I suppose being a sim is exactly the problem in this particular case. Arcade games can "fake" the effect, while in a sim it is produced by the physics. But AMS2 (for performance reasons) only fully simulates the driver's car, while the other cars run in simplified physics, which apparently do not produce this effect. Don't know if it can be faked also in the sim for the AI cars, but I suspect it will be very difficult to make it look exactly the same as for the driver's car..

Exactly. I'm sure it's possible just requires a lot of time and effort to implement properly... Much like the more realistic AI mistakes. It is not like Reiza just looked and said "nah who cares" about implementing these things.

Just saying, repeating that bugs still exist won’t make them disappear. Finding the cause will. I don’t want to argue.

In my game I think the update seems to be working correctly. Despite the update racelogic continues to look awful....

If a bug has been reported in the bug reports thread it is effectively "listed!; unfortunately awareness is not all that is needed for a bug to get fixed as they come in different sizes and complexities. There are bugs we have chased for years before we finally found a fix; and there are also some we haven´t despite chasing for just as long.

That same limitation was also present in AMS1. The AI tires don´t have an actual physical tire contact patch, add enough body roll to a high enough center of gravity and it will just tip over; they need substantially simpler suspension and a CG height scalar to keep them stable and raceable.

This is certainly a negative point to the series as its now, but we wouldn´t have released it as is if we had some way to fix this within one week. At the end of the day we either have the Trucks with this sterile-looking AI but that still is capable of racing, or we don´t have it at all; we found they were worth having and as always made sure everyone got a substantial trial period to evaluate so they could decide themselves if the content worth having in their collection.

You are kinda responding your own point there by comparing it to an arcade game; the full field there probably doesn´t handle a fraction of the calculations Madness does with the player physics alone. As an user you can certainly decide that´s the better overall package and play that; you may entertain yoruself with this exercise of mash-meshing qualities of different games with completely different design and purposes as evidence it is all possible within the same game, but that isn´t really how it works in the real world of game development.

Simply put you can have a good looking sim with complex physics, relatively acessible in terms of system demands when running large fields of AI cars which for the most part provides good racing performance and behavior vs the player OR you can have the same physics with much higher system demands that would bring most top end systems to a crawl even with medium sized fields for AI behavior that might look slightly more natural, but wouldn´t have the resources to handle it and race it as well; unfortunately we can´t offer all the pros with no cons, not at this time and not for this price.

Again gents I´m not trying to sugest this isn´t a negative point to this bit of content; it certainly is and we´re not done trying out ways to improve on this limitation without creating other problems - but as with everything else, it is the result we can actually offer at a price that very much factors how well it delivers on what it is proposing - it is your call to decide if the overall is good enough to warrant your money.

Love the work the team has been doing!

I'm hoping some of the features such as the new AI mistakes and wet skill modifiers can be added to multiplayer sometime, would be really nice for our 2-3 player races.

Also is there a plan to bring AI damage closer to the player levels? The damage model is cool but I have to run it on the lower levels because the AI will sometimes crash spectacularly and seem completely unaffected, while the player gets bumped and receives a large percentage of damage.

I'm not at all interested in how the AI behaves in the game, but the fact that there are problems in the online game that need attention is a fact. In my community, people have been refusing to participate in events and championships due to frequent disconnections lately. You can delete this message like the last one.

    Sorry, I couldn't resist it.

There are two sides of the same coin, just because you want one side doesn't mean that the other side should be flat and neglected and your side should take priority. Right now both have issues and both are being constantly worked on.

Might be worth checking how the event is setup, cause using a dedicated server for over 2 years for our ams2 league races didn't cause a lot of disconnection issues, only major ones are when Steam does their maintenance and goes offline.
An occasional disconnect for community members, but that can also be down to a issue from their pc to the server/host, don't get me wrong, i'm not saying there aren't any issues, but experience tells me that some things can be done to minimize the risk of issues.

Thanks for resolving the truck steering lock issue. Would it be possible just as an experiment to permir a lower minimum value than 14 (say 9 or 10) on one car like the GT4 or GTE BMW and one oval car like the Indycar low downforce just to test and see how that affects twitchiness?

Nothing major changed in recent updates since v1.6 to impact MP disconnects one way or another though.

If you give us a little more info - how many clients were there in the session, what was the content in use, what sessions did how many disconnected - we and others in the community might be able to provide some feedback to at least mitigate the chances of it reocurring.

Agreed, arguing is counter productive. This is, generally speaking, a really helpful and constructive forum. I believe an expression of frustration is valid, otherwise I wouldn't have posted it. Correct me if I'm wrong but I broke no guidelines by posting what I did. I read a lot, and only post rarely. It has got rather quiet here after a number of folk were banned, rightly, in the lead up to 1.6. It's really good to have Renato and his team posting here, explaining the intricacies of the updates and game engine, clarifying issues, and the future direction of the game. I am extremely grateful for that.

Because I work away from home a lot I don't get to play the game as much as I would like. This week has really been my first chance to get to grips with the 1.6 content. You could count the hours I've played on one hand since September last year until this last week! Mostly been driving the lmp2 g2 cars multi-class with lmdh and GT3 G2 in long (up to 4hr) offline races. Seeing the "long list" of issues still present was both disappointing and frustrating, especially when they prematurely end a long race! Hopefully this will clarify my position for all. Trust me when I say I love the game and want it to be the best it can for all to enjoy. :)

For real, I am genuinely interested to know of another current-generation, single-player racing sim out there where the AI drivers convincingly hold up their end of the bargain both on the track and in the pits after a four-hour multiclass race with--or even without--changeable weather.

LMU is ticking that box the closest for me currently although not perfect I must admit.
I’ve had some fantastic races with multiple saves throughout a 6 hr race. But it probably should as we are talking really about only 4 classes of car in the game.
Variety is one of AMS2’ biggest strengths but I also think this leads to many of its weaknesses.

We create a lobby in the game itself, the disconnection occurs because the internet disappears for a second, this happens exclusively with AMS, and it's not just me, I've played 745 hours in the game in a year, most of it is online and I can tell you for sure that our community has never had such problems before. Today we had problems with this again, I myself in two races out of three

See I asked you some elementary info about your issue to maybe try help you avoid it, instead of taking 10s to type that out you just replied with non-sequiturs and insisted on complaining about the game.

You can vent frustration about an issue you´ve encountered, especially as a league organizer who had events spoiled and then has to handle your league members´ frustration - I get that. But if after that you still aren´t willing to help us help you, that when you´re going to be moderated instead of supported.

Btw.: This latest update improved further the tire feel / driving feel towards a better (less slippery) grip feel and over-all driving experience! Well done! I have a lot of fun now, also with the GT3 (second Gen) cars.
