I know Nvidia is announcing the 30X0 series tomorrow but i suspect my ageing pc would need a lot of upgrade to make the best of the new GPU. current spec: i7-5820 cpu, X99 mobo, 650w PSU, 1600 ram. so am thinking a used 2080ti. just wondering for those who had the 1080ti and upgraded to the 2080ti, was it a worthwhile upgrade?
My advice. Sell current build around Christmas. Buy a total new one with 3xxx GPU and the coming new AMD cpu.
It is a lot faster... https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-2080-Ti-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1080-Ti/4027vs3918 but as said on the RaceRoom forum. Perhaps better wait on the 3000 series
Are you running triple screens at high resolution? 1080ti is still a very fast card for most setups, if you're having performance issues it might not be the GPU.
Your CPU will be the bottleneck, even for a 2080ti. With your current system, it's unlikely you'll see a big improvement with the 2080ti - you'd be better off saving the money to put towards a new system. Stick with the 1080ti until you upgrade the whole system.
