    The custom files are getting more and more sophisticated, small things can make the difference. but what you should not forget when providing your impressions and maybe even your own ffb files: what equipment are you using???
    For a DD user, the settings for a Thrustmaster steering wheel make little sense. A Logitech user can do nothing with both settings. Therefore, I would actually find it a necessary standard to post the knowledge gained in connection with the steering wheel used.

    I don't think you should need:
    Damping: 4%
    Friction: 3%
    Inertia: 8%

    I have them all at 0% myself.
    Inertia will hurt over-steer precision and delay any front tyre information/turning push, so that is prob. the most important to reduce, at least from my perspective.

    There are no specific rules, there are a sea of nuances that are subjective ... but generic ranges can be given, but it is obvious that you will have to adjust it to your feelings, then if you want to go crazy like all of us, you will do it all again every new version of Karsten & Company :p, otherwise I recommend that you find a version you like and enjoy the game by checking back once in a while to see if there have been any substantial improvements with future versions. ;)

    However, some game genres settings coupled with files might look like this:
    - DD User: Gain 0-35 LFB 0-35 FX 0-35 with file HIGH File;
    - Fanatec and Medium Power Steering Wheels: Gain 35-50 LFB 35-50 FX 35-55 with MED File;
    - Logitech and low end: Gain 50-85 LFB 50-80 FX 55-85 with LOW File.

    Once you have found the winning combination, you can start modifying in the file.txt the individual items one by one, see if you like it, otherwise go back and go to the next item!!!
    Unfortunately your senses, your tastes and your way of synchronizing with what you see on the video is not replicable so you will have to experiment !!! ;)

    With experience, knowing the reactions to the changes made and over time, you will learn what to change directly to improve the look you are looking for !!!!

    So, I was running the Gen3 -M1 at Imola_Historic_1988 , and I was not really liking the .46 FFB, with the In-Game settings used with the tin tops. So, I tweaked it better for open wheel types. The ffb_custom_settings file is the same, but the In-Game is better at 76-97-47- DMP 9. That obviously changes per car type. I don't mind because I record each car/track combo and all the settings anyway.
    NAME: SlvRaw-v6.6.5.46-WIP15-MomRk-5.2-Karsten-G920
    Starting Points for In-Game - will vary per car/track
    Tin Tops: 57-82-68-DMP 2
    Open Wheel: 76-97-47-DMP 9

    Thanks Shadak and Karsten, those changes helped a lot. I had the AMS2 Gain way to high for this version. It's a much more precise feeling. I still feel like the outer edges of my turn radius are getting too much force in high speed corners. Would like to have a little more distribution of
    force in the entire turn range.

    What AMS2 Damping settings are you running with DD ?

    It depends on the car, but somewhere 15-35, normally.
    Cornering fix is ready in v37 wip file with a value to adjust it as well.

    v47 posted.

    * Huge thanks to @Panos Schoino & @Shadak for direct adjustments & everybody else in the forum for all the awesome feedback to work from.
    * "Power-steering" curve and value added "power_steering". Helps keep heavy cornering in check.
    * Better behaved base signal.
    * Improved center full feeling.
    * Adjusted towards lighter over crests.
    * Several adjustments based on combination of feedback & feel.

    Yes, it's a simple, but full Lfb.
    So requires master_rack scaled down, if it is increased.
    This will then make the low forces the same, but the higher forces less.
    I will fix it so it does the master_rack scale automatically at some point.
    There is nothing more to it 8)

    @Karsten Hvidberg I haven't tested anything yet ... I just loaded the file * 47 LOW, I launched the game and I tried two configurations ... the first time 50-50-70-5 ... and the second time 80-80 -70-5 ... I tell you on the confidence that this is a great file .... in both configurations I had a WOW effect on the GT3s at SPA ... :cool:
    In the first case a lighter and more informative feeling with a not very full center but still full ... and in the second case the feeling is of resistance, fullness in the center that overhangs the effects a little but they remain present ....
    I must say that in both cases I have a great feeling ... fantastic !!!

    Would you advise me whether to start from lower or median values (both Gain and LFB) or I start from high values for both?
    Or the median Gain and the high LFB ???

    For how the file is conceived, in order to cover a wider range of cars what do you recommend??? Always Low Gain possible and the conseguence LFB for full center??

    Guys,

    In v47 I accidentally adjusted "suspension_scale" down to 0.7 from 0.9. I'm liking it better at the old 0.9, just to let you know in case you're missing a little of that as well. Will be adjusted up again in v48, I think.

    Hey Stakanov,

    I tend to start at lowish lfb, not 0 maybe 5-9 or so, at first and adjusting gain up to where it feels like it makes sense overall & then use LFB to fill in the rest at the end and finetuning gain. But it's always a slight ping-pong between them. I would in general avoid gain above 75-80, simply to keep some headroom & for the increasing force effect by velocity to still be present. That one starts wearing off at gains higher than 70's.
    So yes, as you say at the end, low-ish gain at first, then use it to fill in, but at the same time being careful on not overdoing gain as well as LFB. It's really hard to say what works best for other wheelbases however :)

    Karsten your knocking it out of the park, loving ver .27 !
    You fixed exactly what I was referring to with the cornering forces.
    It's feeling so good out of the box I'm going to stop any further tweaking and just drive :)

    Could anyone please post his settings for CSW2.5? Both driver and in-game?
    I tried the one recommended in the official Fanatec forums but it's simply horrible...
    Sorry for the possible off-topic request...

    Thanks dear, I started from the slightly heavier version 80-80-70-5 ... I removed some clipping peaks going down to (70-75) -80-70-5 ... I ALSO TRIED THE V10 GEN 2 AND MP4 ALWAYS AT SPA AND IT'S WONDERFUL ... SO I THINK THAT WITH THE CARS ENOUGH STABLE (BOTH WITH OPEN WHEELS AND COVERED) GO GOOD ... I KNOW THAT YOU HAVE CENTERED THE SIGN :cool:... GREAT FILE!!!;)
    Now I am left with the problem of being able to tune in with the more swaying cars such as the Catheran, Le F. Retro and Vintage without dropping the values themselves too much ... if I can, I start to optimize the file even if I think that this time there is little to tune!!!:whistle:

    I know ... the LFB is high but with these qualities I don't want to sacrifice myself for a few cars ... we'll see ...

    Thanks .......

    .47 is very good :) Have done some preliminary testing, and haven’t changed anything in the file besides setting suspension_scale to 0.9 as that is what it was supposed to be. Other settings feel nice out of the box :)
    I may turn down scrub slightly (personal taste), but have to test a few more car first.

    I’ve now turned off all filters on my DD1, even speed sensitive damping is off, as the oscillations are a lot more controlled now. Again, very nice work by Karsten and his associates :)

    (DD1, high end file)

    I just tried .47 and find it very good. Thank you.
    I'm using a T300rs in game Gain 90, LFB 50, FX 50, Damping 50. Using the mid version of .47
    TM control is 80, 100, 100, 0, 0
