How is this file different from default or default + though.

I really have no knowledge in physics but just from a standpoint of what I feel I think this files provides me with a more suspension heavy feeling, I feel the small bumps and the larger bumps more clearly and it also feels like other effects are toned down, cant put my finger on what exactly but they sure did not help me. This is a lot clearer for me.

    • DEFAULT profile adds on top of this base steering torque: damping, friction, few sources of vibration with a small amount of chassis "seat of pants“ feedback (mainly yaw)
    • DEFAULT+ as per the name, this is the same as the above plus some drop-off from understeer as front tires reach a critical sliding point, and slightly more chassis feedback added to the mix from lateral & longitudinal acceleration for a feel of the car´s weight transfer as load shifts in different stages of a corner. Default+ also features drivetrain vibration / pulses while the vehicle is stationary or moving slowly which directly relates to the vehicle engine configuration ( whether a 2-stroke or 4-stroke engine, how many cylinders it has and at which architecture).
    • CUSTOM as shipped with the game is just barebones steering torque acting around steering (kingpin) axis. No road vibration feedback, no damping, no friction - this profile however is editable by a user via the ffb_custom_settings.txt file located in Documents/AMS2/. Please note this is NOT customizing any of the Default profiles above, but rather allowing users to write their own FFB script using LISP-like syntax.
The file is the custom file with all smoothing and dampening removed, giving a more pronounced feeling.

It would be interesting to hear the devs opinion on this, I've seen a lot of people rave about this file and even on Reddit its being talked about. I would like to know the reason they believe smoothing and dampening is necessary on the custom file.

Anyways, really happy I found this.

Also - the one that comes shipped with the game clips at 70% force. I do not know the clipping was removed.

    This is the line:
    mass_damper ( * M_smooth_samples 0.0))

    I have this at 0.2

I like this rack custom file so much, very smoothy and good feeling. The only thing that happens to me is in some curbs like the last Le Mans chicane, if my car wheel is over the curb, the yellow stripes or the red sausage I loose the ffb feeling for this moment and my wheel feels like "dead" also. Is someone else having this also? I have a Thrustmaster TS-PC Racer base.

I have a logitech 923 and looking to edit the shift effect FFB setting in a custom file. Which parameters would allow me to increase the FFB for a shift up and down effect?

Hi, any recommendations for Fanatec DD1, custom file or Default+ profile and wheelbase settings?

Yes - Use this, turn per car gain to about 50. :)

curiosity got the better of me , and i tried out this cut down file and think it’s got some really good steering rack feel, and felt intuitive ( it doesn’t feel that far removes from what i have with my custom) , but it needs to be offset with some control of wheel speed and in software filters on my DD, it’s great until you get into oversteer or out of control situations , as the wheel returns far to quickly and with unlimited power.

i found myself immediately looking to add damping and or friction in software and trying to lower wheel speed to try and contain the forces as they have the potential to snap thumbs .

Damping is generally a mechanism for adding resistance to forces , giving them something to work or push against , I don’t believe that the damper reiza uses masks and details in my experience. nothing that can’t be restored by increasing other fx etc. but the speed of the wheel is more realistic with damping ,and safer which is something they have to be mindful of im sure.

So i think there’s some potential for some using weaker wheels base or naturally damped belt wheels etc to get great feedback from this file choice , but needs to come with a public safety message.
if i didn’t already have my own custom tuned rfuktor file i would probably use this as a base to configure my wheel base too with some time spent on filters.

Thank you, you mean 50 in individual ffb car settings for every car? Can you please give me the settings for the wheelbase?

Set gain to 100, then in controls set an FFB Gain + and - key, use the - key to set it to 50.

FFB is a very personal thing, everyone likes different things.
But I'm very happy with Maurice from Fanatec's profiles combined with a custom FFB file.

Link to profile download (you might need an account on the Fanatec forums):
    https://forum.fanatec.com/uploads/722/4X1Y9RYY3UKI.zip

The .zip file contains a custom FFB file, but I prefer to use Kuku's latest:

Thank you, i will try it. Actually i do like a lot the default+ profile but when i put the FFB gain to about 10Nm whatever i tried including dampening in game and on fanatec driver side in high speeds over 130 - 140km i have major oscillations if i take of my hands of the wheel

I believe this is not the best way to do it.
We set the GAIN so most cars stay at around 100% vehicle-specific FFB, then we fine tune adjust the later not to clip (too much).
Both setting are just multiplier unless it's a custom file that uses GAIN to do other things other than gain itself.

    Am gutted mate!

I've always used your files, without them I wouldn't still be playing this game and Reiza wouldn't have got more money out of me for their DLC's! It's sad that you'll no longer be updating your FFB files but understand people move on.

Thank you sincerely to help me enjoy this game more than I ever thought I could.

If you ever think about posting a Eureka file that you create please don't have second thoughts and post the damn thing :).

    Thank you, glhf.

(now I hope Reiza fixes the VR stuttering introduced on the latest update in some HMD's)

Some custom files cause a lot of oscillations, while others don’t. I have given up trying to get rid of it. If I like a file, and it causes oscillations, I just keep my hands on the wheel :)

In theory, would it be possible to add some brake feel to the file?

i felt like there was a little brake feel naturally but need to test some more. Only managed to test a couple of different cars , they kinda felt the same as each other outside of overall strength. so need to see if it offers the same level of variety in feel between different cars .

tried the rack force custom, feels incredible! very communicative. tried gt3, formula and lmdh cars. would love to see wheel speed dampened a bit when losing the car, has a pretty savage snap back. i made the change @Xzanman suggested to help with grainyness but also had to add some interplolation filter on the wb. i reckon a couple of tweaks on this and it is the holy grail custom
