I've partially blanked on what was promised in Part 1. Sometimes I catch myself thinking all that stuff is already in the sim, cause of how long we've been talking about it... ;)

With so much changing all the time, i would not be surprised if the dev update was september/obtober and the update end of the year. Just like the last 2 DLCs we got

Could be, but in that case I would be expecting a notice from Reiza claiming "...just a few more days folks... "

The joke going around is that Reiza said that 2024 is the year they'd focus on endurance content, so maybe that's the reason we have to endure the waiting for the development update and game update. :)

I'm a bit more optimistic, and think we'll get part 2 of the dev update before end of this month, and it will be posted shortly before 1.6 drops.

I agree with the last part, but I’m skeptic over the first part

I can't help but think that Reiza is trying to bring too many things at once with the 1.6 update. We're talking about physics, AI, interface, cars, tracks, graphical overhaul, new features, possibly LFM integration, new licenses, and who knows what else... that's a lot of stuff! It almost looks like a 2.0 release xD.

Don't get me wrong, I'm really excited to experience all of this, but when I see how Studio 397 struggles just to make an interface work in LMU, I think that if nothing is broken at the release of 1.6, then Reiza's developers are either geniuses... or the update will be available in November. Wouldn't it have been simpler to split the new features and content into two updates?

Have faith. We beta testers are finding a lot of these bugs and issues and Reiza are fixing them. Just because others can’t doesn’t mean Reiza can’t

I'm pretty sure Reiza knows better how to handle it. There's a lot of connected pieces and it doubles up work to get them all done in stages.

For example (not something we have in beta btw) the UI for multiplayer needs to be released with multiplayer changes, but if split then UI needs to be changed twice (first to move existing functions, second for new features). So first UI migration is a waste of time for the sake of releasing it earlier.

    Now it's half past two
    Long gone the rendezvous
    Now it's half past three
Time made a foul out of me
    Now it's half past four
    Oh baby can't you see
No use in waiting no more
    It's a timing tragedy
    I think it's nine
    When clock says ten
    This girl wouldn't wait
    For the out of time
    Out of time man

I think it's a huge advantage for Reiza to have a private Beta with dedicated testers. It's clear that most games with a public test server or private Betas progress way better than those that choose to do without them. I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank all the testers working on the Beta. Sometimes I envy you for getting to enjoy all of this in advance, but I'm content with waiting to experience the next update in its final version.

As a software dev I think the closer as a developer can approach the end consumer the better.
No one knows the demand and wishes better than the consumer itself.
