Hi all, I bought recently AM2 and I am not able to make it work properly. Sooner or later the frames slowdown in for some seconds, while the race continue. It makes not possible to do any race. I am using a laptop, but I think it has min. requirements to make it works: CPU i7-7700HQ 2.80GHz RAM 16GB Nvidia GeForece GTX 1050 Game installed in SSD of 512GB. I did clean installation of OS, I have tried to disabled the Antivirus and any other process in background, I have reduced some of the graphics requirements in the game and I set in Nvidia Panel the Performance Configuration. None of this worked. Is there anyone with similar HW? Can you recommend me a configuration?
I guess the bottleneck is the GTX 1050. Make sure everything is set to medium, particularly track detail and shadows, also I would recommend full screen anti aliasing to low (2x) or off and use of FXAA medium instead. NO render upscaling. I ran it on a GTX 1060 before and even there. anything above "high" detail setting with medium AA (4x) was too much. The main limiting factor is the memory interface width of only 128-Bit.
Thx! I set 1080p 59Hz and everything to Low in the Game GUI. I do not remember 'full screen anti aliasing' config and FXAA. in the GUI of the game. I will double check it or change it in Nvidia Control Panel
Thx. Both parameters are Low or OFF (I will confirm it). Regarding the number of cases I was testing all changes with same conditions: Start race in Imola and 15 cars. The issue is happening always at the start line or any chicane (when many cars are in the same frame). I can start a test with less cars or not cars... but if I cannot support 15 cars, maybe it does not make sense use this game.
Jus tot make clear my issue: For some seconds the image goes very slow while the game and sound continue fine. After these 3 or 4 seconds image speed up and game continue properly. With the help of google translator I found a guy with similar issue: Travando, não otimizado para multicore? and he found a possible reason: "After analyzing for two weeks, I realized that the game is not balanced for multicore. CPU-1 is overloaded, while the others are "quiet". I made an image for comparison with the game F1 2019 (codemasters), which runs perfectly here " I will explore also that possibility
Is your GPU hitting the temperature limit? I have a laptop similar to yours (Nvidia MX 350 GPU) and when it hits the temp limit it switches to the onboard gpu for a couple seconds. To know if it hits the temp limit, I use MSI Afterburner tool, in monitor mode, there is a graph that shows when the GPU hit the temp limit.
Yeah. But what makes it even worse is that a 1050 in a laptop isnt even up to the level of a 1050 in a desktop PC. nVidia does brand them equal but in action they are not. So that does make a rather borderline g-card even under the useable border if we does talk about gaming at a reasonable fps and graphic quality.
I get 60fps with a Nvidia 1050Ti GPU and a Xeon 3.07GHz CPU on medium settings unless the weather conditions are very demanding (night, heavy rain, etc.). Replays will play smoothly at 60fps for a few seconds but stutter when more than one car is visible.
Thx for the input. I tried this config, but it neither work. I was expecting that because apart of some differences where you are setting medium I am already setting low. I confirmed I have not same issue, in Task Manager the process has access to all Cor a es This is a good point, I did not check that. I will get the tool and make some analysis. Some points I confirmed in Task Manager when the issue happens is: Game is using GPU of Nvidia, even when game is minimized and I am in task manager sometimes the used memory of GPU achieve 4GB dedicated, it is 100%. It explain game is hanged, the point is why it uses 4GB when game in that moment is minimized. I discard SW issue becuase everthing was installed, so I suspect now about possible HW issue. Can you recommend any tool to check the graphic card status?
But without getting too stobborn about this GPU version issue then your 1050Ti /Xeon 3.07GHz is quite another ballgame than a mere laptob 1050. Yeah I even think your system will benchmark better than my 1060/Xeon x5670(slightly oc). So..
I did some more test using the tool you suggested me here. I confirmed AMS2 pick the Nvidia GPU, but it switches to integrated GPU because it Nvidia GPU is overloaded. The point is to know the reason why it achieve 100% of usage. Checking hte temperature in Nvidia tool I achieve about 75ºC when it happens. I think it is too high, but limit is in 100ºC, right? I saw the fps start to increase up to 120 (aprox) when CPU is overloaded and then they are dropped until 1 when start to slow down. How much fps is the expected amount? I limited to 61 fps (I am not sure if that is related but the output of the card is at 59Hz) and using that value (with all graphics to low) the issue is not happening and the temperature stay at 55ºC. Of course, the quality of the video is not too good. If I increase the graphic config. to Medium issue happen again. I think the key here is to know why %Usage of CPU goes to 100%. Any suggestion?? GPU usage at 100% is normal, it means the game is optimized to use as much of your GPU as possible. The reason why it switches to integrated GPU is probably something else (either temp, voltage, power, etc), there is a graph in that tool that will show you the reason (temp limit, power limit, etc). It depends on your laptop model, you can search it online. I have two laptops with a nvidia mx350 GPU and one of them has a GPU temp limit of 70C and the other 74C. Glad you found a way to prevent the issue. 60 FPS should be fine to play. You can try increase some of the graphic quality settings individually instead of all.
Intel DPTF has pretty aggressive power throttling that kicks in far below the actual thermal limit, if you suspect that this is the issue you can try disabling it: Easily Disable Intel DPTF (Power Throttling) for Good Thermal throttling should remain active regardless.
When you increase your resolution, the GPU can't draw as many frames per second, and the load is lightened on the CPU, because it is calculating updates for fewer frames in the same amount of time. When you decrease your resolution, the GPU then draws more frames per second, and the load is increased on the CPU, because it is calculating updates for more frames in the same amount of time. Summary: More resolution = less CPU load. Less resolution = more CPU load.
