I agree that there are still these issues you mentioned, but having now a bit more time to have races in different circuits and categories, I definitely can see improvements as well. Last weekend for example I had a race with the excellent F1 99 mod in Hockenheim 2001 racing with BAR. I always use at least 20 min qualifying and get consistently good races. 45min race, I started on P4 and was able to be P2 on the second chicane. Normally the 3 chicanes were more prone to troubles with AI, but no incidents for the full first lap. I settled to a good rhythm and with Hakkinen and Irvine around 2 sec behind it took me 2 more laps to overtake Michael Schumacher. Normally, in the past I would be able to disappear in the lead from this point onwards. But this time it wasn’t the case. I was able to open a 3 sec gap to the Ferrari, but we were like that for the next 15 min, with the gap varying between 2 to 3 secs until I flat spotted my right front tire on the braking for first chicane. (It was really cool to have visible flat spot by the way). From then on I needed to change brake bias rearward to reduce the risk of flat spotting the tire more and to brake more conservatively and a bit earlier but soon I got Michael pressuring me all around and 2 laps latter he overtook me in the third chicane. Since it was really hard to drive I anticipated my pit stop to get new boots and doing some qualy laps for next 3 laps i managed to overtake him again on pit exit when he was leaving his pit stop. Then I managed to handle the last stint with him on 3 to 4 sec range, but let’s say it was no walk in the park as in pre 1.6 build. For sure I’m not the fastest guy all around, but I had a great and consistent 45 min race with consistent AI behaviour and real like situations during full race. Overall really pleased with current state of AI and genuinely intrigued that you didn’t have the same experience. This is only one example, I had other enjoyable races in different categories. Hope you get the same experience. Maybe you can try different qualy and race distance, and categories and circuits to see the aforementioned AI behaviour is recurring for you? All the best.

In my opinion, version 1.6 has laid the groundwork for the future development of AI within the game. The behavior of the bots is definitely more believable and consistent compared to before.

I’ve already talked about the positives elsewhere, so I won’t rewrite the same things again, but I’d like to highlight what, in my opinion, needs improvement:

    1. Cars still fight in groups of two or three for multiple laps without ever losing pace. Often, even in long races, the finish resembles a 100-meter sprint with a photo-finish.
    2. Trains of cars follow each other without trying different racing lines.
    3. In one-make series, if you make a mistake, spin out, or go off track, you can go from first to last in less than five seconds due to how close the cars are.
    4. "Magnet effect."
    5. Strange racing lines on some tracks.
    6. Some tracks have sections where the AI loses a lot of time, ruining their performance.

This feedback is based on my experience after spending several hours playing with the latest patch.

    100% agree

Only thing I'd add is that AI often drive into you in corners as if you're not there, and they have to adhere to the racing line religously no matter what.

I don't remember feeling this in the original 1.6 update, feels like it's something that was added in the hotfixes, but I could be wrong.

After trying Assetto Corsa EVO in VR for five minutes and ask for refund, I'm glad that Reiza uses Madness Engine in AMS2 and have the best racing game ever.

Uh oh. Is it that bad?

I'm not expecting much from early access, but refund solution is worrying that it may be quite bad indeed

I know this is not a place for AC stuff but this still has relevance for future Reiza games:
PLEASE never make your future games with "always-online DRM". It is the fastest way for a lot of people to not buy a game / refund / and leave negative reviews to warn others.

In VR? Terrible. Looks nice in 2D, but heavy as hell. If Reiza release a "Green Hell map with some country roads and AI simulated traffic", Kunos will be facing a bigger problem than this horrible first release.

It's in the individual track files which you can open with notepad. Unfortunately I can't fathom out which value to apply to each weather pattern, I'll be interested to find out whether you can sort it out.

Running on a 4090 with everything ultra or maxed out. No need for fancy technologies IMHO. Already well over the top as is on all ultra apart from the jagged shadows

Yes, if the lack of AA on shadows was addressed (or the shadow resolution increased) as part of "Ultra" I can't imagine needing anything more for daylight racing. It's incredibly smooth and sharp already if you have modern hardware.

There may be a few more issues at night, but not sure they would be addressed with generic technology, either. The game engine has some "features" that need to be sorted out the old fashioned way and there are no magic fixes.

With all those sweet sweet new liveries getting annouced for 2025 IMSA i kind of wonder if Reiza will do like they do for Stock car, updating the liveries for each season, with the presets thing it would be possible without getting too cluttered I guess.

    Ettore and Marc.

I'm also running a 4090 and I can tell you that in VR there are performance issues at sunset and rain. Put both of those together and there is a significant drop. So one cant say that 4090 is completely sufficient for AMS2.

I will upgrade to 5090, but how many people can afford a 4090/5090? 0.5% of all gamers?

For online races when there is a 2 minute countdown, could there be an auto-ready button somewhere so that when the countdown hits 1 second left it will ready-up the player no matter what menu they are in ?

Seems very odd that your files have a different extension to mine and Cholton82's, sorry but I don't have any answers for you.

You probably installed mods which means the encrypted bff files were decrypted and extracted into your game files.
