    That should do nicely.
I would try it on default for now until you get used to it and figure out how it all works before digging into things like 'opencomposite" and oculus debug tool. If you are not satisfied then you can try tinkering. I just use default tools like the debug tool. I don't mess with any of that extra stuff. I have Quest 3 8700k 6900xt and link cable, so you should be better off then me and i'm happy mostly.

    EDIT.
Yeah bitrate and ASW are the only things i usually mess with but its quite simple as mentioned

I have left the quest 3 settings as recommended. I disable the ASW in debug tool.
What is best bitrate to try?
does anyone have a screenshot of debug tool settings for quest 3 with link cable.

    thanks in advance

Here's mine. (First time uploading here. Hopefully, it works!)

    Nope. I can't upload a photo. Sorry.

i tried too didnt work , i set mine too 500 if i go above i sometimes get stutter, and i dont see a great deal of difference anyway
One thing is you have to disable encode dynamic bitrate

There you go, I set my bitrate to 700 because the encoder on my card starts to struggle above that. You should be able to set yours to 900 but if you start to see errors you can lower it. The text field will only let you type in values up to 500 but, you can copy and paste in values above that.

I think "Encode Resolution Width" can go up to 4090ish it should actually be a higher value for the headset just meta have not made a change to the upper value for the Q3. No big deal.

You can play around with distortion curve if you like, low will evenly distribute pixels across the image where as high will make the image sharper toward the center. I just leave it on default.

"Link Sharpening" set to quality as it makes use of the Snapdragon super resolution feature of the xr2 gen2 chip on the headset.

And if you're struggling for a few fps at a given resolution and/or ingame settings you can play around with FOV Tangent-Multiplier. It will cull the FOV so you get the same pixel density without stretching the image to fit the screens. Small changes like setting it to 0.9;0.8 will give you a small bump in fps while being barely noticeable.

Brilliant. Thanks a million. I will try this out tomorrow when I have more time for tinkering.
Do you have an nvidia card because I was wondering if it’s worth my while using the Nvidia control panel.
Thanks once again I really appreciate your help

Did exact same settings, the last one which was a Game Changer was Link Sharpening. After that the quality of the picture was really good!

what I also use for more stable fps is VRPerfkit_RSF and Fixed Foveated Rendering. Picture is same good quality for me but the load on my hardware is much less.

Have you got HAGS turned on? AMS2 doesn't always like HAGS, try turning it off rebooting and then fire up AMS2. Turning HAGS off does impact what settings you can use on some games though, for example in DCS World with HAGS off I can't select DLSS on my Nvidia card so if turning it off works for you on AMS2 just remember that you might need to turn it back on for other games.

really struggling with vr here. Got my graphics to where I kind of want them with a couple of compromises. With my set up (specs in my signature) I am really struggling to get this stutter free. None of my in game settings I think are too high (none on ultra and most on mid to high) and I have tried many different values in the debug tool bitrate section

I honestly feel I has this game smoother with the rift s. A strange thing I have noticed when tinkering with bitrate values are the following….. testing with McLaren 720 gen 1 at Jerez it starts off fairly smooth for about 3 quarters of 1st lap then it gets progressively worse over next couple of laps

with my specs (below) I think I should expect better than what I have

I think what I really need is to find out which of the 3 choices and what settings should I use in Nvidia control panel

again any help is much appreciated

    thanks in advance

My stuttering issues went away when I unparked all my cores using ParkControl.

ParkControl – Tweak CPU Core Parking and More

I have a separate PC for everyday use, so unparking the cores on my gaming PC opened the full potential of my processor.

With your system things should be pretty much butter smooth and you should be able to crank essentially everything.

First you should test the speed of the USB connection. You can do that in Meta's app. See image below. You should be getting a connection speed of around about or upwards of 2.5Gbps If not you need to double check what kind of USB port you're using.

While your there make sure your resolution and refresh rate are set to 90hz 5408 x 2912. I've highlighted this as well.

Then connect to your computer from the headset.

Open the Debug Tool window and set your settings to following.

One thing to remember about the debug tool is that it will forget settings so you'll need to go through this step each time you connect to the PC.

    Quest_Setup_2.png

The bitrate is not something you need to fiddle with. If your cables connection is operating at the appropriate speeds you can forget about that for the moment.

Open steam and run the game.

You should be able to run most settings at high if not ultra (obviously nighttime is a different story) start with MSAA set to medium which is 4x I believe and see how you go from there.

Keep an eye on the performance monitor to get a sense of what's happening with your frametimes and if possible use some kind of tool to see what your GPU utilization looks like while you're on track. Throw a challenging scenario at it like early morning, full grid @ Spa

Also double check that your power plan is set to high performance, however the link app seems to enable this by default.

Let me know how you get on. Main thing is you need to actually monitor performance to understand what is happening. My guess is under utilization rather than being lack or resources.

I’ve got a 5800x3d and a 4080 Super, my Quest 3 is set at 90hz and the resolution slider in the Meta app all the way to the right. During daylight conditions/rain (using cars that don’t have headlights) that’ll run a full grid with all the AMS2 settings set to max.

The things that have caused me stuttering in the past with AMS 2 have been HAGS turned on (Hardware Accelerated GPU scheduling) in Windows ( I turn it off for AMS2]. This can impact settings in other games but it’s easy to turn off and on but you’ll need to reboot. Also an issue with device management see this video
. If you read the comments on the video some people are a bit wary of doing this but the counter argument is modern hardware its a non issue. Ive had it like this for months with no issues.

I think I’ve done another one I’ve done that associated with the USB bus but can’t find that right now.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks again…..when I check my connection speed on USB I get 2.4.

you say connect to the computer from the headset, I normally open steam and connect to game from steam and open with oculus vr.

when you say make sure your power plan is set to high performance? Where about?

thanks again everyone for helping me here lol. I’m not good with technology

2.4 is fine so don't worry about that.

You checked its set to the correct the resolution and refresh rate I mentioned as well yea?

To open Quest link from the headset...
    1. Put on your headset, then press [IMG] / [IMG] on your right Touch controller to pull up your universal menu.

Thanks a lot. I see what you’re doing here. I will need to pin the meta quest, the debug tool and steam to my taskbar.
I will figure out how to get your pc desktop on to headset and go from there

Thanks again much appreciated. I will post updates tomorrow lol

Yeah it just makes it a little easier to do stuff on the desktop, change settings, launch apps etc. Rather than going back and forth, headset on, headset off. Does my head in.

All good, will get it sorted eventually. Best to verify the basics before trying anything else.

VR performance in the daytime is great, but drops significantly in the dark, prob due to headlights. Are there any plans to improve the night time performance? It kind of ruins the ability for me to do 24 Le Mans stuff.
Also are there any plans to utilise dynamic foveated rendering for eye-tracking headsets as ACC has done?

So I was really happy last night with the vr….I followed your settings and it was a lot better than previously (pretty smooth and really enjoyable)….however tonight it wasn’t so great with the same settings it was a bit stutter but when I done the usb test I was down to 1.9mbps. Would this affect my gameplay?

Please note my connection to laptop from my internet is wireless…..would a wired connection improve the performance. I appreciate the quest is only connecting to the laptop

    Thanks again
