All to be picked apart by posters like you who are not satisfied with the end result.

Better that then posters like you who try to defend everything reiza does, as i said before, i love ams2, as i think almost everyone in here does, but that doesn't mean we cant be critical.

I don't try to defend everything Reiza does. You got that all wrong. I don't agree with their practice of releasing due dates and then constantly not meeting them. But thank you for stereotyping me because you can only see the world as black and white.

What I really have a big problem with is nobody here learning any lessons. How many times has Reiza not released stuff on time or let a few days slide? Its quite constantly. Its almost a certainty. Yet people here still act surprised/upset.

If you've stepped on ice 10 times and fallen 9 times. You can't tell me you are not expecting to slip the next time you step on ice. RIGHT!? Apparently not for many guys here.

Wait. 'Reiza has a proven track record of unreliability. All your hands have been burnt mNy times before, so none of you can criticise them'
    Uhh...yeah...right.

Okay, now we're through the raised eyebrow stage and into the madness.

Didn't think it would be quite this mad o_O

I've been following development of racing sims since the early 2000s.I can very confidently say that nothing changes, and developers cannot win.

    This is generally what happens:
    • A portion of users always demand release dates for updates and always complain when they are not met.
    • They may also latch on to any form of 'target' date as a 'promise' or 'commitment'
    • Delays in software development are very common. This is not unique to racing sims or even gaming.
    So:
    • If developers communicate delays, they get complaints about breaking promises or overcommitting.
    • If they communicate less, then then they get complaints they don't care enough.
    • If they're non-committal about dates ("we'll release when it's ready") they will get complaints about lack of commitment.

My personal view is that Reiza have found an imperfect but reasonable balance. We generally get monthly updates and monthly comms from the developers. Quite good compared to other racing sims.

Also my personal view is that users should understand and account for risk.
If you feel you would be the type to complain about the (very likely) event of a DLC delay, then don't pre-purchase it! Simply wait until it's released.
Secondly, when you buy a game, imagine that it will never be updated again. If you think you'd still get your money's worth anyway then go ahead and buy it. If not, wait until the game is in a state where you will get your money's worth and buy it then. But naturally, people want the best of both worlds.

    but why ,
unless it is going to be a delay.
at this stage there’s nothing to say,
update was due end of month. and it’s almost the end of month . will be start of next month for me regardless so who cares as long as it close .

Oh you can criticize them. You can also walk on ice and criticize it for being slippery again.

An AMS2 update is never late, nor is it early. It arrives precisely when it is meant to.

Update is imminent. Yes, there is one. No, it won't satisfy every single promise/past announcement/suggestion nor every single person.

Pretty much the same as every month.

P.S., it will have every update possible that the team could muster, since they have proven over many, many years that they do not withhold content or updates. In fact, they share so freely and enthusiastically that we berate them when new things are not polished. We rarely say thanks for providing new things while still WIP, DEPSITE THE FACT THAT NONE OF US NEEDS TO USE ANY OF THE WIP CONTENT IMEDIATELY IF WE ARE NOT INTERESTED IN WIP CONTENT. It is always an option to wait for the subsequent and inevitable polish/updates. For example, I'm still using Windows 10 because I'd prefer to let others tinker with those matters, but I am happy to try out a WIP AMS 2 item because Reiza is more often than not open to suggestions from us enthusiasts. Funny, Microsoft hasn't listened to a single one of my suggestions about Windows or Office for over 20 years...

i think a lot of people are missing the point here, going by the comments im seeing.
The big thing here and the most simple, is communication... for a couple minutes typing, copying and pasting to social media outlets, this entire conversation with petty things thrown back and forward wouldnt even be a thing.
its 2022, its the time where people want everything and they want it yesterday, thats just hard facts, so the best thing that can be done is to take those few minutes and post on social media. The difference that would to the comunity would be absolutely huge and stop all this bickering between people that are annoyed about release times and content thats not here yet.
People being annoyed because a dlc isnt there yet, is because they are excited for it, because lets face it, we all love what reiza makes and are keen to see more because of it, so its understandable to want it as soon as possible.
ive been chomping at the bit since i seen the GT3 aston photo, i want that more than anything else at the moment.
im pumped for Road America for sure, i cant wait, but that aston got my name all over it!
So... before jumping down each others throats, i think its important for people to read a comment, then actually think on it before quick fire shooting a message back written with a hot head, because i feel thats happening a lot here.

    Question to finish my post....
What would all you guys think if Reiza gave me a beta code and let me stream the beta? why? so i can help find bugs and show off whats being worked on, to help keep the community up to date with where things are at. Maybe even let me help with social relations so i can let people know if an update will be on time, have the content expected or have a delay and why.
Its something ive thought for a long time could be a positive for the game and i really think it would help.....thoughts? @Renato Simioni

Yep, we've been spoiled by more regular updates than most other sim titles. We also knew going in that it's in WIP mode for at least the first few years. That keeps us drooling over what's next.

Funny thing though is that in it's incomplete state it's still one of the most comprehensive titles out there. Sure, AC has the most, but that's lots to do with mods. Out of the box, AMS2, has more cars than most people will ever drive. And it brings the most focus to historics as a whole than most without much modding required.

I think people are missing a very basic point here. Its not about "regular updates".. its about DLC that people paid for in good faith that listed components being delivered in Jan 2022. Its perfectly fine that things slip (as they did already).. that happens, but to not give any prior indication of how things are going for the expected Jan 2022 release of said paid DLC, then these customers start to get nervous.

Its just a simple case of managing customer expectations that wouldnt take anyone a huge amount of effort to do but would probably go a long way to avoid such pent up frustration.

    Are you sure?
Here's a sample of some comments when they did exactly that back in November to say an update will be a couple of days late due to a bug, but that a dev update can be expected shortly.
They can't win either way. That's the internet.
Much better for people to be reasonable. Hold on to your money if you're concerned about timelines, expect the expected, and don't act surprised when the expected happens. But that won't happen because, internet.

    Totally agreed.
You see, I worked for some years at the São Paulo Subway System. My job was to deal directly with the public. When things did go wrong with the trains (and we did have this kind of problem A LOT) passengers would go crazy if we didn't keep them informed. Not only every boss told me this but it's actually a formal company procedure. We had to keep informing the passengers about the problem every minute. But we didn't need to tell them how long we would take to solve the problem. Actually we should NOT say anything about this because people hate broken promises, so you don't make promises. Just say it's gonna be fixed eventually.
Keeping people informed is transparency and transparency is important to keeping the trust of your clients.

Okay, we're not talking about public transportation here. We're talking about a videogame and no one is gonna die. But I really think Reiza should keep in touch more often because this studio can't risk the trust of the average players.
First they said the remaining content would be released around Christmas. Nothing. And not a single word about it. We had to wait until December 31 with more promises. Then they said before the end of the month. Probably it will take some more days and, again, not a single word about this. Actually if it were not by beta testers making videos we would be oblivious to the current state.

I personally don't care too much about these delays. Actually I love when developers prioritize quality over quantity or releasing unfinished content. Developers such as Ghost Ship Games (Deep Rock Galactic) and Hinterland Studios (The Long Dark) are these kind of developers. And, of course, Reiza.
I don't mind waiting 2 more months, to be honest. I love this game and these developers. But I fear that the lack of communication and transparency may not be very good to the health of this game, especially around not so enthusiastic players. Wanna an example? Just take a look at the Steam forums discussions. It just looks like Twitter. People are going complete bananas thinking they have been cheated or something like that.

And all of this could've been attenuated with a simple 3 lines text, a simple Twitter post. "Sorry but we will have to delay the release. But we are working on it. It's gonna be worth. Trust me". Done.

Therefore I must insist: Reiza needs to improve their communication. Especially with the not so enthusiastic player base (which is those who hardly come to this forum).
