I can’t explain why I have such high expectations. Maybe it’s Kunos’ legacy, maybe it’s the trailer, the gameplay, the development team’s statements on the game’s features, or the content shown so far with exceptional graphical detail. Maybe it’s because it’s a brand-new game, with a modern graphics engine tailored for simracing. I don’t know, but everyone is free to have the expectations they want, right?

Whether you have expectations for Evo or not is totally irrelevant to me. If you’re interested, I don’t have high hopes for the next movie about giant unicorns saving the world either, but I’m sure you’ll sleep just fine at night.

Of course, no one expects Assetto Corsa Evo to be the revolution of simulators by January. As the developers stated, there will be at least 20 cars and 5 circuits at the time of early access launch. Every revolution takes time, but it has to start with a small step.

If it lives up to my expectations, I’ll memorize all 5 circuits in every weather condition and with every possible car until the full game is released, so I’ll be ready to compete in races.

I didn’t want to go off-topic again, but my main point remains that AMS2 has taken too long for this new release, and it risks being overlooked as many simracers might switch to other simulators. The hype train 1.6 is stopped due to a track failure on platform A, and no one knows when it will restart for its spectacular stops. Meanwhile, as they repair it and announce the departure time, I’m moving to platform C, where the train is about to leave for Bathurst Mount Panorama, where the best drivers in the world will compete in RaceRoom with 90s F1 cars. I’ll send you a postcard. Cheers!

I'm more curious where platform C is located exactly, because international trains and Australia are not a match made in heaven.

I guess we'll never get that postcard :(

I think Kunos, smartly, is doing the same thing it did with AC. That game was very bare bones in the beginning. Took about four years before most of the Kunos content (vs mods) was fully fleshed out. They also have lots of flexibility. They can wait to see what the market really wants and adjust accordingly.

I think comparing AMS2 to AC EVO is pointless though. Renato says the company is fine financially. That means user base must be sufficient to make that so. Why chase after more $$ when you are a purist and you got $$ to play with? What would they have shown anyway?

The two titles have different approaches. Besides the game play, AMS2 emphasizes the history of racing 1960s through this decade, the stuff I absorbed growing up. I suspect that appeal is there for others. Kunos seems more brand oriented. It's like music. Just because I love Jazz doesn't mean I don't listen to Metal if I like the song.

I hope AMS2 fleshes out the PC2 Career mode. I like the fact that you could win by helping your team win a championship. I really like playing the role of a support driver sometimes because it means you can still make a difference if your setup is not quite right that race. I like carrer mode because it gives you goals to work toward and I don't have to be online.

In the end, Kunos does what it thinks is best for Kunos, and Reiza does what it thinks is best for Reiza. The outcome being unsure, like most things in life.

Then you have the consumers, some of whom invariably know everything better, stating things as hard facts, despite usually having no real knowledge or insight into anything more than their own opinion.

Well, all I just did was describe the majority of the internet in a nutshell, well done me. I'm off to platform D.

I actually prefer PC1 career, its format made it feel more dynamic and "alive" so to say, with the schedule and results from the other disciplines concurrent with the player progress. It was very bare bones though in that it was pretty repetitive and had 0 dynamism, but PC2 was the same in that sense.

I hope AMS2 does something similar but expands on it, a dynamic and living motorsports world so to say. With drivers moving up through the ranks with you, others retiring. Teams getting better/worse each season, dynamic schedules within the same championships, etc.

They have so many car classes/tracks that they have a lot of options for a proper and expansive career mode. They could even let the player choose what decade to start the career, hopefully they do something special and not just choose a discipline and raise through the ranks with the same races and opponents each time.

I remember in PC1 that you had virtual people cheering you on its "social media" when you won, that was quite funny to see :D

Yep, there are many possibilities with the breadth of content in the game. It should enable Reiza to make something appealing out of it, once the trauma of releasing V1.6 subsided ;)

Too late now. The only way to get rid of is to travel into the past and race it off a cliff. Sorry.

I have a question, doesn't Kunos have its own forum?

It does but we have nothing new to talk about with ams2 / 1.6, we have had radio silence for a month now.
