Do you use default FFB or custom?

    Everything great in my profile
But the high downforce cars only feel the bumps a tad to much

without having to adjust the fx slider back & forth each time is there setting in the custom profile that will sort it without losing/damping other effects ?

Sorry i forgot mentioning that. I tried default first but i sticked with default+ right now. Don`t know if its placebo or not, but i think it feels better.
I tried a "rfuktor" custom one but that felt absolutely weired to me

    nope, but will do.
As far i understood i have to choose the weakest option 2-5nM for my wheel.
Cool will test later today and give a feedback here. thx

You can choose whichever file, but I use the one optimised for my wheel torque

@Danielkart v80 file feels a bit strange for me. I use DD1 and all recomended settings in game and at the wheel, but for me lacks rear end info. And when rear wheels lose traction it is very difficult to catch the car. In the v70 file, it was better felt and easier to catch, the steering wheel itself reacted to the loss of grip in the wheel. Maybe i can tweek something abouth that? I think that if you somehow take the good features of v70 and v80, you will get a great file. Try to burn your rear tires and try to make a lap with v70 and v80 withouth a traction control and you will know what i am talking about. I only race GT3 cars.

Please note I'm assuming FFB is a strictly personal choice and the good old T300 is a bit "better" then my good old TX.

I set TM Control Panel at Default (see fig.).
Ingame Gain 75-80, LFB 0-10, FX 0-10, Damping 0 (see fig.).
Why Damping 0? Because Belt Driven Wheels have usually a lot of friction and don't need additional damping.
Why Ingame Gain 75-80? First to avoid clipping and then, according to a recent post from Karsten H. we must give some room to the extra forces to act (see some posts above).

Recent ingame FFB changes (Thanks Coanda!) are very good and Default or Default+ choice is at your taste. Note that not all vehicles have FFB fine tuned yet at b2323, take care to run tests using a v1.5 revised car (see Coanda's last report).

Using any Default or Custom is a matter of preference. I'm using Daniel's v80_8Nm but any v80 will be ok. If using Default+ I set LFB =0 and FX =0.

That's it. I'm not a specialist at all but a simple user.

PS: Remember to calibrate your wheel and verify if it's rotation is followed by the virtual wheel.

Thanks for sharing your settings. As you already said, some settings are stricktly personal. For me fe. spring @100 in TM in a no go.

Tried it a bit the 1.4 2-5nM Version. Feels not bad, but everything above gain50 gives me hard clipping. And thats definetly not like it should be i suppose

Got a chance to try out Danielkart’s V80 FFB custom file, and first off, it's definitely what I've been looking for. Feels just as I wanted it too, seriously amazing work on this. However, I noticed it's not just the feel that's improved for me, but also the car control itself. A problem I've always had is the feeling of cars being unstable and shifting around a lot on the tires which is quite different from what I expect in any sim, but this file completely removes that behavior and cars feel a lot more stable to drive. It's interesting to see how a FFB file can make such a difference, curious how it's possible.

Bad ffb will trick you into thinking the car is doing something when in fact it isn't, that's why.

The inner workings of these custom ffb files are very complex but, more detailed ffb-effects aside, the fundamentals are actually pretty basic at the wheel. Much of how we interpret car-handling through ffb has to do with timing and force of the self-aligning torque effect. If the timing is off, so is our sense of control.

So, would you say that timing is off on the Default and Default+ files? I'm very curious to know since this has been one of the most significant changes in AMS2's handling characteristics since I've been active in the sim.

No, not at all but, Damping will influence the wheel response (speed) with whatever profile is in use. If wheel response is too fast / increase Damping (AMS2 ffb). If wheel response is slow (feels like it's lagging behind) / decrease Damping.

Custom files may have adjusted damping levels so, they may require different Damping settings compared to default profiles.

Ah, I'll definitely be playing with this a bit more. AMS2's FFB has always been tough for me to dial in correctly, I'll definitely play with the dampening a bit more. The default profiles feel really jerky in the center and it whips the car around.

V1.3 of the custom FFB collection is posted (see post #6400 on p. 320). Moved all of Daniel's previous versions to the Z-Appendix earlier rFuktor versions folder, plus a few other earlier ones, and added TomP's G29 tune.

As we await the arrive of V1.5, consider the tremendous amount of community effort that went into all of these custom-FFB files during AMS2's first three formative years.

Hi, is there a DEFAULT/DEFAULT+ "Template" to start a custom FFb file ?

Not really, other than the basic rackforce file (Reiza's custom) that comes standard with the sim. The actual code for the Default & Default+ profiles that adds vibration, tire scrub, etc. components to the basic model is rather black box stuff at the moment.

Karsten & Co.'s rFuktor series seems to be the custom "template" of choice.

Since I was so impressed with the first '1.5 physics' cars since 1.4.8, I ventured down the FFB rabbit hole for the first time. I tried some custom files, like Karsten etc, but never really preferred them over Default to be honest. I read a little while ago in a post from @Theodore Schultz suggesting the Heavy Messing V2.5 file working nicely with the new physics. He suggested the Smooth variant, but you can try out all 3. That file did click instantly with me. And then the rabbit hole opened for me...

I've been working for about 2 weeks on my own adaptation of the file and matching base settings, extensively tested during the beta for the coming 1.5 update. I'm doing final testing and tweaking over the weekend now that all cars are getting their FFB finalized for release, preparing to share it here with you guys when the update drops.
