Would you say it is worth it (F1 24)? I really really like the F1 Ultimate Gen 2 cars, and with the proper 2024 skin pack it honestly feels extremely immersive for F1. Is the (I assume massive) decrease in driving quality in F1 24 worth the immersion of the real drivers, all the circuits, etc.?

 

For £26 (bundle deal as I already had 23) then yes, full price no, as it's very similar to F1 23. I do prefer the slightly more direct pointy handling of the cars though and they got rid of that nasty acid yellow UI. I've had them all since F1 2008, so I tend to buy it each year when the price hits £20-something. If you've never bought an F1 game, F1 24 is the best F1 game ever made. If you've got the collection, it's best to see it as a DLC upgrade to this season's content. There's still nine races to go this year on many tracks that aren't in many other games, so I'm happy with it for the price. Just don't expect the driving to be quite as good as AMS2, but everything else in the game is very well done.

I've always enjoyed the management aspect of the F1 games, but the driving model will feel like a huge step back after AMS2.

I've actually been rewatching the How To Train Your Dragon trilogy with my girlfriend this past week, I'm perfectly okay with this, seems like a ton of fun

Yeah the Oreca 07 has been confirmed in one of the screenshots. Let's just hope that their speed comparison to GTP is accurate.

 

Did someone say...... F5!?!

 

Last night I tried for the first time the Stock 24 Corolla at Laguna Seca, a circuit I really don't know deeply.

On AC I can keep the pace with the AI maxed out on a MX-5. I was curious to try the STOCK 24 there, of course I'm talking about AMS2 now.

What a great experience. It is so hard, so demanding but so rewarding.
I kept losing the control of the car during races starting last. I lowered the AI from my usual 100 to 95 but I still kept spinning by surprise.
Setting up a practice with the AI didn't help. I just had to forget about pace and focus on the car limits, then I realised that I had to focus on my own limits as driver. Such a humbling experience.
It made me go back to Suellio Almeida's book that I bought s few months ago. Great book. I'm taking notes and applying what I learning on that car.
The Stock 24 will slap on your face, hard, if you overdrive it. I feel I'm playing the Dark Souls of Sim racing.

This is my highlight of 2024 in simracing.

The only problem is that it has spoilt the rest of the game for me. With the other cars it's like I'm fighting against the game engine. Like when you are typing on the phone and autocorrect keeps bothering you. The more I drive the Stock 24 the less I like the other cars.

 

That's what I call having fun on a sim.
I can also have fun on Mario Kart. It's a very nice game.

 

It's like comparing apples and oranges, Both great games in different ways.

 

I'm with you - my go-to of the two is the FUG2, and the way it rewards smooth careful driving with speed is just so immersive. It makes watching F1 bizarrely more fun because it's like I can join in too! Not long now until it's all the cars (new and old)!!

Well, as we wait for the next update we just chat about AMS 2 and sometimes cheese as well, why not?

 

Manchego is my favourite. Being Spanish I guess I am biased. But I quite like Extra mature cheddar.
Parmesan is lovely too but quite expensive. I love Roquefort and Stilton.
