I think part of the issue is we've not really found a decent middle ground on the Dev updates.

We seem to either get the highly detailed Dev updates, these are great but no doubt take Renato a long time to produce and the hype gets out of hand, or it's pretty much radio silence.

I'd quite happily take the occasional short, "here's a few things we are working on" with a high level overview, and maybe "we are targeting (but can't guarantee) end of month X". Just a paragraph or two on what's going on.

I can see due to the issues in the past why Reiza don't want to do this but a vacuum of information doesn't always help the situation either.

Release estimates are unnecessary. Just a short paragraph of "Here is what's being worked on at the moment" would be enough.

Patience does come with age — though perhaps later than it once did :D

Just a suggestion: I think S397 is handling communication well — they're neither overly present nor completely absent. They were not always like that either...

I'd be very happy with that +1...
Doesn't need to be more than that either imo.

Well, the last few updates coincided with a steam sale. I think it's apparent to the devs that this is a good way to optimise revenue - full price DLCs with discounted base game. Razor and blades model, if you will. The next one (Steam summer sale) comes at the end of June, so I'd expect something out then. Just a guess.

I think the Reiza guys could follow MotorSport Games' example, every 2 months they talk about the improvements that are coming, Reiza could take this model and put it in 3, 4 months but not like it is today, I think it really discourages its AMS2 fan base a little.

Statements can raise expectations and expectations are the seeds of disappointments and that leads to not always respectful reactions as if the devs made promises, what they don'' t

Motorsport Games are promoting their new toy to raise huge expectations and people will buy their beta game what isn' t normal but people can' t wait so they learn to make it a normal thing but it isn' t.
It' s all marketing and eye candy and lot's of gamers fall for it again and over again. Patience is the key for everything in life.

Although I agree with the principle of your point I dont think its a fair statement towards 397 as they are doing a really good job with LMU overall. Quality of the last update was solid and for now no reason to think the next one won’t be.

I am a very loyal, patient person and have been playing AMS2 as my primary sim for 2 years now. I did not participate in all of the 1.6 drama but right now AMS2 is loosing appeal to me, as sad as that may be. Thats mainly because of the dropping numbers of players in LFM and leagues. I think it is important to have a strategy and communicate about it to have folks on board. I still wish nothing but the best for Reiza and things change in life so maybe thats just the case here.

Although full grids of Stock cars 2024, GT4, Sprints, one of the older F1 cars or any of the other unique Reiza content on one of the many many great tracks would pull me back in immediately…

Reiza don' t let us down and maybe they have a strategy in this because the competition is overwhelming nowadays.

When in the restaurant how often does one visit the kitchen to see what the chef is planning and doing? Or asking the waiter about the "status"?

This forum used to be a great, open window to the kitchen (it still is to some extent but nowhere near as grand as it used to be) but some wannabe project managers started to tell chefs what to do.

This is probably a large part of why this kitchen window is no longer permanently open and why we don't get as much information as we used to. Because some people can shout their uneducated opinions and guesses like they know everything best.

    Let. Them. Cook.

We both know that when such screenshot is posted this forum (and other channels) will get swamped with comments that "it's ready and should be released immediately!" and "why teasing if it's not downloadable yet?", etc.

Plus as you've mentioned yourself - we already have a pretty decent game in our hands delivered. What we're waiting for is a mere cherry on top. There's just no need to be impatient.

I don´t get why it would not be possible to enjoy AMS2 in its current state? If another update drops, fine. If not, go ahead with what you have, it is a brilliant simulator already.

I never understood why people kept playing a sim as long as it was not finished and there were more updates to come. As soon as devs say that this was the final update, people stop playing it and call it dead. Well, that´s the moment when the sim is in its best state ever, isn´t it?
