To add to this, for me when starting through Fanalab, it starts SteamVR, but game doesn't start. Changing the Steam startup option has no effect, same result no matter what I select.

Edit: only did this test. I start through Virtual Desktop, so not an issue for me personally.

Hi, there seems to be an intermittent bug with the new build whereby the car steering angle seems to drop to almost nothing and it becomes almost impossible to turn the car. It happened to me for an LFM qualifying session (F3 at hockenheim), after much confusion I restarted the game and rejoined the session, it was then fine. I learned it also occurred to at least one other driver in the same event, although his qualifying session was fine and instead he had it only for the race session.

Agreed. Reverted back to default+ a day or two ago, from rack_force custom ffb and I'm working my way through the list of classes that underwent tread work.
I'm more than a little impressed with the tire model now, and whereas in the past I felt there was a disconnect using default(+) ffb, it now feels magnificent.
Great sense of where the grip is as well as weight transfer and inertia.

I have 60GB free, I've done previous updates with less space than that without any problems. I've already cleared cache and restarted Steam, nothing works, AMS doesn't update or start.

The tire changes are fantastic, a lot more feel for levels of grip. Hopefully they will be refined even further to gain perfection.

I noticed that the AI still have wonky wheels when joining a server with AI. This as been a problem since game release and still no fix. As this ever been looked at? is it unfixable? It is a real immersion breaking thing, and would be a massive bonus if it were fixed.

The sunlight coming through inside the vent pipe on the dash is also fixed (i.e. gone) :) There's still some minor light coming in at some random angles, but it's no longer an issue

I see no one is commenting on something that surprised us this afternoon at the SD. At the start of the race, a second or two before the start, all the cars move as if the grid is shrinking, and then they slowly return to their positions. It wasn't just me, there were 22 of us, and everyone saw the same thing in three different races.

I'll try to record a video if it happens again.

    Great job!

P.S.: Sorry for my English, it's from Google Translate.

For the guys that have said the GT3s are good now, do you still have to use the engine braking to 8 hack to stop the front of car from over rotating into corners?

I have a Loupe Deck Live S that i use to use to start three different sim racing games.I have buttons programed to start various programs that i use with each sim. After i updated today the one for AMS2 fails to start correctly, all the programs load just fine until it gets to the point of launching the .exe file for AMS2. I get this error. Before the update there was no problems with it working for over a year. But if start the game within steam it loads just fine. I believe something might be wrong the .exe file. The other two games i have programed buttons for rF2 and RaceRoom still work just fine.

I'm confused. I run world record or near world record TT pace in GT3 Gen2 and I never used this "hack".

I do admit lower engine braking (higher number) is in many cases better, but its not be all end all measure by any means. I certainly never ran 8.

Hi, i just did two quick races on Le Mans and Spielberg (since someone mentioned having bad fps there). I got VERY good framerates of 150-200 FPS without any stutters or hickups. I started from last position and max opponents vs the AI. On a full course yellow when everybody went to the box and all box crews were visible, the FPS dropped to 100 which makes sense.

One tip: i had some occasions where the gfx-system on Manjaro had some problems after some running time, not sure why. Then in some games i would have bad fps. A restart might help then.

To my system: Manjaro Linux, Kernel 6.16.0-rc3-1-MANJARO, open source amd-gpu driver, Proton 9.0-4. No fancy hacking. Settings in AMS2 pretty high on 2560x1440. I can post screenshots of my gfx settings if you need but i don't use VR so can't speak for that.

Same for me, the game won't launch from the exe anymore .. I have to start it from STEAM now. Clicking on my desktop icon no longer works .. I get the same error message as you. Something must be up, maybe it has to do with the new browser launch feature?

That's nice! I was going through the thread as Steam was updating ams2 yesterday and I got scared... The horror stories?! For me luckily it went down without issues.
And I'm running out of space on that drive <90GB on a 1TB nvme.
Be interesting to know what the problem was there.
    For now I blame Steam.
Also the build performed flawlessly on my end. No fps loss/drops or any of it.
I used to have problems with ams2 on my previous system that were ultimately caused by a somewhat corrupted windows install and persistent AMD grahpics driver issues(5700xt at the time), though that system mostly worked fine with many other titles.
Still on AMD(7900xtx), but zero trouble since the last build.
For all the people that are experiencing problems with the game rn when they're perfectly fine on other titles; I used to be one of them.
Took a completely fresh PC build for me to solve it...

No, I reverted every GT3 back to standard setup to test it. TCS 4, ABS 6, Danielkarts V6000 FBB with slightly adjusted Fanatec settings after the patch.

Drove all GT3 G2s on Spa Yesterday. Put in 30l and tried how far I can push them within the few laps. With each one I was able to get a 2:17,X time and remember this was not some crazy hotlap attempt, just standard setup and a few laps. I am absolutely sure you can get them so 2:16 or some even to 2:15 we without touching the setup at all. They are became so reliable, within the like 90-120 minutes I only spun put very few times were I went way too fast into corners or were too hard on the brake while steering, all were absolutely my fault and had no instance of sudden snaps or things like that.

It's amazing how each of them still has their unique characteristics, but all of them are really stable in their own way. BMW and AMG have tons of grip, they are so easy and clean to drive that it actually felt slower than they are. As a beginner definitely go for them. but AMG is really slippery when tires are cold. McLaren and Audi are very agile but very clean to drive, very well balanced. Lambo is fast but really struggled to get Eau Rogue without lifting, I think it's suffering a bit from corner entry understeer. Corvette in comparison has insane grip on the front so it struggles a bit with understeer on corner exits if you're too fast and throttle. Both Lambo and Corvette seem to have to brake earlier than the others. I couldn't get my head fully around the Porsche though, it's very agile and allows very sharp steering but it can unbalance the car if you're not gently enough. Overall BOP seems great and it's really up to your style which car you prefer.

I think they really nailed the tire model with this update. I don't have to fear about trailbraking at all anymore, they don't snap. Corner exits like Spa chicane into finish line also are so great to drive now, the cars used to oversteer coming out of low speed corners like this, it also seems gone.

I would say you can still use throttle to rotate and use a little bit of slip angle, but keeping your car balanced and rotate via braking is the proper and faster way to drive now, at it should be. Even though this is numbered as a minor patch, this is by far the biggest step up in handling after 1.6 tire model update. The whole slippery/rotate by throttle driving people critized AMS2 for compared to other sims seems pretty much gone, I honestly don't see a bit difference to how the cars handle in LMU at the moment (besides LMU suffers from sudden snaps ATM though)

Can't wait to test more cars, especially LMDh and LMP2, and going for some time attacks

For the people with FPS problems, could it be you hadn't been running AMS2 for a while and only came back to it after the update? At least in Europe this week has been extremely hot, and since unlike other sims AMS2 pushes not only the GPU, but also the CPU a lot, some systems may struggle with the heat.

I have an external fan blowing directly to my open cased PC, race only with aircondition on and do not have any fps issues. Unless I forget to switch on the fan and then everything starts to crawl...

I have air con always on, and the gpu never goes over 60° C at full load...but as I posted in the VR thread after the last patch I've suddenly lost a lot of fps on VR.

I have a 4090 and HP Reverb G2, always around 90fps with ultra settings before the patch, obviously using open composite (and obviously many less fps at night and night+rain).

Since yesterday, no matter what I do or messing around with options (scaling resolution, lowering details, etc) it seems I can't get more than 50-60 fps both day (i.e. hi tech f1 at Interlagos) or night (i.e. gt3 at nurburgring).

It goes up to 65 or 70 fps when Im not surranded by other cars, but I can cleary see and feel the lack of smoothness. It's quite quite annoying as I have no idea what to do...

Very best update for GT3 and LMDH, now is perfect to drive, very pleasure.
For fps drops, i play with triple 1440p and run normally at 120fps capped, no problem, all run normaly.

Were you running the game also the last days just before the update and you had no such issues?

As I said, it's not only the GPU, but also the CPU that gets pushed a lot by AMS2. I also have a 4090 and it throws so much additional heat all over the system, in my case it was usually something else in the motherboard that was reaching its limits because of that.

If the temp in the room is over 26-27C, I also still have issues, but have always had.

I am also having performance issue.
Before 1.6.5 my game was stuck @238fps on a 244hz display. Now the game fluctuates between 130 and 160, which is a hudge difference.
My whole pc is on water cooling (no temp issue) and hardware is pretty high end (9950x3d, rtx 5090, 8000Mhz DDR5 and crutial T705 nvme m2).
Strangely I get better performance (even if still lower than usual) with game running on CCD1 (the not x3d cache ccd) instead of CCD0 (x3d cache ccd, the one for gaming). Also if I try to apply a software SMT, through process lasso, the game freezes for 10sec, runs for a sec, freezes for 10sec and so on... (It s been working fine before 1.6.5).
