    Hi uys,

i think it's time to look ahead. What does Reiza say about DLSS integration? I believe that would be a significant step, especially if we want to elevate the already beautiful graphics in AMS2 to a new level in the next two years. Don’t you agree? I think features like Ray Tracing, 3D trees, and more animations and effects (e.g., improving rain, especially on the windshield) will continue to demand a lot of power in the future.

Am I expecting too much, or are there possibilities to integrate DLSS and Ray Tracing into the AMS2 engine?

I wouldn't be suprised if DLSS gets added, but I wouldn't expect ray tracing

It is a nice to have as an option, but don't make the game rely on it to perform well. It is one of the last few game that is crystal clear and not a blurry mess...

First, frame generation is not of great use in sims as they introduce input lag, which is the last thing you want in a sim.

Ray Tracing is definitely out of question as the Madness Engine does not support it.

As for DLSS as an upscaler (renderer to a lower resolution with upscale to monitor resolution), it could be interesting on some lower end systems I suppose to improve performance. But AMS2 already perform quite well on lower end systems.

DLAA (basically DLSS at native resolution) could be interesting to improve anti-aliasing but I think it requires a game with a TAA implementation, which AMS2 does not use (it uses MSAA)

DLDSR can already be used today to improve anti-aliasing and image quality for a marginal performance cost, although I believe it does not work for VR.

Reiza could make the madness engine support it

No way as it is waaay out of their expertise (assuming Reiza would even like to tackle it which they won't). Even free seek in replays has more chance than that. And it is zero already.
No (true) sim has RT by the way.
Only the original developers at SMS would have had a chance to update the Madness Engine to RT.

I’m not saying i want it (because I don’t), but saying something isn’t possible is IMO wrong.

So why cant we skip around in the replays like in ACC?

Everything is possible given unlimited budget, time and willpower. Sure if Reiza hires half a down graphics engine wizards, pay them well and lock them in a room for the next 2 years, update the lighting for all the cars and tracks to work with RT it might happen. At this point you might call it AMS3. And by RT I mean full path tracing which is transformative to graphics and the next big step. I expect this to take forever to reach any sim.

DLSS would be cool to help improve VR performance, but personally I dislike the blurriness that comes with it so I'm 50/50 on its implementation in AMS2.

AFAIK it is some livetrack limitation. Reiza detaching it from time progression gives me hope

I’m not saying it’s impossible for Reiza to change the current limitations

€2400 for a GPU… Well, gaming isn’t all about graphics. They can build whatever they want, but does it really make gaming better? I doubt it. Many current-gen games aren’t that impressive. They should focus on making games more fun to play rather than prioritizing stunning graphics with terrible gameplay.:D

Too bad PCars4 got canned once EA got their hands on SMS. The Madness Engine seemed to be progressing so well. They even managed to successfully implement ray tracing in the Madness Engine. Early pictures looked so promising.

Which really begs the question, what version of the Madness engine is Reiza using? I somehow suspect the version being used is the same one in PCars2 and not even PCars3. As much hate as PCars3 got, the tire model and physics actually felt good. At this point, even if Reiza just made an option in AMS2 VR settings to switch between OpenVR and OpenXR, it would be a god send for a lot of people who are not tech savy.

But I'm with you though, I'm not holding my breath for DLSS or any of the advanced Nvidia tech like SPS or SMR for VR being implemented. I mean somehow, the guy who made Content Manager for AC was able to implement SPS in AC. Incredible if you think about the fact it was done by a "mod" creator. Even the implementation of SPS for VR users would be a god send.

It's going to be 5070TI for me, or AMD must come up with something good. I am mostly playing 99% of my time AMS2 and Diablo 2 Resurrected anyway, but lately I am into Stalker 2. Its a heavy game. Unoptimized too. DLSS Ultra Quality, Sharpness 70 and FRS 3.1 switched on. Nets me 90-110 in varied area's and daytime. Good stuff. However, I first want to upgrade my CPU, Mobo and Ram this year to AM5. 3070 still going strong although it's using the crazy upscaling stuff.

I usually skip every other graphics card generation, e.g. going from 2070 to my current 4080, so I'll likely skip this 50x0 generation as well.

yeah absolutely no point in looking at 50 series unless your prepared to upgrade everything else in your system .

I went from 1080TI to 4080S recently so will skip 5000 and 6000 as well.

If it was up to me, i'd rather the budget got spent on car and track modellers now. And hopefully the audience is large enough now that DLCs pay for themselves. Plus, it's not like we need more performance from AMS2, in most cases...
