To get back on topic... What cars are you excited for that you fear others may overlook?

For me both the Ligier LMP2 and Convertible C3 Corvette are such welcome additions. The Ligier especially, it's nice having more than one option with LMP2. And for the C3 Convertible... these odd historic racecars is a huge reason I got into motorsports. It's incredible to see something that would normally be dismissed by other devs for being too similar to the C3 being added to AMS 2.

 

I agree having the Ligier is awesome. I think the decision to make an LMP2 Gen 1 and LMP2 Gen 2 is also genius. It allows us to have the 2024 grid the way it should be, and the LMP2 Gen 1 can be used with DPi, GTE, and GT3 to recreate IMSA days before LMP2 were knocked down to seperate them from DPi, or they can be used with some AI tweaking with P1 Ligier and for the time being Ginetta, and GTE for European Le Mans series.

In terms of what I'm worried people will overlook? I don't really worry about what others are overlooking as long as I'm enjoying it.

 

Many cars changed so much in behavior that it might be beneficial for people -after the initial hype of the new DLC wears off, if they get it- to revisit some content that was in the game already and some of it for a long time.

As has been revealed now, some people were unaware of the Cadillac DPi, which was always a front-runner as far as: does not slide that much. So there may be more hidden gems to find after V1.6 gets released, or not, and it's all horrible still.

Edit: the impossible has happened, I can drive the Copa Fusca. Not well, mind you, but I can drive it

 

I’m sitting on a 90s Group A/DTM championship that is only waiting for a certain 4-wheel-drive sedan by a car manufacturer defined by 4 rings. I’ll definitely beef it going down Mount Panorama, but hopefully that (probably) guaranteed DNF won’t be enough to knock me out of contention.

I expect both Ligiers to be a blast though, and I’ll probably test drive just about everything. Truth be told money is tight so I think I might skip over the Lambo pack, even though it looks like a lot of fun.

ETA: Glad everyone is appreciating the DPi, it’s probably my favorite Prototype in the game! I even made a skin pack for it, if anyone is looking for that sort of thing

 

I am looking forward to retrying the Formula 1 classics gen 3! I am also working on making a new wheel for myself (nothing serious, I just don't want to pay exorbitant Fanatec prices for a chip I can buy for 5 euros and program myself), and I'm SO excited to try the new tyres, the flat-spot modelling, new puff of smoke shaders, etc. If any beta testers have had chance to have a go on any of the F1 Classic cars and can comment. I'm hoping this can count as "New Car" on topic enough given the changes to the tyres of all the old cars...


OH and - one point to make, for those excited about the new LMP2s that Just Can't Wait, don't forget that the DPi is based on the Dallara LMP2 chassis (they look basically the same except for the scary headlight design for the DPi) and they make a great stand-in for the Orecas/Ligiers in IMSA GTP/GT3/LMP2 multi class racing. They look similar from behind, which is the only side that really matters if you're in a LMDh (you might see it for a couple of seconds as you whizz past).

 

Really? I haven't driven it much but I remember it was a 15 mins and never again kinda car for me.
I'm gonna have to give it another go.

 

So trying to play MSFS24 has not proved a fruitful distraction in my wait for 1.6.

Most don't ask for ETA, just ask why even keep giving the soft ETAs if Reiza accepted that not holding up to them is just the way they do things.

I may sound like a broken record, but one half of the community here keeps ridiculing the other for no reason at all.

It's perfectly reasonable to expect "the next few days" to span over less than 9 days.

Reiza has all the right to do things
however they wish, but demonizing members of the community for hoping that Reiza words hold meaning is just unfair

 

Just drove it again. Its good but you can push it to oblivion without anything happening, will retry again in 1.6 and see if I get slapped into the barrier for doing what I just did.

 

I think the MSFS issue is a very different context, that launch is on a completely different scale with massive demand on server resource. The issues they've had aren't the same as what Reiza is doing with 1.6

 

That's the whole point of the "soft ETA": it can go beyond the date. And semantically, "soon", "few days" is not really a measurable amount of time. And (as ETA acronym stands) those were and are just estimations with no solid meaning anyway.
Read them as "those vague timescales are what team is internally aiming for without killing themselves during the crunch to meet it, and may, or not come to fruition at that time for one reason or another" and we'll all be in a happy place

IMO = in my opinion

 

Yeah, those servers were not having a good time... I got in twice with a total of almost 5hrs?! Seems I was one of the lucky ones.
Found plenty of rough edges that are just inexcusable for a project on this budget on release...
Will be happy to fully dedicate evening-seat-time to 1.6 once they get it out the door.
Eagerly anticipating the media-ban to lift...

 

The cars I’m most excited about are definitely the prototypes: the Oreca/Ligier LMP2 and the Ligier P1. I can’t wait to drive them in a single-player championship to emulate the Imperio Endurance Brasil series.

 

Definitely curious to see how the LMP2 cars drive too. Also will try out the Ligier P1 and see how that is. Genuinely interested to see how pretty much all the new additions are tbh besides the Lamborghini Hypercar really.
