In fairness to iRacing the base tyre model is 20 plus years old now. They keep playing with it but all in all it's getting on.
RF2 /LMU still has the same "Hack..." Just soften everything to the max to go faster. Same as AMS1.
    I guess it's why I'm here. AMS2 I like 1.5 for most cars big hopes for 1.6

As far as I can see/hear (going of the engine sound since that's the only thing relevant to throttle input) it LOOKS a bit better then the current version but it also still looks abusable. The track choice also doesn't allow for it to be properly tested. I wish someone tests something like Le Mans or Brands Hatch.

It's a great shame because I really want this sim and the folks over at Reiza to succeed. I really want it to be my only game sooo bad because they do a lot of stuff insanely well. Just a few days ago I was contemplating getting the iRacing membership while on sals but decided against it partly because after getting all of the content for ACC and then moving to AMS2 and getting all of the content there I didn't want to jump ship again and open yet another money pit, but mostly because I just wanted to give Reiza the respect and benefit of the doubt that they actually worked their bottoms off to deliver something remarkable. Or atleast something that addresses the issues of the current version. Upon seeing Mikes video and realising that all of us have been waiting for a better part of a year for this, being promissed a fixed game, being promissed a fresh experience I am once again thinking about jumping ship. I don't care anymore. Call me a traveler. Call me an idiot. Call me whiny. Call me whatever you want.
At the end of the day I just want my sim to provide me with the most authentic racecar feeling, and as much fun as AMS2 is it just still looks to be lacking in some way in the core physics/handling/tyre model.

Yep the TC system also responds to such cases.

I don't know if it's on purpose, but every preview that friends on social media make (with all due respect) leaves me with more doubts. I don't know if Reiza does it on purpose, but from my point of view, none of the videos were taken seriously. They make the simulator look like an arcade game. The videos that were uploaded without permission were x1000 more convincing than the "official" ones. I'm waiting for some hardcore simracing pro to get a more realistic view. I'm mostly looking forward to seeing fix and new features that give more immersion. There was always more than enough content for my taste. Cheers!

Stock setup designed for everything in a street circuit will probably be oversteery
Drive it before you judge it dude

I agree that at the time much of it was pre-programmed, due to the restrictions of the time, but my however is that exactly so many years later a game with more human-like AI is not spared, we have evolved a lot in programming and hardware, but it is difficult for you to see the AI overtake you, or defend yourself, in the case of AMS2 there is hardly any AI x AI overtaking! I think the programming must be a bit complex then, as we haven't had any game on the market with more human-like AI in a long time!

I want someone like Jimmy or maybe James Baldwin to give it a go. Two guys who have experienced the game in a few stages already and who could say to us if the 1.6 is a step forward, sidestep or a diagonal...

I have to ask that: Last time you commented on previews etc. you didn't own the title by yourself and judging only by videos, have you tried out AMS2 at this point eventually?

With each update there were changes, that were also noticeable in the game, and certainly not only empty "this and that".

I understand that one. My opinion is just wait to drive it before you judge it. (PS I haven't driven it) But my expectation would be if I took a set up designed for Suzuka to a street circuit like long beach or Adelaide I would probably expect a very slidy car on both ends. My assumption is Mike didn't change the set up. All is good though if it's still not your cup it tea you have a plethora of other options :)

Let's not act like the powersliding through the corner is a setup related issue. And even if it was fixable with a setup tweak, that is not what the setups are for. They are there to alter the feeling of the car based on the track characteristics and the driver preference, not to eradicate game flaws.

Yeah I did try it eventually. Sadly it was at my nephew's house where he has the necessary gear to test it.
But I do disagree fully that by looking at videos you don't see several trends. To see that the AI does unrealistic things for example. I want this sim to succeed because I have been following it for a long time and I am a weird guy :)
And to be clear I am not saying there haven't been massive massive changes to the sim. I think the team and beta members have worked tirelessly and with utmost passion and love. With the this and that I mean as soon as there is criticism people counteract with this and that. Then Reiza finds something and those same people then praise it like they didn't say anything before.
I have the utmost respect for Reiza because they are so passionate and want to get things right. I agree that I am weird and supercritical.

Everyone who’s gone hands on with 1.6+ has commented on how much better the cars feel overall. Even Mike in his video said as much.

I’m not going to worry too much yet given the car, gearing, track, and weather combination. But I’m hopeful to try for myself soon. :p

In the video, he's not powersliding through corners. The complaint that was brought up was oversteer on corner exit. The previous issue with the game was that cars were constantly sliding around at least in some degree, and it was fast to do that. Allegedly, that is gone now, but the ability to slide a car around is not inherently wrong, or a problem, because you can do that in a real GT3 and be fine, it'll just be slow. The problem is with how much sliding you're able to get away with, which is yet to be seen.

I'm the last person who'd make excuses for this game's flaws, because they've kept me from playing for nearly a year, but as a dozen others have said, wait for it to release before you get all doom and gloom about it. Most people haven't even driven this new version to confirm or deny what you see from a single video.

I use V6000 extreme v2. The wheel feels very lively, tracking many indulations. I'm running at Alpha U between 10-18 nm depending on car. RRE feels very bland to me.

You think you can't powerslide a race car through a corner in changeable conditions?

Obviously you can but on a dry track that shouldn't be the prefered way around the track... However in the current version that is the case and my point is that setup changes shouldn't be used to dial this game mechanic out. And neither should they be necessary in 1.6.

Oversteer on exit was clearly gearing and throttle control. Mike was going down to first in nearly all the corners, completely unnecessary. I have no doubt that it won't be an issue with proper modulation. I just hope that as you said "it was faster to powerslide through the corners", I hope that part is behind us.
