’t seen this issue come up recently, but I do remember something similar happening to someone a few years ago.
Ok I will most definitely follow your suggestions. Yes the PC world is very overwhelming for me that is. Slowly I learn more each day. You did mention old files, and updates. I did do all ams2 updates over the months just didn't race. I figured being stagnant would have an impact on performance. Thanks again and I will most definitely let you know my results. Have a great day.
Good morning, a few things I did. I did ingertiy check and all files were good. Had no idea how to do the 2nd part yoi asked. My apologies. I did an uninstall and reinstall and it did nothing, all my settings didn't change it absolutely did nothing unless I did that wrong. So I wanted to see throttle input in neutral and sure enough blew my engine didn't skip a beat. So kinda lost. So when slowing down, into a turn it dies out. Then going through the gears 1-5 seem to work ok but 6th is dead. I really love this game and have no idea what changed. Thanks for helping
Hello, Would it perhaps an idea to ask a neighbour or perhaps someone who has more technical knowledge about computers? This way you can side-eye and learn as well. Also I would like to know which peripherals you're using. Thank you, Marius
Good day, yes I have a friend who is calling me tonite to do the 2nd part you asked me to check. All my gear is simagic. Shifter, base, wheel pedals. I have a few button boxes and and DDU and pacelogic and handbrake. It worked great before I inverted 7 months ago. Thanks for all your help Also in game settings for pedals and wheel. It asks for combined or seperate. I use seperate. My base and pedals are same manufacturer. I definitely need to do step 2 and backup and delete old file. Have a great day
Been watching videos, sorry for all these messages. I see i can backup games in the steam app itself. Corre Its working now, I switched to combined throttle instead of seperate. Thanks again. Cheers
@Frank_ Tomatoes Glad it's working now for you, mate. Sometimes the easiest or simplest solution is the best. Have fun racing!
@Frank_ Tomatoes If you're ever in the mood to race online against other people, give justrace.net a go. They're a friendly bunch (handy if you have technical problems) and have been co-operating with Reiza for years. Or LFM is a good alternative.
