Just a probably dumb question - but if you install skins for some clases does these skins disappear when a new official AMS2 update is downloaded?
I ask because I dont wanna have my AMS2 install cluttered up by installing custom skins - but on the other hand there is some of the custom skins I would like to have because they does look pretty fantastic.:)

No, your custom car liveries are NOT affected unless the devs do something radical like completely moving a car class as they did with the Formula Classic Gen 3 into Gen 4.

Thank you for the information, but unfortunatly that means a lot of work and trouble after every official update with the mods.... :(

I see a lot of people say this, but in reality, even if you have a lot of mods installed, it is literally 10 mins work, if that. Not ideal obviously, but it really isn't a big problem.

it really isn't that much work, but you need to make it easy for yourself, create seperate textfiles with the entries for the mods, then after an official update, disable the bootfiles, when there are new bootfiles available, copy those lines in the respective files, and activate the new bootfiles, this takes about 5 or 10 minutes, and considering we arent getting ams2 updates each month anymore, sometimes there is even more then 2 months between them, i think its totally worth it tbh

And the guy who made the GT3 mod has custom boot files with all the mods from him, PCMT and the Indycar added

Do you only need to deactivate the boot files or do you need to do the mods themselves also?
I noticed Thunderflash adds everything needed to his boodfiles, much quicker with his work even including PCMT changes.

Just the bootfiles need deactivating, but i do believe you need to deactivate them before updating ams2, i turned off auto updating for ams2 on steam just to be safe

    OK thanks.
But I think the difficulties in your example is OK.
Because such a radical change is close to changing the car to another car.

AfterThought: The reason for my question is because I dont want to reinstall custom skins after each update. Hehe eventhough updates is a bit seldom these days:p:p

So can these be used for convenience even if you do not have or want all the mods? Will it cause a problem if the text files contain entries with no corresponding folders and files in the MODS subdirectory?

If this work seamlessly, it should become the default way to work with mods. If it does not, then those bothered by the manual operations should just wait until a fully functional content manager comes out (which seems to be soon).

No problems even if you do not install all of the mods or tracks. Makes it super easy.

Seems all this mod talk has eased the fury and desperation for the updates :D. Reiza should hurry with the ease of modding support, so they can update the game every 4 months without causing a civil war here:p.

I guess a lot of Sim-racers are right now just more hyped about the 1.9 update for ACC.
