My system just updated to win 10 2004. I also updated my Nvidia drivers from 446.14 to the latest 452.06.

Since the updates AMS2 takes longer to load a custom race event (+25% load time) and I have to say the graphics are not as fluid. There are micro stutters here and there.. Nothing major however not as fluid as it was. I am not sure if it is Windows 10 2004, the new nVidia drivers or both..

Anyone else noticed some degrading performance..?

*I did previously try nV driver 451 on windows 1909 however I lost performance in ACC.. Maybe I will roll back to 446.14

Add: I noticed windows now only reports 12 GB of ram when it should be 16 GB. HWINFO says 16 GB though..

Hmm tough to compare as everyones pc's specs are so different - mines only a few months old too - but on both those same windows/nvidia versions I've had no decrease in performance everything still real smooth..

I have done 2 things to make my PC run more optimized.
First, I followed this guideline for Windows 10 (it is 2 years old but in general still applies):

    and:

Then there is a much newer guide about how to optimize the NVIDIA control panel:

v2004 should be an improvement (I use it myself), but only if it's configured properly.
I can point you at a guide for a few things, but I'll let you reply first and confirm that you're actually comfortable getting into the details of doing some OS tweaking (basic configuration stuff through the GUI, running some powershell commands and also some command prompt stuff). Other than that, it's also worth reviewing a few things in local group policy.
If you're happy to do that and assume responsibility for your actions (i.e. it's all on you - and you should do an offline full system backup prior to doing any of this for rollback purposes), then I will detail some basic tuning you can do to improve it.

In a nutshell there's a fair bit of "bloat ware" in the OS by default and a lot of things aren't really configured ideally for performance.

If you're not comfortable with doing some configuration and tweaking settings, then a couple of things I'd suggest are:

    1) enable "game mode", within the control panel, gaming, game settings
    2) enable "hardware accelerated GPU scheduling", which is in the same window, hidden in the option titled "Related Settings" and underneath that it has a link labelled "graphics settings".
    - H/W accelerated GPU scheduling is the reason I updated from another version to v2004.
    - NOTE: you must be running at least v451.48 of the geforce driver and be using v2004 of windows 10 or above to use it. I'm not sure which AMD driver version enables it and as I don't have an AMD GPU at the moment, I'm not going to bother to check.

No support for H/W accelerated GPU scheduling either and updates can be disabled pretty easily.

Thanks.. Yeah I am comfortable.. I use to clean up bloat in PowerShell however it became increasingly more difficult as MS made it more difficult remove. That said I have a critical issue to deal with first as my boot manager/loader is screwed and I can't get into Windows.. I am trying to fix this through cmd prompt as the usb repair process will not fix it..

I don't quite understand your response, but regardless I'm glad that you're happy with things.
    Happy gaming to you...
(your reply gave me a good laugh)

I would suggest however that you consider running a real world benchmark on the same hardware and verify the results, rather than go from what you have read or seen in videos.

    devblog comments from microsoft:
Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling | DirectX Developer Blog

article discussing its benefits or lack of benefits:
Does Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling boost performance - Tested with RTX | Conclusion - Is Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling worth it? | Software

    quote from the above article:
"Perhaps we would have seen a larger performance impact on more bandwidth-constrained Nvidia graphics cards, like Nvidia's GDDR5-based GTX 1650 and GTX 1660 (non-Super). Unfortunately, we have neither of these GPUs in-house to test at this time. "

...ie. the impact of this feature is entirely dependent on the hardware. you can't compare the results of one GPU or generation to another, so making assumptions with a lack of data is rather foolish. I have benchmarked it on my own hardware and it has had a noticeable impact on FPS and consistency in at least on racing simulator (r Factor 2).
It does not offer a huge gain - I agree with that, but in my own case, the data says it resulted in around a 10 FPS increase. That can be significant to some people - depending on hardware.

Try supergrub 2 to boot into partition...
    Super Grub2 Disk
use rufus or similar to create an usb booting system

Thanks for the information, but I have my opinion about the matter, which I would rather not see it reduced to foolishness. I have been working in IT for so many years that I value my time, and I deeply use it for something that satisfies me more than chasing the best performance.
    Have a nice day..
    Ps
    I have a quadro p400.

Thanks matey good to know for the future... I managed to fix it for now through diskpart commands.. For some strange reason all the drive letters on my drives were swapped around..

Strange how I can only set 12gb of max memory in msconfig..?!? something to troubleshoot of the next day or two..

So many years sounds like a really long time ?
    Doing what exactly ?

...I'm curious why you think you know more than the people who write the OS - no offense intended.

I probably could have written an operating system if I had the ability, which I don't have, I'm a middle man .. But I saw the birth of dos 6.22 and I started to do assistance on that apart from repairing commodore 64, 128, plus4, vic 20, msx console and so on. I started at 16, I'm 48

I probably could have built a mach 3 jet fighter too - but sadly I don't have that ability either.
I'm not trying to provoke you, but I see a lot of people with pretty inaccurate information online.
But I'll leave you with your opinions.
You are a similar age to me, although you started with computers considerably later than I did and I think you can have a guess at what I've done for a living.
    Good luck to you.
