Nobody is asking you to update your trusty old hardware. Just lower the graphical options if in some moment you are no confortable with the perfomance. In the end it will be what the developers want it to be.

It's an understandable frustration if you can't afford to update - but also inevitable that you'll increasingly struggle with this over time.
Can I suggest Live For Speed if you're on outdated hardware?
It's an awesome sim and will run well on 10 year old hardware.

AMS2 can run my pc easily but ACC is terrible for my CPU on low settings and even RF2 with the BTCC DLC stutters sometimes. My graphics card is an AMD RX6000 8GB and even after the last update on Raceroom I can keep it on high settings without any performance issues. I don't care that much about graphics but a poorly optimized ACC on low settings and even then stuttering, not my thing so thanks Reiza for the great work you are doing with AMS2.

You don't need two kidneys, you need one kidney and one 4090 GPU.

Doctor: "Your sole kidney is failing, where did the other one go?" ... "RTX 4090"

    *Doctor understandingly nods head*

"Would you like to sign a certificate of donation for the 4090?"

In 1986 during the Group C 1000 km race, a tree fell across the track and the organizers had to stop the race.

"Memorable, too, because no-one could remember any previous occasion when a World Championship motor race was stopped by a fallen tree. The afternoon was clear, quite warm, but a gentle breeze became a gale-force wind at four o’clock in the afternoon, and the tall poplar trees in the park were swaying spectacularly. Mike Wilds, in the new Ecosse C2 car, had a branch fall in front of him, then Paolo Barilla stopped his Joest Porsche at the pits with the headlights knocked out — again by a falling branch. A few minutes later the whole tree fell down and the track went quiet. In the pits there was tension . . . there always is when you know something has happened, and you don’t know what . . . then laughter when one of the drivers got on the radio to say that the circuit was blocked by a tree. Fortunately it hadn’t fallen on any spectators, or cars, and Jonathan Palmer who was first along had plenty of time to stop."

I think it would be hilarious if they locked the thread and did the Dev Update part 2 when we get to page 199 ;)

If they promise that, we can arrange that page 199 in less than 30 minutes I believe.

Looks like someone hasn't heard of Unity yet. :p

Not saying that the UE runs great per se, but I've seen my fair share of games that had great visuals using the Unreal Engine and still performed incredibly well on my machine at 4K, whereas others using the same engine were badly optimized and set up by default to be super inefficient and struggle at anything past maybe 1440p and low settings, out of the box at least.

The same could be said about Unity to some degree to be fair, although in my experience even the best-optimized Unity games run significantly worse and don't look nearly as good as a well-optimized UE game; at least on my computer, that is.

Guys, a new thought came to my mind. If we get to page 200 as soon as possible, then Renato will have no choice but to create a new topic "Part 2" so that we can write there. Everything is ingenious and simple, we have to speed up...:D:p

I think the current tech requirements drama in the thread is just that, drama. We all get too comfy in our comfort zone. Wealthy folk comfort zone is super eye candy graphics. Poor folk comfort zone is running the game on a PC with the processing power of a kettle.
Sometimes it is good to leave our comfort zone. Or being forced to leave it like in my case

Very recently something happened at home that is forcing me to put my rig away and leave it in the garage for a while. Maybe months.
Here I am disassembling my baby, I guess Ill have to use my Cammus C5 on my desk, with the T-LCM lightest springs to use it on the floor. I had to tell you about this because somehow it makes it easier for me.

Dealing with life is what makes us great.

When Kireth on youtube post videos of ACC my jaw drops, it looks absolutely stunning maxed out. I could live with that quality for the rest of my life. But it looks like with UE4 (and I guess 5) whenever you start taking compromises it turns very quickly into a blurry mess. And same with DLSS, nice in the fps figures but really it turns into a blur fest.

There is a good reason why Kunos is now turning its back on the Unreal Engine after years of experience with it. Without very good reasons, this step would not be taken. I'm glad that AC Evo is no longer being realized with UE, because I couldn't do anything with the UE graphics either, even with high graphics settings I didn't like the typical UE blurriness.
