    Hey guys.
I just want to get some feedback if something is odd on the complete system Im about to build in the next few weeks.
Im going from an old Win 7 to a WIN 11 Pro because I want to jump on the VR wagon (the Beyond thing).
I cannot afford the 4090 Super but it looks like the 4080 Super isnt that bad.
Gimme some constructive feedback - please.

MSI GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER SUPRIM X
    AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D
    ASRock X670E PG Lightning
    DeepCool ASSASSIN IV
be quiet! Straight Power 12 850W
    G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo DDR5-6000 C30 DC - 32GB
    GIGABYTE AORUS Gen5 12000 SSD - 1TB - M.2 2280 - PCIe 5.0

Be aware: Because I allready have a spare of 2 new 2Tb WD Red NAS drives I dont really need the SSD.
So instead of the AORUS monster above Im probably going for this tiny one instead:
    Crucial T500 SSD - 500GB - M.2 2280 - PCIe 4.0

Looks good, that power supply will have a dedicated cable for the graphics card which should make for a neat and tidy build, looks like a nice fast PC.

Looks pretty decent to me. Make sure the 4080 has 12GB of VRam

    Thanks guys.
Yeah conserning the 4080 SUPER card a lot of shops are now trying to get rid of the discontinued 4080 without actually telling customers if its the old or new one they are about to buy.
I had a conversation with a shop where it was very difficult to get info if it WAS the Super version or not. When they began to tell me it didnt matter I just stopped the conversation :p

Another reason I have become very hesitant to buy one of the new PCIe 5.0 SSDs is that there are rumors that if they are not cooled with an active cooler they can get temps higher than 100 degr C.
Hehe but I guess that even if I need to have some of my prgs on the standard HDs then the speed difference from my old (10+ years) system will be huge.
But I have also to admit that the price for this system is close to what I can afford.:(

Just built a new PC myself and was in the same hesitant position on PCIe5.0 drives. In the end I decided to go for a gen 5 compatible motherboard and a gen 4 drive, giving the option of an upgrade later. To be honest unless you are regularly dealing with large video files the difference in performance would be negligible, especially for a gaming rig.

Big Screen Beyond? If you are jumping into any WMR HMD just know the platform is dying this year on Win11 and 20267 on Win10.

I'm in the same boot. and want a similar configuration. So I follow along.
No money for a 4090. And if I had, perhaps I even would not buy it. Ridiculous price of course.
I want the same GPU,CPU and Ram. And an Quest 3 :D
    • Case: Fractal Design Pop Air solid
    • Proc: Een AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
    • Proc Cooler: Be quite! Pure Rock 2
    • Mobo: MSI B650-S voorzien van Wifi 6e/ Bluetooth 5.3
    • GPU: MSI Ventus 4080 Super 16 GB
    • MeM: G.Skill DDR5 Flare X F5-6000J3238F16GX2 2x16 GB @ 6000 MT/s
    • Power : Bequiet! Pure power 12M 850 Watt
    • SSD: 2TB Samsung 990 Pro
    • OS: Win 10 Home NL + Licences.

And I have already 2 SSD in my old system so those I will migrate.

I had a system price of €2678. For this price they will assemble it for me as well.

Thanks. I will just check up on your parts.
As example your CPU is not much slower than my choose but cheaper.
    Ill also check your MB.

I think the Ryzen 9 is a bit overkill. It has 4 more cores than the Ryzen 7. But those cores won’t help you in games. Those are more for video editing and 3D applications like Cinema4D etc.

Yep I mentioned that in a previous thread, it only have 3D vcache on one of its ccx's, haha such a scam CPU for gamers. Plus you get the benefit of the AMDip  which is always a great feature for gaming

Thanks to you both. Apreciated. And I agree with you ;) But seen in the context of the total cost of the system then the difference in price is so small (relative) that Ill keep my choose (Ryzen 9 7900X3D).
Eventhough the difr is small there is a difr (hehe somewhat :D).

I highly suggest to move that list on PCPartPicker portal to check prices because I saw some prices here and I think you can save a lot (no matter the final config).

I highly suggest very fast ram for VR and SSD too for the same reason....VR needs lot of power and lot of speed...

Save the HDD for other games, better if not multiplayer ones or VR ones...

Haha didnt see that. Thank you.
Pretty ashamed. But I have decided for the 7900X3D
Gotta find a compare between the 7900X3D and 7800X3D so I dont stand too silly.
    Or pig-ish :D
EDIT: A bit confusing but I have changed the compare you are refering to to the X3D family.
Without being an expert in this ram thing(in any way) then I have seen that the speed of ram isnt very urgent talking about the huge cache X3D family. And not much difference playing with ram timings.

Holy sch... That was a good advice. Multo appreciated.:)
Eventhough I just got about the same price I had calculated myself.
Probably because some of the proposed shops are the same as mine.
But the overview on that site is amazing.
Got to study the merged system further. Check out the endup picture:
EDIT: Just checked up my own prize. Which was 22704 Kr. So...:D

Have a look at PurePC, they did the 7950x3d, not 100% sure how that compares to 7900x3d

Thank you but the 7950x3d is even more expensive than the 7900x3d.
    Too high for me.
But Im discussing with myself if this issue about the shared cache is a serious problem in gaming.
I admit it sounds goofy creating such an issue:
Hehe maybe the 7800X3D isnt that bad.:D

Comparing the 7800X3D to the 7900X3D, the 7800X3D actually turns out to be the better CPU for gaming by a slight margin, probably because it has 8 cores that all benefit from the extra cache, while the 7900X3D has 12 cores, but divided into a 6+6 configuration, and only 6 cores can access the cache.
