Say, has rF2 gotten any more playable with the new UI update? I heard the AI is still...questionable, but in the sort of AMS2 "offseason" I've been trying to get back into sims I stopped touching after latching onto this one

 

Of course! Loading times are so much better now, and setting up, starting and quitting out of a session is like a proper game . It's night and day compared to December. I personally think the AI is comparable to AMS2 in terms of quality. I think that's a good thing...others won't!

 

Perhaps I might try reinstalling it if I have a week or 2 to spare for everything to install

 

Could still use some work on those insane slip angles lol. Literally have to drift to compete at the top level.

Heres a look from my prospective as a long suffering RF2 user, hope this answers some questions for you, does look like the sim might finally be getting some much needed attention in certain areas, thats my hope anyway!

Yeah, the new UI is much improved. It makes getting setup and into a session much easier and faster. They really need to add a live FFB-gain adjustment, though.

If S397 can pick up the pace and solve some long-standing issues for offline play, rF2 can get to a much better place, imo. The new-new UI is one step in the right direction.

 

Seriously guys, but is it really worth to set on fire an entire forum for a few hours of delay? Instead of delivering the update on January 31st it's coming on February 1st. Is this really enough to throw these tantrums every month like our lives depended on this?

 

I was fearing the worst and expecting a delay until mid-Feb or something, having it (probably) come today feels relieving

 

It's almost as if this happens every time a deadline is missed without any kind of comment from Reiza...

 

To me it feels like waiting for a reason (any for that sake) to set a forum on fire...

 

Well, whilst i wait eagerly for the impending update I decided to go and enjoy a combo I know works well which is GT3's @ Brands Hatch with weather going from dry to wet, and i must say, i've just had a bloody good time! Reasons why I know this combo works well: The GT3's slick and wet tires work properly/as you'd expect, unlike the GT1's who's hard slicks are better in the wet than their wets (something I sincerely gets fixed with this new update). Also with these cars at this track the A.I. skill level that suits me well atm is 110%, now im about equally as fast as them in the dry, and when it rains and we've all changed to wets, its the same story, which is brilliant! With some car/class'es they really slow down too much in comparison to me in the wet (copared to them being equal to me in the dry) (Stock cars for example) or they become unrealistically fast in the wet (GT1's for example, although maybe thats down to that weird tire compound problem i just mentioned). So im looking forward to this becoming the same for all cars, as I know Reiza are gradually working through all the cars. So theres a bit about what I look forward to but, yeah, whilst i wait, im having a fecking good time with these!!! Well, that and furiously restarting steam after every race session, just incase!

Tell you what, with this update, whats just happened with RF2 and the new announcments today, and the coming new goodies for ACC, it does feel a litle like Christmas again! We are lucky muthfudgers us sim racers ai'nt we!
