the amount of coping in this forum is out of this world really. end of july now just means early august.

i always feel like some people here never in their lives had to meet a certain date on their job, a customer demanding on time construction etc.

Since the upcoming content hasnt even been announced publicly, there will be no update soon.

Where does it say 'close to'? Not saying you're wrong, just I might have missed it. The OP says "towards the end of" which typically means 'before'. And says the dev diary was said to "arrive sooner than you may expect!"

And if the update was planned for late July, then I'd 'expect' the update to be around the same time. Perhaps unfairly, because the last couple of diaries have been after the accompanying patch.

To reiterate, 100% understand that delays happen and I have zero problems with that, especially with how well the game is coming along and how good the communications are when they arrive. But it takes two mins to post a forum update saying "no dev diary or update this weekend folks, we're running behind and will update you next week".

That said, really looking forward to finding out about new content and game rules, I'm not expecting oval racing perfection but my expectations have not been managed! Hopefully the ovals come with some infield variants too.

This is precisely why companies have nothing to gain from making public statements, and for the very same reason why accounting actually has to recognize some simple statement in their Liability, as it creates real expectations for the users.

Why do you folks need so desperately these dev updates? Are you guys facing a difficult decision to make and desperately need dev update info to make the call?

Every month is the same bizarre thing happening lol

It's called being passionate, we don't need them, we just love the sim. We also just like to discuss stuff about the game and that include it's future content, communications and when we will get them, not special, happens everywhere.

"It's called passion, Toto. We just love AMS2."

Because the product Reiza is selling isn't just a racing sim, it's a journey, the journey of an ever-growing, ever-evolving creation where the wishes and recommendations of the community are more closely than usual intertwined with what's happening behind the scenes.

With every dev update, that community engagement gets rewarded and fed, and this is why they are an essential part of what makes AMS2.

I watched F1 qualifying this morning, I just watched Indy race this afternoon, I'll be watching F1 race tomorrow morning, then watch Brazilian Stock Car tomorrow after lunch.
I'm a not an official Reiza spokesperson but my guess is that there will be no news or updates today or tomorrow, so enjoy your weekend just like I'm doing. :)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying delays and lack of communication are acceptable, but there have been extra beta test races this week, things have been very busy in the beta forum. Delays and lack of communication suck but judging from the videos I've watched the wait will be worth it, probably the reason we haven't got any news yet is because they're working hard on fixing some issues so that we get something decent whenever the RC is released.

I fully agree with you. If they could post sneak peeks it would make the wait more fun and better

I love if they would publish the update without bugs, but I believe they have a little lack of communication on what is happening

    They would become a liability.

If for whatever reason what was shown couldn't eventually be made available for release, the user base would cry 'promised and not delivered', even though nothing was actually promised.

Just like what is currently happening with 'dev updates'.

The plethora of messages panicked about the end of the month and wondering where is the dev update or where is the game update is what led Reiza to say less and announce less and promise less in recent months. Every missed update or delayed response was met with grumbling, even when miniscule in the overall scheme of things.

Everyone is excited. The people at Reiza are working literally around-the-clock to provide the best update possible. But Reiza is not a mega-corp with a PR department and customer service department. The people you see in the forum are all working members of the team. They can either spend their time working on the content of the sim or communicating about the sim. I know which one brings me more pleasure. Happy to read about upcoming plans AFTER this update is released and polished. Don't need to read about this update because it will be out soon and we can check it our for ourselves.

I'm sure the wait will be worth it. but i agree the communication has been woeful. no mention on if racing USA part 3 will meet its end of July deadline. no mention of the features of 1.4. communication with the community is definitely something they need to address. i'm not saying we need an update every week. but a little notice on progress made and delays would go a long way

I think Reiza keeps shooting themselves in the foot with maintaining the monthly update expectations. They'd be much better off and community less expectant too.

I do prefer regular updates but also it's not bad to just get the new stuff when it's ready, not when it's expected by the calendar. And it would clearly clean up the forum from those posts whinging that the update isn't up yet.

Chill people, the 1.4 update isn't the most important thing in the universe...

And actually, mega-corps usually don't release on time, and (more important) usually release low-quality content.

I'm also hyped, I have been coming the forum all week long. I think they probably messed up when said "sooner than you expect", creating the expectations we have. But if it comes in September it is not a big deal.

Well, this are my 2cents being a former software developer, now working in the academia: in software development delays are the norm, not the exception. Many people in the academia argue that there is no "software engineering". Computer Science is simply too young and we understand it too little to have a proper engineering discipline around it. Specially considering the trends of the industry. It is really not comparable to times in construction an so.

Can we just go back to chatting and having fun predicting the release date based on the heat and weather instead of arguing? Really, I'm not think we agree on who's taking stuff to seriously

It's called a forum, Toto. We went chatting.

EDIT: Just like Gevatter below me, this guy gets it!
