I also believe the 'its ready when it's ready' approach is good for everyone here on the forums. We will wait for it and play it, no matter how long it takes.
But not every simracer is waiting for it as eagerly as we do. They see the Nils and other videos popping up and are curious what's that all about.
In best case they do a little research and find out it's not there yet and there is no approximate date or even a hint for when it will be, and they move on. Hopefully to come back later.
In worst case they buy the game, try it for themselves and aren't feeling what Nils and others are saying because they are still on 1.5, they refund and never look back.

For me it's either when, I'll wait, just as everyone here on the forum, but my iracing teammates can't care less anymore as the hype train is gone, and the second train is going as well...

 

Yeah but thats physics, there's always going to be a next physics milestone on the horizon, hell look at any sim and you'll see they are not necesarily on the physics they released with. But there are things that are not physics that will ruin the experience if their not polished, and thats what they're trying to do right now

 

Not suggesting they're holding it back on purpose or because of some marketing strategy ^^ My point was just, they have been improving, and improving, and improving for quite a long time and the point at which to say "enough is enough" is not really a clear-cut thing. So there are some decisions to be made regarding the reasonable cutoff point that directly influence the time of release, and within these decisions I don't think it's unreasonable to take a look at current market situation and weigh it against the benefit of some more improvements.

That said, yes, in the beta we're in an unavoidable tidying up stage right now and as long as that's not finished, there can be no release. Can't really have a public release in an offline-focused game with AI that is not checked performance-wise for all classes.

 

Some like the default settings, I personally almost always soften the rear springs to get rid of oversteer and the general sliding when applying throttle. Other than that I think the stock setups are pretty good for getting consistent lap times.

 

From the video i can't really see a graphic improvement (can't talk about physic as i havent play). Probably that is still a test and not the final final final version.

 

From my beta testing, you can be perfectly competitive with the defaults in most cars. Some are more understeery than others, but nothing undrivable and all I have tried feel good.

I am not too savvy with setups and they work great for me as is and perfect to use as a baseline for the changes you may want to do.

 

After months, I returned to driving a GT3 Gen2 at the Nordschleife. I felt very comfortable with the BMW M4, but the best feeling came with the Porsche 992. Although I’m not a big fan of the brand, I have to say the car handles really well; even the sliding feels realistic, with a generally consistent driving experience.

Previously, I drove over 10,000 km with the BMW M6 GT3 Gen1 in various custom championships in single-player mode. While the overall experience was positive, I found the tires to be too slippery under certain conditions. I particularly struggled on tracks like Imola, Buenos Aires, and, to some extent, Laguna Seca, where it was hard to maintain a clean driving line.

 

A week has passed for the rest of the world, that's like a day in Brazil
Few (Brazilian) days more! Can't wait for the track update!

 

If you check on steamdb.info they have been updating both the beta and the actual AMS2 twice a day for the last 3 days, it definitely seems to get closer. But if they keep finding bugs, what else can they do?

Question: on this video we can see that the AI is fast as a rabbit…they don’t care if it’s rain or not, is this final version of the AI for the 1.6update? AI has a lot of Grip that the player doesn’t…..

 

Or Mabix simply set AI strength too high. for his presentation.
I'm having a great time against them in rainy conditions.

 

Still some fine tuning, but it's one of the biggest improvements from 1.5. There will probably still be some combos off, either too fast or too slow AI since there are so many combinations. But it's not like they are gonna stop developing the AI after 1.6, so given time it should be good for all classes.

Maybe it's just me seeing it this way, but there could be more "Automobilista 2 V1.6 Development Update" content, even with less text, but highlighting one new thing at a time.

 

This happens already in the public version in Spa when raining. The AI is way too fast in Eau Rouge, and then considerably slower in the rest of the circuit. You can see how he always catch them after the fast section. Not good news that this still happens

 

That idea (one video per feature) is what I imagine plenty of Paddock Club members who are also content creators have been yearning to make videos about once the embargo lifts
