I agree with you about people posting comments about the guy's poor driving skill, it's irrelevant. But his presentation skills were relevant and dreadful.

 

Yeah that's bad, I garentee it was not his fault. I respect him for going out there and handling the difficult situation decently well, overtake should've just delayed the stream a few more hours and things would've probably ended up far better.

I think we all need to love Yannick. He did the best he could given the situation. The situation was intrinsically suboptimal and could/should have been planned a little more thoroughly by Overtake TBH.
This doesn't detract an inch from the greatness of the upcoming update and soon enough users will be able to appreciate for themselves.
Let's move on with the real hype shall we?

 

I was expecting a bit more from the stream, but at least we could spot some cool details. For example, the sound seems much improved, curbs and wind effects are now audible (are they new effects?). Handling also looks better, although it was hard to judge fully from the stream.

On the downside, the AI still seems rough, cars ignore the player and occasionally ram them, and there were very few overtaking attempts between AIs. The new UI also doesn't impress me, while it seems practical, it falls short compared to the clean, modern & sleek interfaces we see in titles like LMU or GT7.

Overall, I’m still excited for this update, but it feels like it needs more polish. A release this month, or even next, seems unlikely.

One last word on the stream itself: yes, the quality was low and there were quite a few mistakes from Yannik, but the worst part was the toxicity in the chat. It really wasn’t a good look for the sim racing community.

 

My experience with Beta is that special situations like start of race and some others still show some AI rough edges. The best improvement with AI is with a bit of a longer race where cars are more spaced and things are more settled. There is where you will feel the most difference (like 30/60 minutes races). Five lappers in my experience are not going to show much of an improvement because the special situations are not the place where the improvement mostly sits. My 2 cents..

 

Time to a release date ?

 

Can anyone confirm if custom AI is possible in multiplayer 1.6?

I would very much appreciate it if they just followed this up with a regular video (they should take their sweet time), that's much more coherent and focused in showing off the improvements, content and features of 1.6...

 

That stream is maybe ok after the realese of 1.6 but not at the standard quality of a exclusive content

 

After this failed stream maybe Overtake should change their name to Undertake.

Seriously though, I'm not sure he's supposed to show that car since it hasn't been officially announced or teased by Reiza.

So much complaints, bunch of adult childs that are impossible to satisfy. Damn people, it's been MONTHS where we wanted too see what was behind this famous 1.6 update. Renato gives us bit by bit the info, we wanted more, can't standing the wait until the next Dev Update, and now, out of now where, we have a better glimpse at what look's like a HUGE ****ing update, and people dare complaining on...****ing everything. We had to chew only tiny supplementary info, as small as a single screenshot with fireworks, per exemple, been hyped by it, and now we have for free this 720p 2h long video that oversees massive amount of new AND FREE stuff, and people are not feeling this pure joy that I feel, hyped as hell, it's beyond me.

Let's go Reiza, you are incredible, trow me a new DLC just that I can trow you more of my money, you deserve it!!

 

I'm not a fan of the red based scheme of the UI either. Anything, like an option to select another colour for the base would be nice, example the way you can do this in AC's Content Manager. Red is quite obviously an inflammatory colour.

So there was absolutely zero planning before the stream ? Showing old cars on old tracks, only new thing we saw was the Alpine at Road Atlanta and the Group A Audi (edit) and the GT3 Audi if i saw correctly ? Peak moment was F1 at night on a track absolutely not fit for purpose.

Nothing against the dude driving but the showcase was mostly embarrassing. Reiza and AMS2 deserve better especially after so many months of work and months of players waiting for the 1.6 update.

Should have been a pre-recorded video or at least the channel given clear instructions on "show car X on track Z, then car A on track B" etc.

 

Would be nice to have UI options where we could use a color wheel for any color we would want. Honestly for many more UI elements there should be color options like that especially to help colorblind people.
