On my TS-PC, it didn't matter - Thrustmaster drivers must use those slider for legacy game, the time the game asked the wheel to do a static force of x or vibrate at y frequency for z period of time.
Will Cammus be the same? I don't know but testing is a good advise.

Well, I must say I had the same first impression ;)

This explains everything what people have issues with regarding AMS 2 "physics"

Hi all, I like Default+ FFB
only problem is that I do not "feel" the curbs effect, as if they are not there.
Which parameter should I change in the FFB to hear them more ?
    I use CSW 2.5

Is this V2 or how should I call this file when I add it?

Hi, if turning fx up doesn't help, try turning fei (force effect intensity) up on your base.

After trying this file in several cars, I agree that it is the most natural and informative FFB that I have experienced in AMS2.

I come from a mostly Rfactor and Rfactor2 background and with this file everything thing makes sense.

I did add a small amount of smoothing (0.2) just to get rid of the grainy feel that I was getting in my wheel with some cars.

I recommend that everyone at least tries this and gives it a good amount of time, once used every other FFB just feels unnatural and cloudy. This would be especially usefull for anyone new to sim racing. It allows you to feel exactly what the car is doing.

    What wheelbase do you run?

    Hello

I am at work so will let you know tonight

I always use some damping in Game but I will share precise numbers

ps with such a name, are you French by any chance?

After sorting the gain out. (50% feels absolutely fine on every car i've tried) I'm actually fairly sure this is how rF2's FFB is calculated. You have the weird grain without smoothing and the kerbs will happily tear your arms off.

So yeah, it's still the default custom ffb, all i've done is fixed the needless smoothing and mass damping that come with it.

Is there a way of tagging a developer because if anything this is a bugfix?

Yeah its so natural, I tried several custom ffbs here and I just scratch my head on what the hell is going on, I really think less is more when talking ffb.

Exactly where did you add that smoothing? And do you think its enough? I also feel some graining on long corners.

I can't remember the exact line it's the first one. I will post the exact line later when I get the chance.

I think that its not a bug but intentional. I think the smoothing and dampening is there to replicate more closely what is felt in a real cars steering. Without it we are feeling an amplified effect. I think it works well for sim racing because we are lacking the feel of other forces from other parts of the car.

Using the rack forces is what Rfactor2 does but other effects are added such as braking. AMS2 default and default + also use it but with other effects added and with smoothing and dampening added.

I would like to be able to try default and default + with the smoothing and dampening removed in the same way that you removed it from the default custom file.

How is this file different from default or default + though.

I really have no knowledge in physics but just from a standpoint of what I feel I think this files provides me with a more suspension heavy feeling, I feel the small bumps and the larger bumps more clearly and it also feels like other effects are toned down, cant put my finger on what exactly but they sure did not help me. This is a lot clearer for me.

    • DEFAULT profile adds on top of this base steering torque: damping, friction, few sources of vibration with a small amount of chassis "seat of pants“ feedback (mainly yaw)
    • DEFAULT+ as per the name, this is the same as the above plus some drop-off from understeer as front tires reach a critical sliding point, and slightly more chassis feedback added to the mix from lateral & longitudinal acceleration for a feel of the car´s weight transfer as load shifts in different stages of a corner. Default+ also features drivetrain vibration / pulses while the vehicle is stationary or moving slowly which directly relates to the vehicle engine configuration ( whether a 2-stroke or 4-stroke engine, how many cylinders it has and at which architecture).
    • CUSTOM as shipped with the game is just barebones steering torque acting around steering (kingpin) axis. No road vibration feedback, no damping, no friction - this profile however is editable by a user via the ffb_custom_settings.txt file located in Documents/AMS2/. Please note this is NOT customizing any of the Default profiles above, but rather allowing users to write their own FFB script using LISP-like syntax.
The file is the custom file with all smoothing and dampening removed, giving a more pronounced feeling.

It would be interesting to hear the devs opinion on this, I've seen a lot of people rave about this file and even on Reddit its being talked about. I would like to know the reason they believe smoothing and dampening is necessary on the custom file.

Anyways, really happy I found this.

Also - the one that comes shipped with the game clips at 70% force. I do not know the clipping was removed.

    This is the line:
    mass_damper ( * M_smooth_samples 0.0))

    I have this at 0.2

I like this rack custom file so much, very smoothy and good feeling. The only thing that happens to me is in some curbs like the last Le Mans chicane, if my car wheel is over the curb, the yellow stripes or the red sausage I loose the ffb feeling for this moment and my wheel feels like "dead" also. Is someone else having this also? I have a Thrustmaster TS-PC Racer base.
