Hmm, this is reminding me of whats going on with the Caterhams, the more powerful models when going over the crest at Flugplatz on the Nordschleife at full speed without lifting. the front of the car litterally lifts up in the air and cause's you to crash, now, that aint right. Its not like the road flatens out and theres a little lift from the front, the front just lifts up like its some kind of terrible aero disaster! This car is not relient on aero, is not fast enough either and also the engine is in the front! This used to be a problem with the Super V8 aswell but Reiza has sorted that out over time. I've not got time at the moment to make a video example but I'll leave this here in the mean time to show what i mean, luckily its nowehere near to this extent, the front does come down again, but you get the idea hopefully.

    Hi @CrimsonEminence,

Hope you doing well so far :)

I did what you suggested but its still the same. Very slippery on ovals with F-USA Gen1-3.

I deleted manually C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Automobilista 2\savegame\[gameID]\automobilista 2\vehiclesetups) and checked the livetrack preset and with warm tires aswell....

Any other recomendation for fix or shal I delete everything and reinstal virgin AMS2?

    Kind regards!

I would suggest this, but delete the folders after deinstallation via steam!
    Under documents and steam common.
First you can try to delete only the AMS2 folder ander documents an set up the game new, recalibrate your wheel. If this does not help, see above.:)
    Report back would be nice.

There may be some variations possible as mentioned by someone above--a bit more grip on dried grass, a bit less on wet green grass, etc. But the overall grip level on grass is probably closer in AMS 2 than in any other sim I have tried (where there is more grip than in real life). It's not an arcade game and hitting the grass with all four wheels in real life racing is most often either a race-ending manouevre or an invitation to rejoin at the back of the field.

Of course, another issue is to ensure that the AI have the same level of grip as the player.

I just noticed that some tracks completely disappeared from the track selection for me, the ones I noticed are Spa, Nürburgring and Laguna Seca. They still appear in the championships they are part of though.

I don't exactly know when this happened and I already verified the files to no success. Anyone else notice something similar or has an idea how to get them back without reinstalling?

Again, this is realistic. There is lots of footage out there showing race cars on slicks unable to even make it back to the track on wet/soaked grass. These are tires with no tread designed specifically to grip warm asphalt. Even concrete or other surfaces wreak havoc with their grip.

If racing with slicks, grass should be considered the same as a gravel trap. It is outside the white lines and other than it looks nicer and is easier to maintain, it plays the same role as a gravel trap or a hard barrier on a street course. Don't go there.

I understand it is frustrating that you can turn off damage and drive with aids and ricochet the car around a street course like it was a game console racer with no penalty, but you cannot do the same on a road course surrounded by grass because the grass has no equivalent unrealistic setting.

This is something that could perhaps be looked at in the future--to create a true beginner/no penalty structure for all tracks--but I know that is not a priority given the overall philosophy of Automobilista (discussed above in other posts).

The gravel traps in AMS 2 are already less punishing than most in real life. I believe the grass is also, unless we can find a car and track combination where you literally cannot move the car on flat surface wet grass. Driving a car with slicks uphill on soaked grass better not be possible or I'll have to rage-quit using AMS 2 ;)

Grass and gravel feel very convincing right now in-sim. Hopefully this clip starts at the right moment. If not it's @ 3.33. Hammond really is just along for the ride as soon as he goes off the track. Very dry grass too.

    restart pc usually works.
Tracks can reappear whilst still in game after a race then go back to selection see if they are there.

Loaded driven wheel on the grass in a rear-heavy car = instant spin.

Much as I hate (running off into) the grass I don't find it unrealistic, less forgiving than other games but hey.

This is the thing that grinds my gears in any sim I play, AI grip level when going off road or colliding with the player - I want to see the AI go skittling off the same way I do on the grass or after a heavy-ish bump.

@Marc Collins Which gravel actually traps the car. Now we can just drive out of it. Although you lose lots of positions.

I lost it at Oulton Park yesterday or the day before, in AMS2. I think I set a new record for longest slide on grass without actually hitting anything.

It's been many years since I last did it in real life, but in VR in AMS2 it feels very much like I remember! :D

@Oubaas I hate Goiania sometimes. If someone loses it.. They will drift all over the place potentially hitting cars on the other side of the track.. Happened a few times. Fun track, tho!

Goiania is a fun track but I'm pretty sure the line you need to take through that last corner is most-corners-on-Londrina-tier "what on earth do I do there"

I have made a strange find. When going up Eau Rouge/ Radion with default+, I don’t feel any force feedback except a dampening effect. When doing the same thing with default I can feel a lot more. I didn’t change a thing except type. What could cause this. I did this with GT3 cars, but I think it also happened with GT1 Mercedes.

I was making a jokey comment rather than addressing the IRL point which I think is a totally ridiculous as well as moot. Having grown up in and around fields I have driven cars with far less power than 99% of those in the game on grass many times. Grass is slippery, period, even in a sub 100hp banger.

Dry or wet, Miscanthus sinensis or Poa pratensis, grass doesn't give good grip without specialist tyres.

I am guessing you have probably never driven a 1000hp car with slicks on grass. I'm also guessing you've rarely, if ever, driven any car at 60MPH+ on grass.

All of that aside, do I think they should make grass less punishing for people who end up on it so they can drive straight back onto the track at full speed? No. No I don't.

Don't end up on the grass or in the gravel, if it is a wheel or two you can get away with it, if it's more, you did something to earn the penalty that comes with it.

In real life racing that is how it goes too, Bottas ended up beached on gravel just recently and there are countless examples of drivers ending up deep onto the grass and struggling to get back on track quickly or at all.

I don't have a problem with the grass, perhaps it is a little more slick than it would be but I can't say for sure, however it is totally manageable if you use your accelerator sensibly, which, incidentally, is exactly what you do have to do in real life.

But hey, when the focus moves to the extreme pack and off-roading, the different surfaces will probably get some love and some tyres to handle them.
