At 60, you're going to talk to me about maturity. It's more a matter of your sharp suspicions.

i only asked about a bit more context, and you gave that to me, nothing more nothing less, not sure why you read more into it tbh

Why this fixation on me? You asked me to explain something I didn't even realize I'd done. A smiley face... Oh my God! Thank goodness I didn't hit a demon or something. Forget it, there are much more important things than me and my words. Go on with your thing.

No change with the browser pings, unfortunately.

Not a bad shout though. Still searching for a solution here - I have a league event planned in the next few weeks and I need this tool to work as it did a few weeks ago.

My last line in the log shows the following:

[DATE-TIME] INFO: Server startup finished: AppId 1066890, public IP (REDACTED), Steam id (REDACTED) ; switching to running state

REDACTED my addition. Nothing else afterwards.

It seems as if it's "hanging" on this instance - I never paid too much attention to the log readout, but I could have sworn there was a few more lines here before the ones that concerned players/Steam IDs joining the lobby.

    Could be wrong, though.

might be worth to try the new direct joining of a server through a link option, make sure the game ISN'T running, adjust the ip address and port of your server, and also the password if needed.

The port you need to specify is the "hostport" as set in your server.cfg file.

    For monitor users:

    steam://run/1066890//-connect <ip>:<gameport> -password <password>

    for VR:

    steam://run/1066890//-connect <ip>:<gameport> -password <password> -forcevr
    So as an example:
    steam://run/1066890//-connect 132.156.231.28:26020 -password skill

Copy that url in a webbrowser, hit the enter key, and allow it to open steam, click continue in steam.

if that doesn't work, there has to be something in your network/port forwards or server.cfg that's causing issues, i would make a backup/rename of the server.cfg file, and pick a sample .cfg file from the config_sample folder, and rename that to server.cfg, and run a basic config to test if the issue is caused by the server.cfg or not.

so why would they show up, when they have less slots than set, while the rx tracks dont?

oulton park doesnt always show up in the list too, when it has more slots than set.

No joy on any of these.

Clean installed both the Dedicated Server and the Emperor Client again. No change. Double checked the opened ports in both Windows Firewall and in the router settings. They are correct.

Ran the custom join argument with the exact Public IP and host port that the server log shows on the server machine. Steam launched the game with the argument, after a notification - but once it booted, I got an "attempting to join" and then "can't find server".

I have swapped in a stock cfg ("rotating events" I believe) from the examples folder and renamed the original server.cfg. No change. The server log still hangs.

I cannot stress enough - this was perfectly working for months if not years previous, and I just rolled up one day a few weeks ago and it had completely **** itself. Didn't touch my network or router, didn't change a thing in my Emperor settings or the server.cfg, didn't change a thing period. It just died on me.

I get the impression that the server isn't really starting at all, even though I'm not getting any error messages in the log. The "running state" that it's telling me it's in seems to be a myth.

The fact that there was an update on July 2 for the dedicated server means I have to look there as the cause. Something must have happened with it. It's just too much of a coincidence. And frankly, I've already spent hours trying to fix this and I'm not really willing to sit here for many more going back and forth trying to get the damn thing to show up. Perhaps we just won't run AMS2 in my league indefinitely if I can't get it to work.

Anyway, thanks for the help, sincerely, regardless of the frustrating result.

It is strange, as i run 2 leagues myself, and know a lot more who run events without issues, even after the last update, all using the JustRace Platform and their servermanager, but that basically only starts and stops the server with the event settings, the actual running dedi is the same.

Are you running the server on a different machine than your game is running from?

I could try and join it to see if it can be reached externally, as that would indicate an issue on your internal network, please dm me the details for that if you want.

As i said before, this is a strange situation, and definitely not common for everyone.
