Where have I heard of this before?

 

What happens if I'm 5 laps down and plan to make my mandatory stop 3 laps from the end, but the race ends earlier because the winner is so much ahead? Do I get DQ'd? Haven't actually thought how this is handled in the real world.

 

I understand. Sorry if I wasn’t clear. Pit stops were all made mid race during the pit window. DQ’s occurred crossing the start/finish line after penultimate lap.

 

What exactly is this setting?

Is it, "Minimum number of stops that must include a tyre change" or "Minimum number of tyres that must be changed in a stop".

I just did a race with it set to 1, me and the AI all did one stop and no disqualifications. I read it as "I need to do one stop where I change tyres". So is setting it to 4 expecting you do 4 stops?

F-USA 23 at Indianapoilis super speedway resets gear ratios when you are at the pits. I don't know if it gets the non oval gear setup, or what. I had to reset to defaults and manually change final ratio before to go out from the pits every time.

This was in an online session, I didn't test if it's the same on an offline race.

I also can confirm what other people mentioned about the F-USA 23 tyres, you only get the red ones despite the dry compound selected in setup screen. I guess it's a visual bug. I spotted it in a Long Beach practice session (awesome combo btw).

 

Like Schumacher in 98 at Silverstone; finished the race in the pits.

 

This was a classic win from Michael Schumacher in Silverstone if I’m right. He served a penalty inside the pits on last lap due to a loophole on regulations. That happens when Ross Brawn is in your team pit wall. Rules were amended afterwards.

I didn’t even think of that. I read it as 4 tires being replaced in one pit stop. Can anyone confirm what the setting is for?

 

No, all instances were single races (and I did pit earlier than penultimate lap each time).

 

Did you save the setup you made after changing settings?

 

Just one point: Indianapolis isn't the fastest point at LM. The braking point for the first chicane on the Hunaudieres is. So these numbers for sure aren't the highest speed the car would see along the lap.

 

Think this way:
- In Stock Car Brasil there is a mandatory pitstop. However, you could change only 1 tyre during that mandatory pitstop if you wanted (don't need to change all 4). This is what most, if not all, teams do, as it is faster. In AMS2 the settings would be: Mandatory Pitstop yes | Min Tyres 1
- In modern F1 there is a mandatory pitstop in dry races (because of mandatory use of 2 different tyre compounds). However you need to change all 4 tyres of the car. In AMS2 the settings would be: Mandatory Pitstop yes | Min Tyres 4

Exactly what I took from it. And it appears you are correct by what @CrimsonEminence said. I was racing Formula Ultimate so had it set to 4 tires.
