Would TrackIR work on a monitor and seat all moving on a motion rig?

...or TrackIR expects a static base? Thoughts?

The TrackIR sensor would need to be attached rock solid, the default tripod isn't made for that at all (it's really not the best one for normal use already), so this would require some manual/DIY work, nothing hyper special of course, some good grey tape might already be a problem solver here.

The other thing is, that you can set some smoothing in the software of course, to make small movements of the head not applying to head movement, or you could set the curves that way, that your head moves properly in relation to the movement of course.

Overall it theoretically could work, but needs some good effort into adjustments and the movement of the rig needs to be accounted for. (The sensor itself isn't more than a camera with IR emission and filter, so of course it works also in moving condition)

I personally would recommend to use a larger monitor, VR or tripples for a motion rig setup though. Probably the better result at the end.

If you don't have trackir already your best way to test would be with a webcam, Opentrack and it's neural net input option. This will need quite a bit of filtering using the accela filter.

You would probably also want to only use the rotational (pitch, role, yaw) inputs as having translational motion (x,y,z) combined with the movement of the rig and the in-game camera might be severely committee inducing. Definitely in the Y axis at least. Having a lot of high frequency vibrations, road noise might be a problem also in terms of tracking and lag.

Would be interesting to know how well it works for you though.

    Edit:
Although if your monitor is moving with the rig translation might not be such a problem.
