On the contrary, I didn’t like VR, I bought Quest 3 especially for AMS 2, I thought it would be wow, but in the end it’s nothing special, it doesn’t even closely resemble reality. Plus it always feels hot in the forehead area, over time it gives you a headache, and in general you can’t do long races in it. In general, VR turned out to be a complete disappointment for me, I tried other games, but never played more than 10-15 hours. And when I returned to the wide monitor, I immediately felt pleasure.

Some love it, some hate it. Again, it's personal taste and whether you can tolerate it because of motion sickness. I use both, about 80% monitor and 20% VR. But the fact is that the immersion in VR is many times greater than on the monitor

Damn i also bought the quest 3 beacause everyone was saying AMS 2 + vr is Magic but nothing special

It was like playing with a PS2 game less fluid than a screen and not able to do long distance due to the strap on the head

Nothing to do with AMS 2

Rally is perfect for VR, as you do shorter stints with the headset on, and (IMHO) the realism is well beyond what you experience in road racing sims. It can be downright terrifying at times. That's mainly what I use my Q3 for now, as well as with flight simulators.

The thing with VR is the more PC power the better it gets. If you are having to dial all the settings down to get a decent framerate it can be a bit meh, but if you can get close to maxing them out its a completely different ball game.

REDACTED? I thought we're getting TBA. I'm pretty sure I saw TBA as one of the new manufacturers in the new car list Renato posted in the beta forum.

I found VR super immersive even on the very first Oculus CV1. Despite the headset's shortcomings (narrow FOV, screen door effect) it was an immersive experience and I couldn't go back to flat screen.

Yes, it's not comfy, but so as the helmet on real driver's head. It's just an extra step towards realism ;)

Vr is the ultimate immersion for me. Ams2 is clear as a bell and runs brilliantly, i'm actually there in the car, all that's missing is the smell of petrol oil and rubber. Then there's Vtol vr..

That's interesting. I think VR is great, I also think it's not there yet in terms of resolution, comfort and optimization and support from the gaming industry.
I'm mostly on a 4k monitor lately and love the crispness and clarity of the image.
General consensus seems to be; "I'll never use anything else ever again", when first time VR users have just gotten their set.
Then over time they find out that 45 minute race is way less exhausting in pancake mode.
Same goes for me in truck and flightsims.
Have my moments with VR, but when I start missing clarity and eye candy it goes back on the shelf again.

What's the point in having one without the other? TBA v REDACTED is the Porsche v Ferrari for the modern age.

That's what happens to a lot of people. I myself am now more on the monitor than in VR. But if I want full immersion and realism again then I use VR with motion and tactile hardware. This experience is always a new dimension. For me this is as good a simulation as it gets, but even here there are things missing from real reality. In the end, what counts is having fun no matter what you use

For me, VR was like a toy, but nothing more. Sometimes I wanted to play, but after 30-40 minutes I turned it off. VR is currently at too early a stage of development, in my opinion. It's still big, you can still see the screen pixels, plus not everyone has a powerful PC for it, so it will still take about 15 years to become a mass product. And for cybersports, monitors are better.

    Motion sickness diminishes over time.
It is normal to have this unpleasant sensation for a while.
This was also my case, now I do regular endurances on Iracing without any problems.

Oh and you can't take your own experience and make a generality out of it.

A vr headset is clearly not a toy, otherwise 99.9% of simulators would not offer vr. (
every racing simulator have VR, plane simulator, train simulator, even the last (really bad) F1 game)

Those who play (with a good PC) with vr are doing so because they have the sensation of being IN the vehicle.
And it doesn't matter how unpleasant it is in summer, or that you can't look at your phone in a straight line (and miss your braking point).

I don't think you have the necessary hindsight to have a reliable opinion on VR.
After that, I understand 100% those who prefer a triple screen, but I won't explain to them that it's not as good or that it's a toy, because I don't have the hindsight to judge AND especially because it's a subjective opinion.

    Sorry about my bad english.

If you see screen pixels then you do not have your VR set correctly. I use the Quest 3 and there are no pixels to speak of, everything looks incredible. And no, VR will never be a "mass product", it is intended to be a niche product, like how sim racing is not something the mass market will ever be interested in no matter how much the tech advanced in the last 30 years, same with VR, many more people will always prefer driving on a gamepad, same as more using just a monitor / TV .

Also VR is pretty much made for sim racing, more than a toy, it is like it's always been designed for it. When in VR my lap times are always much faster thanks to the perfect depth perception, while on a monitor you always have to learn muscle memory since you are basically driving as if you had one eye closed the whole time. Nothing gives you the closer feeling of being actually THERE, in the car, on the track, like VR does. That is just fact.

My current pc doesn´t run ams2 in vr that well (OLD) but once I borrowed a quest2 from a friend and raced live for speed with it cause it ran really well and I gotta say even with outdated graphics it was nothing short of spectacular. One thing I noticed was how much I was relying on visual cues with flat screen but with vr the ffb became much more pronounced source of information about car behaviour..

That or he has not tried one of the current gen headsets or even a highend like the Bigscreen Beyond

On my Oculus DK1 the screen door effect is very clear - But even on my 4 year old Index (Tomorrow is exactly 4 years since i ordered it on steam store) i bearly seem them - Only if i really try to look i see them

I had the Oculus Rift S for 4 years and the screen door effect was toniceable there, but the Quest 2 already did not have it at all. I am using the Quest 3 at 100% rendering and the image is absolutely incredible.

Comrades, there is no need to invent anything for me. I saw pixels at certain moments, there is no hiding it. The monitor is located right in front of your eyes, you can see pixels in a static picture. In the game, yes, it’s less noticeable, but still the overall picture quality is 70% worse. No ray tracing or other modern goodies that are available on the monitor. VR is not a panacea, VR is a toy.
If you like it in VR, please, I don’t forbid you to do it. I speak my mind.

This is a very important point. Your senses will shift and may react completely differently. It may increase or decrease when using VR or motion or tactile hardware. You will perceive the FFB differently, but again it varies greatly between people. What's important is that you find your own sweet spots with your own available hardware
