I recently bought a VRS DFP DD Wheel motor and an HRS GT8 USB wheel, and have tweaked it for all SIM's except for AMS2. Going to start on it today and see how it goes with a Custom FFB file. In initially I had no issues getting the wheel recognized.

Quick question, what does this have to do with custom ffb?

Peter is a long time custom user, tweaker and modder.
It’s a big upgrade for him and I’m sure I’m not the only one that is happy for him .

I know who he is and what he does. I’m just thinking that rig upgrades maybe shouldn’t be posted in the custom ffb chat. That’s just my take
Edit: @Kuku to each their own

I'm happy for you Peter. A Mige engine is a lot of fun and takes every simulation to a higher level. Simucube, VRS, Assetek are all great bases with this engine;)

RIG/Wheel/DD motor update requires a re-visit to whatever FFB file you're using. In my case I'm using the Custom file by Karsten v5103. It only took a couple of hours to get it tweaked up the way I like it. I'll give my file to ricxx when I get it fully tweaked up for the VRS DFP DD MiGe motor.

I think you mean a Logitech base? I think there are people who have their own threads for Logitech in this forum. I can't help you much, I just know that "Trueforce" is not yet or only partially supported by Ams2

I did some more testing today and I found the trouble maker: Ingame in the FFB options you can setup the "Menu Spring Strengh". This value was on 2 - If I change it to 0, I don't have the oscillation anymore (using you latest, awesome custom FFB file and your recommended base and ingame settings).
    Nice!

That's weird, that setting isn't supposed to effect anything in-game .

You are totally right, I'm sorry, my bad.
The difference in settings was the car specific force feedback. At 100%, I get the oscillation, at 50% I don't get it. Maybe there is a sweetspot somewhere in between.

There are several factors that can increase commuting.

    1. In-Game Gain (too high)
    2. In-Game FX (too high)
    3. In-game damping (better left at 0)
    4. Steering angle too low (set 900 or 1080 degrees in the base)
    5. Steering angle setting in the game (the higher it is set, the more vibrations can occur) but is not a problem if you set the base to 900 or 1080.
    6.Increase vehicle-specific FFB above 100%
    7. Processing your base
    8. The wheel you are using (light, small wheels swing more) can be corrected with "Inertia" or damping in the base settings

You see there are many factors that influence it;)

Hi all, here's my tuned for me version of @Danielkart V900.
    It's a bit lively.
    Gain 60-65
    Fx 20-25

Sorry for not necessarily understanding how Danielkart's file works but how can a single text file be optimized for all these bases simultaneously? I was expecting unique text file values for each base and un-comment those settings for my particular base.

I understand that unique outside of game and inside of game settings are provided in the text file but it seems the actual settings in the file are common for all bases.

I assume his files act like a version of the base game FFB, it needs different settings for everyone, but works for everyone

Yeah, but I don't know if I would call that "optimized" when a common text file settings "works for everyone."

Hasn't Daniel already knocked out roughly 99% of the task with the file provided? Not even Reiza provides recommended FFB settings for every available wheelbase.

Well, if common settings gets everyone 99% of the way there, then I would say it is effectively optimized. It wouldn't be worth that final 1%, unless that I need that 1% to beat you, John. ;)

t's not as easy as you think.Just changing a few lines to make it work for everyone is not possible. You have to understand the whole connection with the physics of Reiza, the FFB options (Basic/Defaults/Custom) and the various bases (dynamic range, forces, slew rates and and...) and your available hardware. There is no perfect FFB, not from me, not from anyone else and not from Reiza. There is only one perfect FFB for each individual - tastes and preferences are very different. But I can try to explain to you why I can recommend the file for all bases.

I've been working with customs files for a long time and anyone who has followed it a little knows that I use Karsten Hvidberg's files for this.At the beginning I also posted a file for the base I was using at the time (Fanatec dd1) and it was tailored to it.Over time I thought about writing this file for other people with different bases. The powers were the crucial difference. That's why I wrote different customs for different power areas.Well, of course that was very time-consuming and over time I no longer enjoyed it.

Now my Simucube2 Pro came along and I had the idea that I wanted to make as few settings as possible on the base and integrate it directly into the custom file.In addition, I wanted to customize it as best as possible with the IN-Game settings of the game (Gain/LFB/FX/Damping) so that it is easily customizable with the file and still harmonizes well together. That was with the files V300 to V500.

And recently a Moza R21 base was added, which gave me new impressions and experiences. Many settings of a base are basically the same but they are not always named the same. That's why I give these recommendations for different bases but I also point out that these recommendations are tailored to my files and it will not automatically work for other files. These are just starting points from my experiences but of course you can also use your own settings.Maybe this explanation will help you a little.Ams2 has the option that you can choose (Basic/Defaults/Customs) and adapt it to your taste. This is great and is not offered by any other simulation in development.Use these opportunities

LOL, based on my former results in iRacing, no need to bother extracting an extra 1% to keep me in your mirrors. Regardless, I can appreciate the desire to extract the maximum degree of fidelity from AMS2, and optimizing the FFB experience is an integral part of that objective.
