when do you give us an opportunity to switch off the Headlights of cars behind in VR??? this is a serious issue even with RTX 4090!!! This Issue is not in Project Cars 2 or with Openwheeler without Headlights.

Gridiron football, the American game, has that name because the ball used to be 12 inches (one foot) long from tip to tip.

Association football, the game Americans call soccer, also doesn't get its name from the fact that there's a ball and you kick it. Instead, their game named for the fact that you play it on foot. (The comparison is to polo, which is played on horseback.)

Believe it or not if you look back in history it actually makes sense. The term Football (to modern historians best knowledge) came from any sport being played on foot instead of horseback.

Later on, a new ruleset was created which allowed the player to carry the ball. They called this Rugby Football, and called the original ruleset Association Football (which is where the word Soccer comes from, short-hand for the word Association). Football then came to the states with colleges playing matches against eachother, in 1876 however a set of rule changes made American Football have a similar ruleset to Rugby. The colleges decided to still keep the name "Football" (probably because an overhaul of the rulebook doesn't necessarily require a name change).

Then through the 1880s another set of rule changes lead to most of the basics of American Football being established such as the Snap , Line Of Scrimmage, 11 player teams, the lgalization of the forward pass, the idea of downs and the neutral zone. During this set of rule changes is when the American Football got its shape.

Now I understand there are many more questions and oddities about American Football and how those oddities came to be. But I'm just gonna stop myself here otherwise id be typing this all day, if you have any questions i highly recommend doing research on it! For me atleast it's just as fascinating as looking into the history of motorsports.

This is very imaginative - but not particularly factual. All the footballs, Australian, American, Canadian Association etc) can be traced back to forms of Rugby football - which although not played on horseback does involve occasionally kicking the ball with your foot. Nothing to do with the length of the ball.

    Hi all.
I posted a question in the VR sub-forum, but then I realized it also applies to monitors.
I noticed that reflections on track of tail lights or brake lights (more visible at night and wet track) are only rendered up to a certain distance, which seems a bit short to me.
Actually these reflections pop-up quite suddenly e.g. in T1 at Spielberg and are a bit weird.

Question: do you guys know if this is a matter of gfx settings, or maybe a engine LOD-related topic?
Do you have any clue if this rendering distance could be increased?

Note: so far I tried all gfx settings without success...

This video displays the 1979 layout, which I'm vouching for as the best layout available for the 70s decade. Compare it with this onboard from 1977, which is very much the same layout except Tertre Rouge:

And a 1968 onboard, which shows how it was until the major revamps of 1972:

Welp since everyone is focusing on classic LeMans, let me put the fastest lap ever on the modern circuit. Never get tired watching that car glued to the road.

Watching the Kobayashi lap record always blows my mind. He'll keep his lap record for at least 30 years imo, just like Stefan Bellof kept his on the Nordschleife with the 956. The video looks like it's on fast forward ^^
I agree, modern Le Mans is going to be soo good. I can't wait. Would love to see the Ford GT in the GTE class, it was so good in PC2. GTE racing in general at Le Mans was so much fun.

Trust me, from the physics updates in the beta, it'll be worth it. Some core content cars are feeling sharper than they've ever been.
