That is the best overview by far and I couldn't understand a word haha - very slick and the game looks fantastic!

 

Glad the career is something that could materialize next year. Reiza could do something unique here with a progression through different categories and eras.

I have been fantasising about a career a bit like Crusader Kings (2).

In that game, there is basically a historical database with nearly all relevant historical persons and their positions. You choose a year (like, 762 AD) and a person, and you begin as that person in that year, and from then on everything is simulated and the world reacts to your actions.

Why not something but in racing? I choose John Surtees in 1966 and follow what he would have done in his career - we have real date weather and perhaps i take it up to 1970s f1. Perhaps instead I switch to Vintage GTs after a short F1 career, or I could end up like Alonso but racing in 1985.

Now I choose Sebastien Bourdais in F1. Can I do better? Do i go to IMSA after all? do I stay with Formula USA?

Perhaps Instead I start as a karting enthusiast and work my way up but fail in F3. Perhaps I go to America or perhaps become a Brazilian stock car racer in 2021!

And all the while all the real championships are being simulated with the real drivers, and I can choose my career! I was considering working on a career mode app like this, but if they're bringing a career soon enough for there to be a button perhaps it's not worth it.

 

So what is release tomorrow ?

Mabix’s opinion in his video about LMU and iRacing physics, especially during that "code brown" moment driving the Alpine (23:10), concerns me a bit. That’s exactly the kind of challenge I’d like to see in AMS2. I just hope the simulation becomes less forgiving and simplified. Either way, I’ll find out for myself when I try version 1.6!

 

I think it will be a challenge but still be possible to safe and thats good. If it is like LMU or iRacing it would be not good. Thats AMS2 characteristics and should not change in a much more less forgoving like the other hardcore sims because thats too frustrating and not fun to drive anymore. I like what I see.

 

I must say that I'm a bit disappointed to see that the HUD is still the same. I hope they are on a different build and that it will actually be changed for the release

 

The game looked great in Mabix's video, the lighting appears more natural, and the car shaders also seem improved. It's not a visual revolution, but everything seems to look a bit better.

The interface update is a bit disappointing, though. It looks a bit more modern, but we're far from the HUD and menus of LMU or GT7. Hopefully, Reiza will keep improving this aspect of the game.

 

Personally, I don't want AMS2 handling to become like iRacing or LMU. AMS2 needed some refinement in terms of physics, but it doesn't need to lose its DNA. From what I can tell from Mabix's video, it's a bit more demanding but still accessible, and that's good enough for a filthy casual sim racer like me.

 

As far as iRacing goes, Mabix mostly said it has probably the worst tire model in sim racing, not sure I want that challenge You can make it as hard as you like really by just messing with the setup. Defaults are pretty understeery and safe in general.

The LMP2s for example will feel rock solid on default, just taking a click of front wing and a few on the rear away on a track like Spa will already make the car feel far more alive. Do some more work and it’s perfectly possible to end up with a car that while fast feels positively dangerous.

Personally I prefer that over a car that feels alien to drive out of the box and having to use the setup to make it feel somewhat decent for me. To each their own though.

But as you mentioned, it should not be too long now. Since there will be some days to try the new cars out to see if people like them or not, all should be good and no feelings should be hurt… famous last words.

 

me an my frieand are so hyped! Will it be possible to race a season with Friends? Or choose exactly against what cars with what liverys we race so we do our standings on our own?
