So it looks it makes sense to race them against the group C already in the game, I was looking for some informations on that Corvette GTP, a team even tried racing it in Le Mans with a 10 liter V8 but had electrical problems and didnt qualify. But IMSA from the 80's is a mistery to me, there is GTP, then there is GTO, I dont understand if they raced together, or if one replaced the other, but sure both have some amazing cars.

YES YES YES!!!!! Love everything about this bit, absoloutely everything! Yes on cars with low wings (F1 and such), lets have them bending or snapping off (depending on matirial of wing) if you drive straight into a really big, steep sausage kerb that they make contact with! Lets have punctures! Lets have damage to suspension assemblys if you take off in a jump and come down too hard (obviously this kind of damage has to be specific to the kind of car your driving). Is this what "suspesion stress-induced failures" means? God I hope it does! id love to see it, ive been banging on about it like a broken record for ages, you can finally shut me the fudge up if you do this!:D

The smoke effects sound great! I love the new engine failure smoke and the dark deisel smoke from the trucks (the truck are awsome btw!)

'revised engine power loss from wear' I love this one!
I love it because before the last update you would gradually loose engine performance as the % of engine damage went up, like a real life engine gradually loosing horses as it gets older and looses pressure through wear and so forth (process thats a million times faster in race cars than the family hatchback of course). Then after the update we got all the new features like coolant leaks and stuff (brilliant btw) but the engine wear became simplified and you would retain the same engine power reguardless of weather you had 1% wear or 86%. the engine just stayed the same until it blew at 100%.
When this happened I thought to my self (and i can only guess as i don't know for sure, but based on past experience because ive seen this happen with AMS2 a few times), "so the new features have been brought in, but they've inturn slightly knackered a feature thats already there... I bet in the next update the fix whatever has caused that and we get the full functionality of the old feature back, along with the new features and more aswell" Sounds like thats whats happeneing here, you guys are brilliant!

In terms of damage i'd love to see it refined more to each differnt car, it seems certain cars have contact sphere's (is that what they're called) which don't suit them. example being some F1 type cars. Turn damage up to full and drive car head on into pitlane wall at low speed of say 10mph or 15 mph maybe. No damage to front wing and nose, but suspension (which of course is behind that) gets damages). Maybe im not making too much sense, im too excited this weekend!

Oh but one thing! Please sort out the clutuch in the Corvette C3 R! Here's a report i made after an online session and i've tried the same thing offline driving like the cars made of glass and treating the gears and clutch like a new born baby and the same thing happens every time, its un raceable! Which is a shame cause its a fun car!

"Now im not sure if this next one is a bug or not, but the Chevrolet Corvette C3 R seems to have an unrealistcally brittle clutch. It brakes after just three laps of shifting with clutch and H-Shifter (no autoclutch). Strangely it seems to happen just by hitting top revs, and i dont mean totally riding the limiter, just hitting top revs before shifting up. 4 of us started a race and only one of us did'nt get a burn't out clutch after just 3 laps.
Surely its not meant to be like this else these cars would never, ever have finished a race?"

Anyway, im loving what im hearing! Looking forward to buying the next season pass!

Not a complaint but are the small graphical glitches during pitstops (bouncing cars, bouncy tire during changes, glitchey crew, etc) something that is on the radar? Not the most important thing but would be nice

On one hand, hacking this shameless is awful and puts a bad rep on ACC as well as making the game completely unfun for players

...On the other hand, this has to be one of the funniest videos I've watched in a sim since the iRacing grass exploit

GTP is what DPI was to LMP2 They are effectively Group C cars with slightly stricter safety rules to try and stop Porsche from entering the then all dominating 962. Porsche modified the car and entered anyway.

GTO are super silhouette GT cars such as the Audi Quattro, or Ferrari F40 LM. It literally means GT Over 3L these were the GT3's of their day albeit with 800 horsepower.

GTU are production cars under 3L, basically GT4 today.

Some races all 3 classes raced togeather, some races they had single class only races depending on the car count, pit space, and so on.

By the end of the GTP lifespan, GTP's had far outpaced the fastest Group C cars, as they were pushing 1200 horsepower. We just don't have the long, perfectly flat straightaways in america like in Europe or Japan where you could max one to their top speed.

GTO lasted into the attempted WSC, and then eventually became Rolex GT class. Also SCCA trans am cars are basically still 90's GTO cars underneath. Tube frame, massive engine, slicks.

GTU died with the rotory engine more or less, as that was the most popular and cheap motor to run and be competitive

God I hope we get the Group 44 Jag, all time favorite paint jobs on a racing car.

The RC Cola car is a close 2nd

Funny to think most of these guys were drug smugglers. Shout out to Randy Lanier, his book Survival of the Fastest is amazing!

GTP was basically IMSA's class of Group C cars. The Jaguars raced in IMSA, The Porsche's did as well. Toyota and Nissan came up with GTP cars that were different from their Group C entries though. GTO was the GT class during that time. They did race together, but they also ran separatly from time to time as well. Some iconic GTO cars are the Audi Quattro GTO the Mazda RX7 GTO the Mercury Cougar, Corvette GTO and Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo.

Very informative, thanks. I heard IMSA is bringing the GTP name back for the LMDH, that's pretty cool, I followed most of the 22 season on IMSA tv, some damn good endurance races, next year should be even better with all the new cars. It's a good time to be an endurance fan.

I think it confused me because the Audi, Nissan 300ZX and the others were so out of this world that I tought it was the top category at some point.
Imagine a full grid of GTP and GTO (Not with all cars but some), I hope we do get to see it someday in AMS2. The problem with liking this game so much is that you want to see all the cars you like in it :D.

Cheers mate! Although I have to point out that I have never. Ever. Uploaded a video to this site!

However, fair enough. I'm gunna change tact, do something mad, and link to someone else's video!

So when I get totally in the groove of the track in AMS2 (or any sim) and I'm zeroing in "brake to the Apex, throttle (carefully applied) on the exit, do I have to set it up for the next one, car goes where the eyes go, carry the speed it's the right time to coast! Find the flow, follow the grip, thread the needle, stop caring about laptime and concerntrate on the composition between the car the track and you, like a team, like a well oiled machine, like a band! Hit it whilst knowing when to hold back, take it easy, relax, concerntrate, lose yourself in the groove!...............

What I'm prattling on about is that it sometimes makes me feel like (oh and you can call me a soppy bugger,. Which I am! But that's the lyrics. Listen to the groove!),,, this!
