Ok... You've tempted me away from 70s Spa... Time to try Daytona and some multiclass...

At the moment, the AI has a tendency to either crash or shunt together in a queue at the start of Spa Historic. if you're on pole, you'd miss this.

You are right, AI with those cars are MUCH more competitive than driving rather modern open wheelers.

however after 3 or 4 restarts and being a little more cautious (starting at the back) they often get it sorted out and make it through without the big pile up. p.s. and that is using the lowest level of aggression.

Because of going side by side for ages, never stepping back, AI love to crash in the
third to last corner ( don't know the name it had back then, Blanchimont?) of Spa 70, the lefthander where you gotta be a bit careful on the throttle with older cars. With damage set to "on", player does not have many opponents left after a while. ;)

Oh my... 3 class racing at Daytona is not only possible but fun...

The AI thinks... A bit too much as when they catch a slower class on the banked oval they think about catching a draft and also lift a little before taking the outside line and passing other AI...

On average the pack of AI lost around 2 seconds more than me when passing through the midfield... and half a second to a second on the bank depending on where they caught them and if they were in my draft or not...

But that's a huge improvement to the last time I tried such a combination... P1, GT2 and GT4...

I was in the GT2 class and when the P1's came up there was a couple of hairy moments and I almost crashed into one in the 2nd hairpin because I got my braking wrong... It not only avoided me and backed out of an outside move it waited until the bank to get a clean run around the outside...

Short qualifying wasn't a crapshoot as each class was properly represented timewise... Overall a real joy...

Getting the bus stop wrong with low downforce at night... not so much fun... lol

The SPA 1970 layouts look awesome. I did a 24-hour cycle (6 laps with P2 Class and 60x acceleration, starting 1 hour after sunrise) to show the day/night transition on Aug 1, 2022. I set the AI on 75% and aggression to low. The objective was to show the beauty of the track and not do a race. The following should be noted:
    1. AI quite aggressive entering Eau Rouge from the outside
    2. AI tend to form groups and just sit two or three wide the whole race. Maybe the AI talent spread is not wide enough, or the fact that the gearing causes the revs to max out and you sit there at 7500 RPM full throttle from exiting the left hand corner at the end of the Kemmel "straight" till you get to the section where you join the new SPA again.

But, anyway, the point was to show the transition.

My favorite cars/classes to race at Spa 1970:
    • Opala Old Stock
    • Chevrolet Corvette C3-R
    • Porsche 911 RSR 74
    • Formula Vintage G1
    • Chevrolet Corvette C3
    • BMW 2002 Turbo
    • Lotus 23
    • Formula Vintage G2
    • Super V8
    • Street Supercars (all current and future models, probably)
    • Bonus: Copa Truck :p
(cars that actually raced there in real life are highlighted in bold)

What makes these great to drive at Spa 1970 is that they all have relatively low grip at high speed.
Unfortunately, half of them also have a gearing-limited top speed which makes racing against the AI very static on the straights. It would be really nice if Reiza could do something about that!

    Nice list:)
This is a blast on its own, inc wet, too fast for the 911 though sadly, at this track.
Pro car, C9, Bt44,79 Lotus all good. Too much fun in these to try others so far.

"Luckily", the C3-R and 911 RSR never raced against each other at Spa.
Two C3-R's raced in the 1972 Spa 1000km and one entered in 1973 but didn't start.
    The 911 RSR's competed in 1974 Spa 1000km and also 1975

The Corvette is too fast for the Porsche everywhere, even in tight circuits like Cadwell Park, shame really, makes that particular class a little boring to play offline.

True in short races, however the vette cooks its brakes in about 10 laps.

It's borderline undrivable because of brake fade. That may be realistic, but it's a shame because the car has gotten a lot better in every other area. For some reason the standard C3 is completely fine, but the C3R has absolutely useless brakes.

That’s a good list…but it’s missing the DTMs …. or maybe I’m just a nut for chucking those around any track.

Now if the crowds we’re animated I’d love to see them all diving for cover around the kink as those trucks came barrelling towards them…not even 60s spectators were that brave/daft, surely.:D

Engine braking is your friend for sure, but its very unique to drive and probably really realistic. $100,000 worth of engine with $100 set of brakes! Lol

Historic spa is absolutely terrifying in f-retro gen1 in vr, even scarier then historic monza with the banking

C3 R is a missile at old spa, always hits the rev limiter at 295kmh

Speaking of old Monza, will they add or have they added Monza Speedway? I know PC2 has it and would be fun to compare it to IMS
