Yeah, people are using shorthand. There's no such thing as "The Ferrari License" or "The Lambo License" or "The Ford License" or whatever. Each car in the game (any game, not just AMS2) is licensed individually.

Of course, when ACC puts the McLaren GT3 Evo car into their game, it's presumably easier to do because the previous-gen car is already in the game and they licensed it from the same people. The license rules are probably the same, it's just the extra money they have to pay.

The myth of their being an overall manufacturer license probably comes from the Gran Turismo people who said, years ago, that there were cars in the then-current Gran Turismo that nobody wanted. But the license condition for a popular car from the same manufacturer was that if they wanted to include the popular car, they had to include the non-popular car also.

AMS2 is a very different kind of game than Gran Turismo, so I would bet that there's no cars in AMS2 that were forced on them by the manufacturer in order to get a more popular car. Also, the Forza people have said that they've never made that kind of a deal. They would, if that's what it took to get a more popular car, but nobody has ever made that a condition of a car they've licensed. My guess is that since the first GT game is 10 years older than the first Forza game, manufacturers haven't been making this demand for a long time.

i 100% believe that there are manufacturers, that will give their licenses for free. that are happy to be in games. its not the big guys of course, but Ginetta is one that makes you think they love to see their stuff in games - same goes for Lotus.

Kunos had something similar, it's why there's a few SUVs in Assetto Corsa. I believe certain Porsche and Alfa Romeo cars were more obtainable because they did things like the Stelvio SUV (bluergh) or... whatever the Porsche ones are. Macan?
