It's a more simplistic tyre model, but can be more easily tuned to feel somewhat accurate. Niels Heusinkveld made a really good video on this subject last year. Physical tyre models can be far more detailed and accurate but are easier to get wrong. Remember the early pandemic iRacing "fix your tyre model" whining from IRL race drivers?

AC definitely is showing its age, but it's often the most predictable. In particular, IMHO, it feels really good with road cars, low/no downforce, and drifting. It's missing some key things, like a proper rubbered line, changing track conditions, weather system (without shelling out to some dude's Patreon account), etc. On the flipside, Kunos opened the door to the community to create mods, and the modding community has been able to keep the title alive. Even with it's single point tyre model, it's good enough for most people to be able to hop in, run LA Canyons or Shutoku with friends, and have a good time.

Also, where else am I gonna drift supercars around Bristol dirt oval?

    Guys a little heads-up:

Leaderboards are now cleared and not open to laptime submissions for a few days.

You can still use the Time Trial mode with its functionality as a game mode, but laptimes will not be saved to leaderboards for a short period of time.

It will go live again with the release of the next update!

Figured it was coming soon. GTE's are 2-3 seconds slower in laptime on some tracks after some recent updates. (I used to have the Long Beach GTE record, so I know where average laptime compared to top times.) So ready for the rest of the CART pack.

@CrimsonEminence there will be a webleaderbord. Where you can see the sector times and driving aids?

Actually you can have track conditions effect both in Game and through Content Manager

and there is also file editing Options to alter track surface if you want to simulate gravel for rally type conditions for example

last but not least there is also available physics modification available in Content Manager that you can set by car

    yes you can?
You are talking about simple track and surface presets that are more or less static over the full session. That has nothing to do with dynamic system. With AMS dynamic conditions you can have changing the surface dynamic dependend to weather conditions, night and day temperatures, rain etc.
Sol Mod and CM simulate nice visuals, but not much on track physics. And as long there is no real CM Server, you'll always have people that drive on daylight while others have night conditions. Nice eye catching mod, but lacks many features and is very buggy in professional/league use. Because you are not aware that all participants have same conditions and same versions installed.
Please don't compare apples with grapefruits.

Times are not visible anymore in TT, but when loading a training or race, you still see the world record of car/track. So, they are still there in some database.

Yup perfectly possible! Doesn't matter for the process really, though. :)

Clearly you have no clue what CM does then
You have weather script that combined with cars so called extended physics will give you these dynamic changes that you are comparing it to
Sorry but I feel a sense of bashing AC here in this thread being dev Kunos original set or the guys behind SOL and CM work so I am leaving the conversation here

Just to confirm. Are leaderboards being wiped permanently? There have been so many physics & track limit changes recently. Existing times aren’t really relevant.

I know some people put a lot of time into hot lapping. But it’s important to be fair. As I’ve mentioned recently, Reiza could very easily engage more players, by having weekly Time Trial challenges. Use them to highlight new DLC content and so on.

It allows us mere mortals a fleeting moment in the sun. The lap might only stand for seconds, but the screenshot lasts a lifetime :D

Agreed, let's let people like the things they like without feeling the need to hate on another sim.

Honestly, the work the CM, CSP, and SOL teams have done to AC is mind-blowing. It's a testament to allowing modding support. Rfactor2 and AC have thrived well beyond their intended life-cycle because of the amazing community members who essentially kept developing the game.
