I installed the firmware according the manual which you can find in the zip file. It is a very easy process, it is next, next, next and finish, it even detects all your connected Fanatec gear and ask if you want to calibrate it. The whole process has been simplified compared to a few years ago.

Yeah I did it that way also but it fails to find my base :( Maurice from Fanatec said I need to RMA my base because it's sleeping or something, lol. It still works in game so I will just stay on 381 firmware and buy a DD when they are in stock.

It's 5 years old, I will have to pay for a repair for something I don't notice is wrong when in game, it just doesn't like this particular update, I can install all other drivers, so really i think it's a driver thing because there are others on the Fanatec forum with older bases doing the same thing.
I should still be able to sell it without issue.

If you're really into oval stuff Iracing is probably the place which covers almost everything car and track wise. So if money doesn't matter this is the place. No other sim comes close regarding oval racing.

There's a downtime on the 7th I believe so you can just buy the subscription and a couple of tracks but try all the cars for free while the test drive is on. Other than that I'm going to wait for ams 2

yeah I suppose so. Rfactor 2 has good content too but AMS2 ai is just better. I also get bored of iRacings same track and car for a whole week. Maybe I’ll wait for ams2 :/

Thank you Reiza for yet another great update.

Question - is there a list somewhere of which cars have / have not received the reworked tyres/physics? I'm a big fan of the Formula Vintage era cars, but it's unclear if these have had any/all of the updates done yet...

Yeah not sure if iracing is for you. Iracing is so expensive, you have to buy 12 tracks to partake in every week of a series, and its a bit of a rip off as they don’t come with a single right-turn!

I keep checking to see if they have been updated but not so far as I can tell. It is a bit disappointing tbh, Renato made a big statement about their love and support for vintage content which I am mostly interested in, particularly the tracks but sadly we have not seen that in the development cycle. With the last statement regarding vintage Spa it could be as late as the end of December before we actually see it, more than 2 years after it was promised.

I would send it back. It is not a cheap device and when it does not work like it should be they have to fix it. I also want a DD by the way although it probably stay on the I want list.

Is there a reason why a lot of the default setups have brake pressure set to only 90%? Is that just a workaround for issues with brakes locking up too easy, because it seems to me you take a bit away of the actual performance of the car.

Most sim racing hardware still has potentiometer brakes with quite soft springs, which is indeed more difficult to handle with "realistic" brake torque. The 90% are a compromise so all the hardware applies on a good middleground. I certainly encourage to explore setting it to 100% to see if it might actually fit better. :)
