Automobilista 2 March 2024 Development Update

I haven't participated in the forum for a while, but after this announcement I took the opportunity to grab some DLCs that were missing from the discount and honestly I would like to leave some suggestions:

1- Graphical updates are welcome but I hope they don't harm performance on more modest PCs like my good old I5 8gb and amd RX470, today I run at a very satisfactory graphics level at 60 fps, may it remain that way!

2- Great news about the partnership with IMSA! But taking advantage of the fact that this last weekend the Formula-e stage took place here in Brazil in São Paulo, it would be interesting to have an F-E Reiza to complete the picture of all the main world categories in the simulator, we already have touring cars, oval races, dirt.. an electrical representative is missing!

Some people have bad feelings about electric cars, but the fact is that they provide very interesting races and considering that the A.I. in Rfactor 2 it's a mess, it would be great to have this category in AMS 2!

I watched my first FE race in a long while on Saturday and I have to say it was a lot better than what I remembered from previous races. The final laps were huge fun to watch. Certainly more exciting than watching Verstappen on his usual Sunday drive to the first step of the podium.

And the final hour of Sebring was also fantastic.

 

Verstappen made F1 exciting for a few years, and now he’s killing it. Red Bull desperately needs a shiny new Alpine engine, it comes with free cheese… Alpine != Renault, I promise, do it now!

Did I already tell that I love AMS2 because it is more SP based and does a wonderful job on the AI. And it is build on the beloved (IMO) Madness engine. My first love on simracing.

While AI has improved a lot in the last months it is still far from something i would consider worth racing against because they still lack some important things:
- blocking someone who is approaching them on the straight by just switching lanes and also switching lanes on a straight in order to try breaking the tow
- defending the inside of any corner from the car behind that is approaching
- actually drive side-by-side with each other in a corner and not immediately drop back only overtaking each other on straights

 

For those who want the M.P. side of AMS2 to improve, why not help out the devs.

The two guys in front are battling quite realistically to me. Side by side at t1 and t5... Without overdoing.
Ai 100, medium aggression.
I agree they do not change lane to brake the tow though.... And the defending the inside is not very prominent...

 

Agreed. Two or three rotating events one every hour, maybe even with fixed setups like LMU beginners races could certainly go a long way in focusing the users. Grids could be limited to a reasonable 15 spots to enhance reliability, standing start and hope for no desync until the issue is fixed.

 

There is always room for improvement of course. But the point is, I have a great time with the AI. I don’t care what others think of the AI. All that matters is that I have a great time with AMS.
For me it is the sim go for as a SP guy. AMS2 and still Pcars 2 as well.

 

AI has many advantages for me. I am absolutely not tied to time, I can decide for myself when I want to drive, where I want to drive and what I want to drive with. Not making any commitments and deciding for myself is more important to me. Additionally, I have absolutely no desire to get upset with people or have endless discussions after a race. That's why I welcome any improvement in the AI and is personally more important to me than the MP

 

Mate, you are underrating yourself. I know you as a competetive and fair driver, so why would someone get upset ....more Drivers like you are unfortunately missing in free online Lobbies, at the moment

No mention of getting to grips with Multiplayer bugs

Did you write to the incorrect person ? Because i wrote no mention about multiplayer at all and was previously talking why i have interest mainly in single player racing, and also that the AI is still not in the place where it should be for quality racing.
I even wrote the same stuff you wrote now to me, multiple times even.

 

You can help with that by taking part in the MP tests if you can make it on some Tuesdays and Thursdays at 18-21 UTC. They're currently looking for 15 regulars for the test sessions to get a better baseline player count, but the tests are always open for Paddock Club members.
