    Is it save to use the Max Visible Vehicle setting in online MP again? Did this patch fix the invisible cars problem?

    Any updates on the memory leak ? The significant performance downgrade is most definitely not "because new shaders", that doesn't suddenly caused the framerate to randomly drop by half. I mean AMS2 VR went from the absolute best on the market to some of the worst right now. And even non-VR there are serious fluctuations.

    I hope physics are not done yet (and I guess Reiza is also thinking he same).
    Although this version represents a huge step forward on tyres front, there are a few physics aspects to be worked upon to elevate it to the next level.
    The tyres are not the limiting factor for AMS2.

    I did not have them hidden before since LFM advised it. I have them hidden now and haven't had any issues

    I raced the Gen2 AMG yesterday and it has this incessant tyre scrubbing sound which makes you feel like your tyres are constantly slipping even though the car doesn't feel or act like it. I think some of these sound thresholds need some degree of tuning.

    (Not specific to this car, you hear it in loads of them)

    Here is another way to view full replays in Test Day, but it is just as weird. I use it often.
    When you have decided to finish your Test Day session, drive into the pit exit lane. You will get a "disqualification", wait a couple of seconds, hit "skip to end", and the next screen will show an option to "view replay", so choose it. Up near the top of the next screen choose "save". (I think you need to choose it fairly quickly or it may disappear.
    Your full replay is now available with all of your other replays.
    Certainly weird, pity AMS2 doesn't save replays for test days like other racing sims.

    I have tyre volume set to 20 in the settings. Makes it a lot better.

    Would be nice to get some acknowledgement of this , can't just be a handful of us having this issue can it? Albeit I turned down partial density to low and set gsync up on NVCP and for the last two nights I've had absolute buttery smooth frame rates with no slow down.

    Same here, I think this is part of the reason why some people thought the game was too slidey. I'm not saying the sliding didn't need to be toned down but the tyre squeal at standard volume gave the impression that it was far worse than it actually was.

    IMO the "slidey" thing is down to a couple of factors, mainly:
    - Default + giving you a lot of weight transfer feedback which can sometimes make you think the rear is more loose than it is, the body is moving but the tyres are holding well, but since what you feel in the ffb is movement it doesnt feel planted at all.
    - Tyre noise being too much, tyre scrubing noise has to be rethinked in ams2, it's been too much since day 1 and I think it should come later and with less intensity.
    - Camera exagerating yaw too much, default camera moves way too much and sways left and right giving an impresion of "drift", also the fact that one of the camera settings is named "legacy" is confusing, its a perfectly normal setting that actually a lot of people like, but since it's named legacy some people asume it's an old system they shouldnt be using.
    - TC being poorly modeled, traction control doesn't control traction very well, it's too optimistic at low speeds and too pesimistic at high speeds, which means that with GT3 cars, the cars everybody seems to try as a first option, when at low speeds out of a corner you give it some throttle the car tends to slide, TC slip should prevent this but it doesnt.and then at high speeds it interfers too much with the car.

    This is exactly where the problem lies. What a waste of this varied simulation. 90% of people only drive GT3, everything is just tuned and evaluated accordingly

    I assume Reiza have the data but I rarely drive the GT3s and I'm guessing from the comments here quite a few people feel the same way. I think because online on all sims it seems to lean heavily towards GT3 people assume that's all anyone is playing when it's probably just the easiest way to find a full lobby and is supposedly beginner friendly because of ABS and TC.

    To be fair, with the recent push for IMSA in the sim, I can't blame anybody for trying the IMSA content first, and that includes the GT3's, Lmdh also have the problem of the TC settings so there's that. But yeah, GT3s are sadly a benchmark nowadays and I don't think that's going to change anytime soon with how popular those cars are IRL.

    At least it is the GT3 Gen2 used on LFM which i enjoy with 1.6. At least now LFM added F-Classic Gen 4 but they mistake they done is they chose MONACO of all things as the first round ?! 30 minute race with those cars on that track is madness with an open lobby even on LFM one. Should have been something like Spa 93 or Monza 91 so people can be more comfy with the cars first.

    It's not the first round, it's the 3rd. First was Hockenheim and 2nd was Silverstone.

    I agree with the first three in that AMS 2 (and Reiza) leans towards communicative feedback. As you mention, you can always tone things down, but the default is going to let you know what the car is doing. My brain prefers this approach--the less processing required, the better for me. The less video game-style twitch memorization the better--I want to jump in a car and drive it like a would a real one based solely on sensory inputs (which since I don't have a million-dollar F1 sim rig means some things need to be exaggerated to make up for the fact I am sitting in my home on a PC with decent, but still rudimentary equipment.

    And as a general reply, not specific to someone experienced like you, the TC is another issue (and of course we are only referring to the authentic in-car TC here as it is assumed no one serious would ever use the generic driving aids). I am not about to claim that every car has perfectly tuned TC, but I don't think it is "poorly implemented." The HUD indicator is probably poorly implemented as it flashes away at the slightest provocation like a road car SC dash light. But TC in a race car isn't like TC/SC in a road car (thank goodness!):
    • really only needed for poor track conditions (moisture or some temporary spill of something)
    • specifically designed not to kill all the rotation in the car since race drivers need to use that to be faster
    • specifically designed not to kill all the forward momentum with too-aggressive wheelspin control (like a road car)
    So, for anyone curious, be a "real man" (politically incorrect sarcasm!!!) and turn off the TC if you are on a dry track. You might discover GT3 cars can be fun to toss around, just like real race cars.

    You might discover that, shock of shocks, they operate perfectly fine on their own and do not need TC at all. Then, just like real race car drivers, you may discover one particular corner or two where there is a bit of a challenge that causes a bit of stress, notch the TC up to 1 or 2 or 3 and see if it helps calm things in that corner. If it's raining, go ahead and use the TC as intended, to prevent unexpected changes in surface grip from catching you out. It's not designed to prevent spins or allow one to drive in the wet as if it was dry--let's be honest, even the worst GT3 pay drivers are not that incompetent or inexperienced and the pro drivers certainly are not.

    What you should discover is that the default set-up TC. like every other setting in the garage, is a compromise that cannot possibly work well in all conditions. Map a dial or buttons for TC because if you were a real race driver you'd be adjusting it regularly:
    • Goal 1 -- as quickly as possible figure out the minimum value you can get away with (preferably off)
    • Goal 2 -- however, don't turn it completely off right away as the cold tires are equivalent to driving on a damp surface and exactly the reason you have TC
    • Goal 3 -- once tires are up to temp, on a dry surface, as you are driving competently, can you get away with TC=0, or, is your driving style resulting in excess wheelspin (that's me, with too heavy a foot out of corners), so you might want a small amount of TC to compensate for that (and you will likely notice it helping to manage tire temps over the course of several laps)
    • Goal 4 -- if you in a long stint or race, and you notice your own attention span waning, remember to add some TC (or ABS, too) to compensate because it's better to trim a few tenths from electronic nanny intervention than to lose the car in a corner due to momentary inattention
    When I hopped in a car with default TC levels on, I used to jump to the same conclusion you did. Once I started using it "properly" as a real GT3 driver would, my opinion changed.

    I have less of a problem with how the cars drive vs how the TC operates, I understand the TC will allow some slide to be able to rotate the car properly, otherwise it would be useless, and for example in some of the formula cars I think it works pretty well. But in a GT3 with TC10 what I imagine (Cant confirm since obv I've never driven one), it should make the car extremely easy to drive by cutting as much as it can. I recon for example Moritz Lohner made a video about the LMP3 in iracing where he commented that IRL they deactivated the TC since it interfered too much, so the idea of running TC0 it's not out of the question, but I imagine that max settings on TC are there for people who have very little idea about car control and just want to drive it, and IMO the TC10 setting in ams2 is still too optimistic.
    But yeah, GT3s with 0 TC are fun cars to drive, not my favourites but they can be fun

    I think part of the problem regarding the current subject(s), is that too many people, at best, base their OPINIONS based on driving their personal street vehicle in real life.
    Unless everybody commenting here has driven ANY vehicle at racing speeds on a real race track, Physics and FFB opinions are nothing more than personal likes/dislikes, nothing more.

    In my opinion.

    I'm sure I have wound up a few here, that is not my intention, but have at it anyway,... I can take it,... :D.

    Not that anybody cares, but I am driving anything BUT gt3 here, had enough.
    Try that old big torque Corvette without driver aids around Mosport for real fun,...:p
