If I send invites through steam they get an error saying the lobby is no longer active but I am clearly still in the game. Also, I have a greyed out ping indicator when usually it has a colour. I can join other MP lobbies but creating one just end up being invisible except for me.... any help, please

    Thanks

could it be your windows firewall or another firewall if u use one is blocking something, it sort of seems like that to me, maybe try turning off your firewall shortly as a test

Sounds like a port forwarding thing. Always a tricky one. If you can find out which ports need to be opened (I don't know them), you then need to access the router and find out how to open the required ports. www.portforward.com has a tonne of info on that.

Yeah it sounds like a port forwarding issue.
But be aware that the only thing they are interrested in in the link is to sell their Network Utilities.
Its pretty easy to manually open a port in ones router - without having to pay for some prog to do it.

The last bit is not true.

Port forwarding can be a huge pain in the ass if your router is one of those ****ty the provider gives you.

Besides, if you are behind a CGNAT it is impossible to port forward.

But yeah, no one should ever pay to port forward.

No reason to get into a discussion about this "pay for port forwarding".
Becuase we probably dont disagree ;)
But I have now manually activated port forwarding in 3 different provider sourced routers without problems.
Because if you follow some simple advices to via the browser getting into the routers menusystem then its very hard to do anything wrong (IMO).:)

But just to understand the reason for this "open port" thing.
The few times I have started a MP Lobby here in AMS2 and invited some participants I have never needed to port forward anything.
And both myself and the few who joined could "see" the lobby in the MP list.
So I understand the OPs question is only nessesary if you start some kind of Steam based server.
    Am I right?
Because as I described it it was extremely easy to create and start a "simple" AMS2 MP Lobby ;)

thats why i replied that maybe he uses a firewall thats blocking something, since portforwarding is only needed when running a dedicated server, but it would help if the OP responds, since its been a couple days since he posted his question.

    Thank you - appreciated.
Then my understanding wasnt completely off.
Because I became unsure if I had been misunderstanding something here :)
