What's really hilarious is trying to tell someone how to run their business, when you're not privy to the inner workings of it.

This is ridiculous. The cheerleading squad here are just too sensitive. All I actually said was that I am happy with the amount of content, and that I'd prefer what we have to get better polish and suddenly the pom poms come out talking about modellers and a bunch of total nonsense.
It wasn't even a negative comment but some of you are so shook and defensive you go on the attack with the slightest comment.
I never said "fire this guy and hire that guy" you guys got all that drama from ONE simple sentence.
The guy above me said it was turning into a wishlist and I was merely pointing out my wish was for more polish, not content and 3 of you had a temper tantrum, hence my LOL.

    I agree with you.
Nobody is telling Reiza how to run their business, nor suggesting that 3D modellers take a vacation. And its also true that even when there are separate streams of activity that can run concurrently using different resources, that does not mean that it's impossible to weight focus towards improvements rather than new features. Anyone who thinks that, does not understand software development.

I suppose they could put all the 3D modellers to optimise track models for performance improvements. I don't know how well that would fly with the people who in two weeks will be crying blue murder because Historic Spa and Historic Nordschleife aren't coming out.

I definitely won't cry blue murder, but I'm also very much looking forward to Historic Spa and Historic Nordschleife.
Like anything in life, software development is a balancing act. Nothing is black and white. Everything is a shade of grey.

thats right, but i see in every beta release (https://steamdb.info/app/1066880/patchnotes/) that there is constantly worked on already released content.
As we don't know anything about their internal distribution of workload for different processes and jobs its pointless to argue this way.

Report and help instead of constantly nag on the same infinite loop.
If something is reported , best with good documentation like how to replicate, supported by video and screenshots its on the list. Once is enough for a developer. Its counterproductive to repeat it again and again.
Do you have children. If yes, you should understand. If no, hell you'll learn it some day :)

Some people will never learn that asking developpers to focus on fixing existing content for a while before releasing new content does not mean we want everybody to be fired.

Ive mentioned Rainbow Six siege before, but Marco Massarutto, (founder of Kunos Simulazioni, the company responsible for making Assetto Corsa Competizione) has recently said in an interview that the reason they didnt put out new content for a while was because they were mostly focussing on update 1.8.

In this “recent” update they updated Unreal Engine to v.4.26
    Implemented NVIDIA DLSS
    Implemented AMD FSR
Physics engine and tyre model updates

And on top of that they released the BMW M4 GT3 2022 as free DLC

Again, nobody is asking Reiza to drop everything else/fire everybody.
Its called “allocating resources” and its nothing new in the world of game development.

But yeah maybe it doesnt work like that for Reiza because they are structured different.
Or maybe they need the money from new content in order to keep developping the game.
Both are totally fine, were merely mentioning things so Reiza knows whats important for (at least part) of their fanbase.
They can do with that info whatever they please and I will keep playing their game regardless.
So put down the pitchforks and start actually reading instead of jumping to dumb conclusions like saying we want people fired.
    Its not helping anyone.

You may have noticed that ACC development is pretty much stopped for a long time and it seems by what's dripping on the specialist sites that AC2 has not really kicked in yet as the decision on which engine they would use wasn't made. That means most of the developers from the ACC work were free.
For Reiza/AMS2 it is not the same case. Development is still heavily ongoing and there is no people idle.
Also you will probably notice that AMS2 isn't the "official simulator of ...." which even to a non-professional of simracing like me should tell that while Kunos had backing from the promoter of the series, Reiza has the backing of pretty much no-one and this financially and from the standpoint of personnel hiring and management makes a big difference.
That is even before discussing who, among the developers, is currently really available to produce work, since I understand all Kunos developers are in Italy near Vallelunga, while some of the developers from Reiza are in the vicinity of war.
In simple words, there are so many things we don't really know well that we should refrain from passing too much judgment on those things.
I think the message on putting additional focus on QOL improvements has been passed more than once. Since Reiza is likely not suicidal I am pretty sure what can be done in the given scenario is indeed being done: to me it is clear that Reiza has taken onboard this feeling from users, for example if I am not wrong last update brought the long requested changes to the ICM menu. Many people don't appreciate the fact that it took some re-coding although in many ways it doesn't seem like a huge thing to alter. If I had to bet, the core game coder that worked on that is the same coder that will work on the next QOL improvement, whatever it will be, maybe something related to MP or to the controllers recognition etc.
Although I also am rooting for more QOL improvements and ideally a faster pace for them, if we really look (not too) hard, we may be able to understand patterns in what gets released.
In the meantime, the 3D modelers need to still work, feed their families and Reiza needs to make their licenses generate money, Renato will care about their physics and other guys will work on setups and the models under the hood of each car with zero impact on QOL improvements
So in this respect there is no decoupling QOL from content possible or even logically advisable and I believe we should have all understood this by now.

I have seen first hand some on going QOL work to the audio that has been driving me crazy since release, it is certainly seems a time consuming task but looks to be paying off finally. So on top of all the other improvements and QOL I'm sure there is a timeline amd order of process Reiza are working to. There is enough to keep even me (the fussiest or sim racers) busy with what is currently available and all we really have left (on the content side) is our own personal favourite classes and tracks.

Can't say I've noticed that at all, and I rarely play or follow the title.
But I still see regular updates in steam and update news on other forms like RD.
They recently released a physics/aero update, added some performance enhancing features (DLSS)
Brought the game to console and have an upcoming DLC with several new cars confirmed already.

That was the first significant update in a long time. The previous updates were three lines long... The presence in RD is obviously more a commercial matter...
Like I said, it doesn't seem like AC2 is taking off yet as the engine wasn't chosen until a few weeks ago so definitely ACC crew was available for many other things unlike AMS2's.
Also from what has been published on the specialist sites the console version of ACC is followed by an entirely different team linked to Kunos but not directly Kunos. Money buys you a lot of things this days ;)

    AC2 is really promising.

Would be very very neat if the F1 teams would contribute somehow to the development this time around, given they use the shell of AC in their US$ 1 mi pro simulators. Something like adding parameters they feel like are missing from the current AC, and real data that would make physics as real as it can possibly get.

Lastly, an egoistical, unpopular and impossible desire: no GT3/GT4.

Sorry for the offtopic, but there is nothing currently to report on AMS2 1.3.4.0, except for the missing features we are awaiting :)

They use AC now? I could always swear rF Pro was the sim choice, unless they simply just moved on

That was indeed the first “significant” update in a while, which was exactly what I was talking about…
Your post seems slightly contradictory tho, you say nothing has come out in a long time, and the devs were not doing anything because of the decisions being made on the engine.
Seems to me they would have plenty of time to develop new content if that were the case…

In the time you say they were “idle” they made huge improvements to the engine as I have mentioned before. They just slowed down on the new content for a while to focus on said improvements. Again, according to Kunos CEO Marcos Massarutto in a recent interview.

That said, they have 5 new cars to be released next week, including two non GT3 cars. They also announced new tracks from the GT World Challenge coming in the near future including COTA.

I understand the budget difference between the two developers and that can absolutely have a lot to do with it.

And just to be clear, even though theres already a ton of content in AMS2 I understand why people also want more tracks, especially the crowd favorites.
I trust the devs will make the right decisions even if they dont suit my personal preference.

I said it HAD been stopped for long time. The concurrent fact that AC2 was not proceeding for the time being meant they had no real business hence they could upgrade some core stuff that probably wasn't the highest priority earlier on. I don't see any contradiction in that and I don't see the utility in playing semantics. I believe the concept was fairly clear: they had not much going on for at least the preceding 6 months, maybe almost a year in terms of engine as AC2 did not really start hence the opportunity.
AMS2 is not at the stage where the sim is completed and the next sim has not started (neither content wise nor engine wise) so they can't focus an "otherwise idle" core game programmers big team on "nice to have" stuff.
Also AMS2 is paying licenses for cars they likely have not yet released which makes obviously a higher priority delivering that content not to be at a financial loss (by the way this forum is full of "why car xyz that was teased is not released" as much as it is full of "no more content spend all your time on QOL improvements").
ACC instead has completed their cycle on the main product (GT3 and GT4) and now can put their modelers on let's say additional "side content" that is less core in the grand scheme of their game (in facts there has been historically little to no popularity to the Lambo ST and PCup) or on model year updating of cars already in the game.
If I am not wrong, the last time a new track was added to ACC was Imola and was more than a year ago.
Don't get me wrong, they do great job in managing their content, but how many tracks and variants has Reiza released in the last year and half? How many new cars (i.e. completely new, not slight adjustment of physics for an "EVO" model and a set of new liveries)?
Again you seem to mix things:
The coders that work on improvements on the engine are not the same coders that work new content. They do different things and use different software. There is likely no relation between the two things you are trying to relate other than maybe a commercial strategy not to overlap "significant" releases so as to keep the hype recurring more often.

They weren't using the "real" simulator in the video--it was the e-sports sims. AFAIK, most F1 teams do still use a variation of rF Pro, including Ferrari despite the Italian connection.

No the last was the British GT pack, but yes, it was over a year ago. Kunos may have financial backing as well as a good amount of money from AC sales, but they are way more restricted in what they can bring to the sim because they are an SRO partner.

Single tracks wouldn't really make sence (apart from the still missing Magny-Cours), so they need to put in the work to release a track pack, which takes a lot of time and licensing quibble. Covid restrictions probably also don't make it easier to go somewhere for a scan and photographs.

The Challengers pack is nice, but I don't think any of the cars will see much use, apart from the Audi EVO. Other than two missing GT4 cars and the GT2 class nobody is interested in, there just aren't any cars left to add at this point.
