Been sim racing for 4 years now and i learned to not trust a video how something "feels". Then again 1.5 to me already feels great and the people who were allowed to share their thoughts publically on 1.6 said it is a big improvement in regards to how much more careful you have to be with how heat affects grip, selecting tire compounds is even more important and that it really does not have a "slide" feeling anymore. Here at 20:05 you can see that push too much, overheat, and you crash next corner.

 

This content update will be tremendous. But it's easyly overshadowed by progress in driving physics, imo.
Actually you'll get 100+ new cars.

Yea, it's a low gear+high torque thing there exacerbated by mixed conditions, using 2nd gear in times where he dropped to 1st would have been preferable and likely helped.

I've done a lot of laps around all the new tracks both on my own and against the ai since the beta started and I can't recall at any time thinking "I wish this thing was more like 1.5", so much so that I can count the times I've fired up the current live version on one hand and pretty much exclusively driven the beta since it started.

Using Nords with the GT3 gen 1+2 in ai races as my fav go-to test track, 1.6 just gives a much more visceral driving experience and *for me* when one of those "hello armco" moments rears it's ugly head it's likely gonna be me driving like a twonk...just like in the preview race previously posted when I spun in front of Renato when with worn and hot tires I lifted going into a right hand corner and the tail wagged the dog with my Porsche.

All I can suggest is go into 1.6 with a blank mind when it arrives without others *visual* opinions ringing in your thoughts and discover your own.

 

From what I've seen the AI seems to me to be at a more consistent pace now. Less of that super fast in some sections and super slow in some corners that used to happen

 

It would be easy for someone to confirm by running the same track/car combo and letting us know but Ive been following Mike for years and sure he is not fast but I have never seen such constant oversteer corrections from him.

Ive been championing AMS2 for years but once the oversteer on corner issue was introduced (few years ago already) I was less enthusiastic for AMS2 and have not played for months due to this issue. I am really really hoping it is gone because there is no interest continuing if all I get is the oversteer it just feels horrible and takes me out of the moment.

Dont get me wrong some cars are fine but others really do it like crazy including the GT3s which if you look at onboards for real races these guys hammer the throttle and brake without that 99% of the time.

I can do that tonight when I get home actually and report back, plus I'm sure other beta users will do it before me anyway.

 

Indeed it's not WHAT you say, but HOW you say it. See Nils' videos where he can pick up the bad things in a measured way and back it up with facts and I doubt anyone sees a problem with that. When folks say "Hurr durr, AMS2 slidey. Where's my refund?!?!?!!!!!111oneeleven" then of course people (myself included) will dislike that, even if would be true. And you don't even have to be a fanboy to dislike this level of "conversation"

You watched a video and created your opinion. I've been playing the beta and my perception is very different from yours, so I disagreed with what you said. You have every right to have your own opinion, but you were bothered by why some people disagree. Personally I would always buy the packs, like I do in RF2 but having the option may suit some, of course that might not make business sense for Reiza and would make buying DLCs more confusing for some....

I never said it's bad. I'm just saying that the hype built up for the physics and AI is not justified. I'm not seeing anything game changing on offer. Maybe the physics are less silly, maybe the AI is less stupid, y'know? Incremental upgrades. I'm definitely going to try the patch first before buying any of the new DLCs.
