I use a mouse to go thru the menus. I race online with crew chief so I use one button to talk to crew chief and a different button for push to talk for discord. Despite checking these buttons had nothing mapped in control settinge I found if I'm in staging screens or other in lobby menus these buttons do stuff. Lol almost found out the hard way last night the button I used for push to talk "undid" my ready up. So by trying to say "good luck" right before race unreadied me and I almost missed it. Any way to get buttons to not do stuff in the menus, when they don't show up as mappable?
I hope someone comes up with an answer for this, it is a complete pain in the ar5e. I have been trying to find a workaround for this for ages, but it falls on deaf ears. It does seem to be wheel dependant too on what buttons interfere this way. My ts pc racer and t500 had the problem, but the t300 didnt do this (i think, i didnt have it long)
the buttons are mappable in game to car functions. The problem is they seem to have lobby/menu potentially hard coded controls.
An outside option would be to add a Streamdeck to your rig. Then you can map the buttons for discord to it and keep the default ingame buttons
Well yea of course can just map to other things. but i'm a simple man and i want the button on my wheel that says 'radio' to function as radio. Its more I'd rather the wheel didnt do lobby menu functions especially since theres no tool tips or prompts that those buttons would do anything in menu. Or if they going to be there, have prompts so you know this button does something in the lobby. its all guess and check. and personally i use the mouse to navigate the lobby menus i dont want the wheel to do anything there Seems they do different things depending on if i had something lighted with the mouse. if i didnt it seemed to prompt exiting the lobby, if I was over some ones name in the leader board it would pop up the info to like mute or friend them, if i was readied up and hit it, it would un-ready.
Try to use Custom buttons to bind, buttons on your wheel or button-box, (Probably you have to use a Custom Profile to avoid hard-coded functions?) Although, most keys on the keyboard don't have hard-coded functions and are also use-able, Trial and Error. I know you should stay away from the NumPad keys, they are bound hard-coded. To get more freedom in defining buttons I use a combination of CrewChief AutoHotKey and NirCMd to readdress buttons, use macros and bind my AMS2 Windows Volume, so I can do all kinds of things from my wheel, Start CrewChief in case I forget and I'm on track without it !!,change pit-strategy, adjust volume of the game while driving and still I have some of these functions also available on my keyboard Here you can find an example: How to adjust AMS2 volume only while on track
I was starting to look at things like joy2key or similar programs. Is that kinda what your describing? Use that to call the buttons on the wheel I'm having issues with in menus as generic keys that don't do anything in menus?
