At 60, you're going to talk to me about maturity. It's more a matter of your sharp suspicions.

i only asked about a bit more context, and you gave that to me, nothing more nothing less, not sure why you read more into it tbh

Why this fixation on me? You asked me to explain something I didn't even realize I'd done. A smiley face... Oh my God! Thank goodness I didn't hit a demon or something. Forget it, there are much more important things than me and my words. Go on with your thing.

No change with the browser pings, unfortunately.

Not a bad shout though. Still searching for a solution here - I have a league event planned in the next few weeks and I need this tool to work as it did a few weeks ago.

My last line in the log shows the following:

[DATE-TIME] INFO: Server startup finished: AppId 1066890, public IP (REDACTED), Steam id (REDACTED) ; switching to running state

REDACTED my addition. Nothing else afterwards.

It seems as if it's "hanging" on this instance - I never paid too much attention to the log readout, but I could have sworn there was a few more lines here before the ones that concerned players/Steam IDs joining the lobby.

    Could be wrong, though.

might be worth to try the new direct joining of a server through a link option, make sure the game ISN'T running, adjust the ip address and port of your server, and also the password if needed.

The port you need to specify is the "hostport" as set in your server.cfg file.

    For monitor users:

    steam://run/1066890//-connect <ip>:<gameport> -password <password>

    for VR:

    steam://run/1066890//-connect <ip>:<gameport> -password <password> -forcevr
    So as an example:
    steam://run/1066890//-connect 132.156.231.28:26020 -password skill

Copy that url in a webbrowser, hit the enter key, and allow it to open steam, click continue in steam.

if that doesn't work, there has to be something in your network/port forwards or server.cfg that's causing issues, i would make a backup/rename of the server.cfg file, and pick a sample .cfg file from the config_sample folder, and rename that to server.cfg, and run a basic config to test if the issue is caused by the server.cfg or not.

so why would they show up, when they have less slots than set, while the rx tracks dont?

oulton park doesnt always show up in the list too, when it has more slots than set.

No joy on any of these.

Clean installed both the Dedicated Server and the Emperor Client again. No change. Double checked the opened ports in both Windows Firewall and in the router settings. They are correct.

Ran the custom join argument with the exact Public IP and host port that the server log shows on the server machine. Steam launched the game with the argument, after a notification - but once it booted, I got an "attempting to join" and then "can't find server".

I have swapped in a stock cfg ("rotating events" I believe) from the examples folder and renamed the original server.cfg. No change. The server log still hangs.

I cannot stress enough - this was perfectly working for months if not years previous, and I just rolled up one day a few weeks ago and it had completely **** itself. Didn't touch my network or router, didn't change a thing in my Emperor settings or the server.cfg, didn't change a thing period. It just died on me.

I get the impression that the server isn't really starting at all, even though I'm not getting any error messages in the log. The "running state" that it's telling me it's in seems to be a myth.

The fact that there was an update on July 2 for the dedicated server means I have to look there as the cause. Something must have happened with it. It's just too much of a coincidence. And frankly, I've already spent hours trying to fix this and I'm not really willing to sit here for many more going back and forth trying to get the damn thing to show up. Perhaps we just won't run AMS2 in my league indefinitely if I can't get it to work.

Anyway, thanks for the help, sincerely, regardless of the frustrating result.

It is strange, as i run 2 leagues myself, and know a lot more who run events without issues, even after the last update, all using the JustRace Platform and their servermanager, but that basically only starts and stops the server with the event settings, the actual running dedi is the same.

Are you running the server on a different machine than your game is running from?

I could try and join it to see if it can be reached externally, as that would indicate an issue on your internal network, please dm me the details for that if you want.

As i said before, this is a strange situation, and definitely not common for everyone.

We are trying to run a championship with 2 human drivers and 18 AI. Because the class has over 40 AI/liveries, there are different AI for each race.
As a workaround, racing with mod(Thunderflash) vehicles produce a consistent AI field from race to race, but I'm trying to figure this out using the vanilla classes.

I am back again haha. So I left virgin broadband and joined a ISP that does not use CGNAT.
I managed to get Assetta Corsa dedicated server working use the STEAM program.Only when the steam program was running an online PORT checker website shows the PORTS as open.

So I decided to try the same for Automobilsta 2 ( as we all know this game is better :p) but did not get the same success.

In the router I opened the ports 27015, 27016 & 8766 in both UDP and TCP (ALL).
    I performed netstat -ano | findstr "27016 27015 8766" in CMD prompt.
    And the results were;
    UDP 0.0.0.0:27015 *:* 50964
    UDP 0.0.0.0:27016 *:* 17032
    UDP [::]:27015 *:* 50964

However the results were the same when I paused the port forwaring on the above ports.

When running the Automobilsta Dedicated Server VIA steam the prompt appears with no errors apart from sportsplay disabled. ams2command.png

I cannot see the server in the lobby and port checker tool does not show the ports as open when I have the game and dedictaed server running.

I have noticed when I port check : 9000 it shows as closed but when I change the IP from 127.0.0.1 in the .cfg file to 192.168.1.103 which is the server computer; PORT 9000 shows as open on port checker.

I have reverted back to 127.0.0.1.

Really getting annoyed now. i even thought of changing the router setting from DYMANIC to static as a last throw of the dice.

    * again tried assetto corser and thier master server seems to responds better and opens the port. it's as of the command line is LIVE and you get updates.
automobilsta 2 servers dont respond on activation of the exe file to allow those three ports to open the same way. As you have seen on the screen shot above is what I get and it then stays PUT.

firewall settings are fine. using the setting "ALL OPEN PORTS" in window defender for both assetto corsa and AMS2 programs.

It almost sounds like the port forwarding on your router isn't configured correctly. Good luck, I hope you get it figured out.

I am not sure how it can be a port forwarding error. The ports for Assetto Corsa work. Port checker can ping those ports.
You just put number in and select UDP or TCP.

AMS2 Admin console confirms the server is running.
I would like to know in the CMD prompt is thos Json lines supposed to rolling like in the Assetto Corsa CMD prompt. That was seems alive.

The AMS2 CMD promt seems dead after is has confirmed server running.

If it shows a port as being closed, it means that the ports aren't forwarded properly, or are you using the same ports for ams2 as for your AC server?

make sure the ports are also opened in your windows firewall/other firewall you might have.
the console window only shows activity once people join/leave the server once it's running.

Assetto ports are 8081 and 9600 so they are different.
I have done netstat -ano and no other ports are using the steam port for AMS2 ; 8766

done inbound rules for ams2 dedicated and game for both UDP and TCP
Even done a inbound rule only for specific port 8766.

My ISP provider has said "port forwarding is already setup on the router, there will need to be a device on the local network using 192.168.1.101 that is accepting requests on these port numbers."

So they assume the router is set. I believe that because port 8081 for assetto corsa is open only when the CMD console is running for AC ON 192.168.1.101

So why is not the server of AMS2 connecting to my computer to allow the ports to be open.

    1) Inbound rules not correct for AMS2?
    2) Does there have to be outbound rules?
    3) Is it okay to run AMS2 dedicated server via STEAM?
