I think 'chase-less' Bathurst was chosen because it's different enough from the modern track, to justify sale in a DLC, while also not requiring a huge effort of building a brand new track from scratch.
Not sure why '83 was chosen specifically. There might have been good reference points for that year as others have said, or perhaps there are era cars in the works for later.

I'd love t see some CAMS Group C cars in the game
Meantime, the Opala's will be great around there, as will the 60s and 70s TCs and GTs.

Well it's not just one corner that was different... And the 60s and 70s aren't really represented because much like the Dottinger Hohe and Fugplatz, Mountain straight and Conrod both had to be made safer over the decades...

I think an 80s version was chosen because of the ease of changing less of the track, as well as cutting off lots of areas from free roaming after a crash... Before the guardrails there's a lot of cliffs to go flying off of...

Completely with you on the group C cars...

Excellent call on the guardrails, which I think were introduced around that year across the top.
I wonder what they'll do at the exit to Forrest's Elbow where **** (Richard) Johnson famously went into the trees?

Further to this, here it is! Hopefully some useful info in there for anyome interested. I've heard some folks on the forum here saying they find the Nissan GTR a bit unruley on the back end coming out of low speed corners... If thats you skip to section 5:48 Setup, this is for you!

Also I've found that AMS2 seems to now be doing flatspots better than any other sim, if you wanna know what I mean listen to section 14:40 Tires & Flatspotting. Most of it may seem standard, but theres summit else that AMS2 seems to be doing that is more real than anything else! I could be wrong, but after much testing im sure this is whats going on!

I've not had time to time stampt the whole video but will update tomorrow. I love this car!!!!!!!!!!
    Here it is!

who cares for some bytes ;)
Maybe there are some internal pointers in the source code, which crash the game if this files are deleted.

Sometimes it takes more effort to delete unnecessary files so devs keep them in. Every single game that ever came out has that type of stuff.

Unrelated, and I'm not saying it means anything for future content but anyone else noticed a "mclaren_mp48" folder in the Livery Overrides folder now since this version? Just something that intrigued me while I was searching through to delete some mod skins, especially given that it's a very famous Brazilian Grand Prix car

Algarve is such an underrated circuit. The layout is fun, it's got some really unique corners. It's a shame the few F1 races there weren't classics. Maybe if the track surface was a little better it would have a better reputation.

The car was already first mentioned in the beta files on 25 October 2022.

Automobilista 2 Beta update for 25 October 2022

The launch of this car could be from anywhere this month to 2025.

Just some examples from the past:
Nissan GT-R GT3 was in the beta files 26 November 2021
Aston Martin Vantage GT3 was in the beta files 26 November 2021
McLaren Senna was in the beta files 15 April 2022
McLaren MP4/5b was in the beta files 19 April 2022

Most of these cars came out only at end of December 2022.

If the MP4/8 comes someday I wonder if we get some cars to go along with because the '93 season was technically quite different than any other as far as I remember (active suspension, traction control etc).

The car is available as official content for rF2 and it's quite something. It even comes with the gearbox set to automatic by default.
