i'm streaming AMS 2 rn (1.5 before anyone asks) and the questions are all "1.6 1.6 1.6." :D

But i'm in NDA's with a few sim developers, so i know how to behave. ;)

I'll wait for Nils, with real footage, and if I'm brave or lucky enough, I may pass that too and go straight to the sim (it should only take a few days between reviews and v1.6 availability).
Anyways, I guess what Nils is going to say... (1h29'44'')

He's just saying that 1.6 feels better than 1.5 in terms of physics, graphics, and sound, which everyone already knows or expects. The screenshots are images posted by Reiza.

Two things that should be reviewed in my opinion are track limits and the skip button in the sessions.

Track limits are too strict in many tracks, for example curitiba and velopark where you get track limits even if you touch the yellow sausage inside the kerb in t1 of both tracks.

The skip button is quite broken and I always do 10 minute qualifying sessions because if I skip I will end up in last place almost always, and the same for the race, if you retire on last lap you will see the leader finish in 8th or 9th position which is quite immersion breaking. Hopefully madness engine can be improved under this aspect, even having a button to speed up the time would be nice.

These would be huge quality of life improvements.

Hard disagree from me, sorry mate. Track limits are lenient enough.

It could be nice to have a strict or loose option for track limits, one set to white lines the other more forgiving, that i'd be in favour of.

You can set the limit of infractions you can have for each race so more or less there is already something like that, I just feel that using a kerb shouldn't invalidate your lap, especially if it's the inside one, in the two tracks I mentioned it's quite weird because it is a normal kerb, but yeah maybe it has something to do with the white lines.

The problem is not the track limits themselves, which are always crystal clear (on an internationally-rated track) as the lines at the edge of the track. The problem is that the game enforces F1-style multi-camera and sensor millimetre-precise limits when almost all (other) racing series and tracks use the track itself and natural features to penalize violations...because the technology to do more either didn't exist when the track was designed and built, or, because the series can't afford to use the technology today.

The sausage curbs and other big or serrated curbs are there because you will risk wrecking your car if you traverse them. Grass may be there because you will risk spinning if you touch or cross it. Obstacles may be placed where cuts could occur. Etc., etc. No need to monitor so closely because anyone cutting will by definition be taking some extra risk of damage or a crash...assuming it is one of the rare places where going off the track is just obviously slower and no one would do it by choice.

In the game, there are a few places where even F1 or top series allow cars to go past the white edge line, so they are not penalized in the game (T1 at Hockenheim being a good example).

I'm not sure if we will reach the point of simulation accuracy where running a very low car (e.g., modern F1) over heavily serrated curbs repeatedly will cause damage to the car. I'm not sure if AI get penalized for track limits the same as the player. There is no simple "better" choice, but in my mind the track cut penalties are useful for online racing, to prevent blatant cheating, but mostly redundant for offline racing unless you intend to cheat as a way to beat AI competitors. I haven't reached that state of desperation in my life :)

I am thinking that this discussion is pointless spam at this point and it will be better to wait until Reiza make an announcement.

What if Reiza doesn't actually go on holiday, but they are heading to Petit Le Mans for next weekend to do a great IMSA launch during IMSA event?

It would be a great time to drop 1.6 + IMSA pack.
I'm not betting on it but a man can dream
