Fellow biker by chance? Amazing how one can feel tyre pressures being sub optimal on a bike, really affects handling! Not so bad on the car, but my OCD is fully activated by motorcycle tyres and pressures!

Having read all the tyre talk I am looking forward to 1.6 all the more, I just hope the AI are more reactive and calibrated to track conditions/temps, tyre temp/wear, and fuel load as the physics mature...

Just a quick note, CC messages are not particularly helpful related to tire or brake temps because AFAIK they are not specific to the car model. In AMS 2 there is such a huge variation in vehicles simulated with the expected variation in optimal operating temperatures.

Wow, of all the racing sims available, he likes the driving behavior of v1.6 AMS2 the most!? He drives some race cars in real life, too, right??

I dont know if he drives IRL but his opinion is really that what counts for me between all other content creators. He is really analytical and neutral.

    MP from Iracing
    FFB from RF2
Graphics and feels from AMS2 ( sorry but ACC graphics are inferiors to AMS2 except somes cars)
Sound from AMS2 and rFactor 2

Wouldn‘t it be nice if the setup UI shows you what tires are used and what is there working area temperature? Or the car selection could show it also.

Generally setup tire pressures are set to target working area already (cars without pre-heating blankets are set to cold pressures that have target warm pressures in mind) all being also thoroughly counterchecked for 1.6 to be the case - to fine tune it, monitoring I/M/O temps in telemetry HUD and feel on track becomes important.

(Perfectly green tire colours are optimal temp range, lime green goes into slightly overheating but still working, blue-ish green goes into slightly undercooled territory, also here 1.6 will provide that it actually shows the correct window - no promise can be made to optimal tire temp info elsewhere for now)

TBH that video makes me more hype for 1.6 than Overtakes livestream did.

If Nils like the feel that much, we are really in for a treat

And we KNOW that dude always pushes the car to the edge. Sounds like they've finally got it under control!

I'll get exited about the huge variety of cars in AMS2 when the AI can use more than one tyre compound.

It's a bit of a strange opinion since he is giving best graphics to AC EVO, which is a game which isn't even released and we have seen very little of.

I have this exact same question myself! The AI not taking other dry compounds into account was quite annoying, especially when they all started on the same one. Maybe it was based on race distance for me, but I'd love to see the alternative strategies like 15 cars starting on Mediums, and 4 others (not including the player) starting on Hards.

I'm wary of trailer footage myself, although the parts labeled as in-game footage looked amazing, consistent with the screenshots. So I think it's a fair assumption that what we saw is what we'll get.

As I see the rumblings around what people hope for I keep seeing trail braking mentioned.

Trail braking in GT3 cars and 'trail braking' in F1 cars is not the same, especially in the older F1 cars.
Here is some telemetry to show it:

That is from 2011 but the same applies to modern F1.

Having a gradual release of the brake pedal and riding the brake at 30% to the apex are not the same and people should not be surprised if some cars punish the latter.

Edit: Realised that one of my sources is bunk, so removed the first image and replaced it with relevant telemetry from 2011.

Interesting. This is obviously subjective but I'd say ACC has a better sound. Eg, driving the BMW M4 in ACC and then the M4 in AMS2 the ACC version is a much higher quality sound. Unless 1.6 has changed the audio substantially.

It could be that it's running at 3 fps with max raytracing effects, and actual playable gameplay would be heavily toned down, so I wouldn't trust it.

Improved audio is one of the unexpected highlights of 1.6.
